1551 used to operate out of Allandale (where I live) in the 1950's. She's one of only three ten wheelers that operated on the CNR Allandale Division to survive. The others being 1533 which is awaiting restoration at New Hope & Ivyland and 1531 which is being cosmetically restored by a museum in this area. Beautiful locomotives.
I have talked to a few people at O.C. and it is the insurance companies who ruined it, due to sue happy people and lawyers, you know if someone slips, oops time to sue, let's abolish all lawyers, LOL
There was a man at a railroad (I forget which one) but he broke in, climbed on a big old steamer, and sat on it's boiler like you would with a horse but he fell and got hurt, he sued and he won and he was drunk the whole time!!! I hate hearing people doing stuff like that and they ruin good railroads like the OHCR.
Pray that they get running again like they used too!
Her sister the 1395 is right here in Coopersville Michigan and there's a small group that wants to get her operational again but they can only afford cosmetic restoration and unless someone else buys her she won't ever run like the 1551, but this will be a great inspiration for them to never give up because look at her, she's beautiful in this clip, hopefully she can be as beautiful as the 1551 someday. I wish OHCR would run steam again too. Keep praying that it will happen.
I love the PRR 1223 and the Strasburg 89 too. If gas prices weren't so expensive I'd drive out there myself to see them and I'm a good three to four days away from them!
i rode it in 2001

When Ohio Central moves their shops and Jerry wants to do it. Most likely two to three years.

It sounds like it because the 6325 has a whistle that sounds exactly like that.

the rairoad still operates but the steam excursions to baltic were discontinued in 2003 due to the rising insurance cost.

I live in Sugarcreek. It's so awesome. Ya, the train is out of business, well, not exactly. it still transfers deliveries.

They go out of business?
BigUnitBeef 4 years ago
My understanding is that they shut down this branch due to skyrocketing costs of insurance, etc.

Figures...leave it to the insurance companies to ruin things. How much money do those vultures need anyhow?
