  • So any pig fat.. doesn't fat hold the hormones and crap they feed them??

  • @snaps81625 Depending on how you source it, it can be! I use only organic, free ranged pork.

  • Wow! Look at you! This is an amazing channel! Also truly fun!! Let's stay in touch. Visit me sometimes!

  • Dear Mr.Brown, you make me rethink my love affair with butter. Kind Regards, Kim.

  • Frijoles Refritos with lard...mmmmmmmmm

  • pig fat in baked goods? AHHHHHHHhh

  • Alton didn't look like he thought it was the best thing in the world xD His facial expression seemed to tell otherwise!

  • Hey could i use bacon drippings but boil the fat in water strain to remove the nitrates and other stuff in the lard?

  • why is he so skinny?

  • @gmt903 because he cooks his own food running around in a hot kitchen with fresh ingredients, as opposed to never leaving his car and taking all his meals at the drive through.

  • @gmt903 GMT, don't worry about what Void said. It's not true and he is just making an anti-American statement. The real reason is that he put himself on a diet instead of eating everything he made and making everything he likes. He cut out a lot of food from his normal diet and put in exercise that he wasn't doing before. He made a Good Eats episode about that.

  • @kiminokami Thanks! That makes sense.... I didn't realize he made a conscious effort to lose weight. I don't think he looked bad before, but if he didn't feel healthy then he didn't feel healthy. I'll have to look for that episode.

  • @gmt903 Looking back, he never really got fat, but at the time, there were a few seasons where he was gaining a little bit, and there was a general worry that it would continue until he was unhealthy,

  • in his spiffy suit.. chewin on some cracklin in front of me.. hate you alton brown HATE YOUUU

  • this is disgusting, is lard actually good for you.... i mean ive never eaten lard, but it does not look good in anyway possible....

  • @xPandaz It has a healthier ratio of monounsaturated fat to saturated fat in comparison to butter, so yes, as far as baking goes,it is a lot healthier.

  • @xPandaz

don't be fooled what some folks say about fat its not that bad, fat is very nutrient dense with all kinda good stuff and with out it world would be a very bland tasteless and malnourished place, unless your eatting processed fat like store bought lard that does not need refrigeration, aka hydrogenated bullcrap with 3 abbreviates letters its all good

  • Who knew that lard was actually good for you.

  • alton brown FTW

  • is cracklins, chicharrones? i don't know what they're called in english.

    nice video btw :)

  • @annieyoulittlewhore yeah its pretty much the same thing. It looks like according to this video cracklins are just pork fat, but chicharrones are made of the skin and the fat not just the fat by itself I think.

  • Get with it foodnetwwork. Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Masaharu Morimoto and Cat Cora aren't even on the show anymore.

  • @Kroder isn't that all of them? Who's left?

  • @wheels85 The new season has all new Iron Chefs from what I can see. I tivo it every week.

  • mmmm...lard

  • lol, cracklins...

  • you can tell that he was ready to spit it out at the end of the video.

  • @aflockofmusic2 He actually loves cracklins and talks about it a lot on Iron Chef.

  • Comment removed
