I really like President Obama's promise to work together to slash the budget deficit by the end of the year. His promise to cut it in half to 500 Billion dollars sounds good to me. When do we start the streamlined government?
Congress over taxes the American Businesses, who pass that cost on to the general Population. More Americans quit buying goods and services, because they have less to spend. Now, our friends in congress need more money, so they start taxing the next lower income group. Then that group reduces their purchasing of goods and services,,, etc, etc, etc.
It's called taxes... namely those we have not been paying... if I were him, I'd increase taxes on 250,000 and up by 6%, the 60,000 and up 3% and the 40,000 and up 2%. Since the rich have the most to lose if our nation goes bankrupt, they'll have to pull a little more weight. This is no time to cut taxes for anyone. WE NEED A BALANCED BUDGET!
It's quite a fantasy for the One to think he can slash the deficit by 2012 especially since he envisions a grand welfare state and an expansion of the US-Afghan War.

1,8 billion / 2 = 900 billion. Still very unsustainable.
