  • THIS Album = incredible ,.... ( But they just get better from here,.... )

  • extra...

  • is there anyway you could do the remastered wind and wuthering? I haven't heard it but I've heard good things

  • @MangoPudding21

i will do it in the next days ;)

  • aaaaahhhhh. Classic Genesis. Least recognized in it's time, but up in the same rank as ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson. Joy!

  • Man, starting an album with a song like Watcher of the Skies.. I knew this band was gonna be played a LOT in my house!

  • Actually, the Oxford performance was 21/10/1972 according to Marmalade Skies, the month Foxtrot was released.

  • By far the best Genesis album ever. Timeless. I saw them perform this live in Oxford in circa 1973. Lindisfarne were support. Peter Gabriel was/is genius. I just wish he would concentrate on the music. Foxtrot is now FORTY years old. It will still be being played in another 40 years when I am, and all of Genisis are, dead and gone. Makes you think, does not it?

  • How the hell could 2 people dislike this? I wonder how long this will be up untill it's taken down. Everyone go buy this album if you don't yet own it !!!

  • Foxtrot, Selling England..., The Lamb...

    Masterpieces.

  • Supper's Ready... ah, a pure masterpiece

  • Having listened to this over 1000 times since 1991 - this is the best mix i've ever heard, so can hear tony and steve properly, and the vocals sound fresh. Sounds like it was recorded in the 90's instead of the 'flat' 70's Charisma recording sound P.Collins used to moan about.

  • thanks

  • 2 fuckin` justin bieber fans were here!

  • @RChantada Please can you not write his name on a Genesis video :P Thank You :P

  • i miss have sex with my ex to this album

(well, maybe LAMB might win overall, but this is second)

  • Compared to and contrasted with Genesis all other rock n roll is chop-stix . .

  • this 'un rools, o captain gawd....

  • python, can you make this available on mobiles please, cheers!

  • I worked in the music industry for over 20 years. 1981-2002. Working in distribution for BMG and CEMA (EMI Music Dist.) I was exposed to an endless array of genres and varying artist's from many labels aside form the one's we distributed. One of my old colleagues put forth a question on facebook about a year ago asking something like "What is the greatest song you ever heard" put down the 1st song that comes to mind. For me it was "Suppers Ready"....

  • Genesis .... #1 on my all time music list, so happy to find this album too.

  • oui,effectivement,une "Masterpiece"

  • Gabriel's Genesis ruined me for all pop music to follow, exception maybe Pink Floyd's Animals. Had to listen to industrial until Buckethead.

  • "Can't you feel our souls ignite Shedding ever changing colours In the darkness of the fading night Like the river joins the ocean As the germ in a seed grows We have finally been freed to get back home. There's an angel standing in the sun And he's crying with a loud voice "This is the supper of the mighty one" Lord Of Lords King of Kings Has returned to lead his children home To take them to the new Jerusalem."
  • @roderbigliazzi ...hell yea! come back Lord Jesus............

  • @roderbigliazzi wow, heavy

  • to hear Supper's Ready end to end remastered as such just makes me feel such melancholy AND happiness...memories of days gone by....Peter and Genesis...another era really....my older sister and I having wondrous summer days listening to music of this genre together..all I can say is LOVE THIS SHIT!!!!!

  • In this remastered version, with Supper's Ready, there are obvious changes to the mix, which makes it sound better to me, especially cleaning up Mike's bum notes on the pedals at the end (finally!), and Phil's drumming during SR's fade out. It's mirrorring Mike's guitar riff (the triplets), and turning that into a groove that makes it less pompous, not very well favoured by prog standards, i.e., the more pomp the better.

  • I was 9 when this came out but my sisters and brother were older and turned me on to this fabulous music. We still have this album somewhere. People have no idea what the original early Genesis sounds like. Much better than the newer stuff.

  • What a beautiful album, everything is perfect. Theses guys are FAR of their time. This album is the album of the millenium. Genesis, thank you for sharing your passion to us so we can cry while listening to it and have an amazing moment. This album is my favorite and will stay my favorite of all time. I LOVE GENESIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Time Table <3

    Watcher of the Skies <333

    Supper's Ready <333333333

    THIS ENTIRE ALBUM <33333333333333333333

  • Very cool . Thanks

  • Brilliant.

  • One of the greatest gift Genesis had ever done the world!

  • In this days only depressing and violent music polluted this generation.

  • I hope this Genesis album will grant them artistical immortality

  • @JonniTroll I'm not Nostradamus, but I'm pretty sure it already has.

One, two hundreds years from now, they will be mentioned in a same breath with Davis, Coltrane, Rachmaninoff, McLaughlin, Gershwin, Zappa, Armstrong, Ponty and few others as the best composers of this past century.

Got to give it to these and some other English progers. They did compose some of the most beautiful music ever.

  • Thanks so much! My favorite album <3

  • dificil no quedar impresionado, es una verdadera obra maestra de principio a fin.

  • Great album just like the other Genesis w/ Peter Gabiel albums, just brilliant

  • Introduction of this album is heavily inspired by the Crimson King - In the Wake of Poseidon

  • Great music, and a masterpiece... But with one of the most horrible covers I've ever seen

  • @YpSiLoN666 Is you typical art found in most Prog albums' covers. I know they all look like that mafioso's canvas in "Mickey Blue Eyes", not all were lucky enough to find a Roger Dean to create them.

  • @YpSiLoN666 god bless the loser who ever bought an album for it's cover

  • @49gdawg Well, actually I have discovered some cool music because I just liked the cover and said "Let's check this out". You know, it's not always like that, but for me, the cover is part of the whole piece of art together with the music

  • @YpSiLoN666 my point being...the cover here DOES NOT reflect the music...that is all.

  • @YpSiLoN666 you damn right!! fucking love this album since I bought way back when in 94, and I was only 17!!!

  • @rick4777 Welcome to the club - You have a very old soul, my friend.

  • @49gdawg Guilty!

  • Oh God!! This delicious to my ears I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Great album, but the remaster is too bright and compressed for my taste. Thanks for posting though.

  • best prog band...king crimson and van der graaf generator is right up there with them

  • @fieldofhatsify YES?

  • There's something special about this Genesis album... I cant explain it.

  • Thanks so much for posting this album.

  • Classic album... The best Genesis album with Peter Gabriel... in my opinion this album is better then "Selling England By The Pound" some fans will disagree with me but that's cool...

  • thank you for posting this!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolute brilliance!

  • two words... fuckin' masterpiece!!!!!!

  • @shokopando one of my all times

  • what year did this album come out and was it there 2nd 3rd 4th 5th album etc etc ??

  • @jonnybone100 1972 fourth album.

  • This is a Prog Rocker's dream album. A masterpiece.

  • One of the best album ever recorded.

And they were only 22 yo boys !!!!!

  • great¡¡¡¡ great¡¡¡¡

  • Thanks a lot for your reply dntlss! I guess this feeling of sadness also has a lot to do with the melodies themselves. I don't get the same feeling when I listen to Yes or ELP.

  • Supper's Ready is my favorite. Don't you get the impression that Genesis early albums sound melancholic? Or is it just me?

  • @Artemissa1965 its not just you, i feel the same way, i think it had a lot to do with peters voice, he does have a beautiful voice but im one of those that likes genesis all the way, old and new.

  • @Artemissa1965 kinda stupid- that's like saying Beethoven's music sounds "classical" open your ears AND mind!

  • @49gdawg If you feel my comment was stupid, why don't you impress me with your intelligence instead of being aggressive? Your intolerance just makes me feel sorry for you.

  • Absolutely awesome!!!!! Thank you python7275

  • THANK YOU. Masterpiece.. One of the magnificent 4 ( albums)... Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and Trick of the Tail...JMHO.

  • @Burt472 You forgot Lambs Lies On Broadway :P

  • timeless

  • I share your taste my friend.

  • You come to Durham, you got an open tab.

BEST Genesis second side. Oh... and the second side is the album! :P

  • Bless you python7275 wherever you are for sharing this masterpiece. Brought me back to my adolescence and the best of the best: Genesis with peter Gabriel. Thank you, Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GENESIS might as well have decided to make money since they didn't have anything else to say.

  • Superior musicianship speaking as a musician...but lacks emotive force, veracity and sincerity. It's just a show-off compilation. I can't believe I was impressed with this back in the 70s.This album says nothing...except to musicians.

  • @mgholb47

YES did it better, forever. Or RUSH, actually.

  • @mgholb47 Tobes of Hades lit by flickering torchlight...Yes, I agree with you.

  • @paullavan2011 lol okay that is one of few examples

  • @paullavan2011 having said that i disagree with the other guys point of view...

  • @mgholb47 nope...they didn't

  • @fieldofhatsify Yes, they do. I like Yes much better than Genesis. Also, Jethro Tull (I know they're not prog per se, only on ocassion, but when they are... WOW).

  • @mgholb47 -- uh, are you sure you're on the right page? Genesis were known for being able to do prog with feeling...

  • @SonOfYoungwood - - - I flagged mgholb47's posts as spam,

especially the one being presumptuous about what others

have to be to think of this music in a certain way. That post

of his does not count. What I would beat in the brains of

users is them being presumptuous and/or insincere and

passing those off as valid arguments. mgholb47 has just

    fast-tracked himself as a nonargument-maker and his

    posts are null and void.

  • @mgholb47 I guess 98% of people are fucking musicians then...read the comments idiot! If you said this shit anywhere near me-you would get the "emotive force" of the toe of my boot up your arse...and I am a lover NOT a hater - and BTW I suppose you shouldn't have time for petty little comments like your own as YOU are a "musician"...probably have a huge contract....lots of cash...a giant fan base...tons of friends...oh, I guess I'm wrong :)

  • @49gdawg lol, hands down, man

  • But what happened to the original artwork?

  • masterpiece

  • Very nice to hear this remastered! One of the best "Fusion" albums of all time, in my opinion, along with Close to the Edge / Relayer by Yes, and Moving Waves by Focus.

  • Thanks for sharing the best Genesis album.

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant.

  • It is great.....

  • Incredible.

  • Somptueux ! Ecouté et réécouté des centaines de fois depuis mes 18 ans et j' en ai 56 !

  • This album's a fucking classic!

  • The best of it!

    Ich sage.....DANKE

  • Maravilloso! un disco perfecto que cuenta una historia subjetiva. Peter Gabriel Maestro y Genesis, el mejor complemento.

  • so good!!!

  • This album was way ahead of its time, as were many albums conceived and produced by Genesis during this era. Supper's Ready combined complex rhythms and sounds unmatched by any one, with maybe the exception of Van Der Graaf Generator (Pawn Hearts), or some of King Crimson's work. Nice job putting this together! I hadn't listened to the back side of Supper's Ready in many years. Thanks. -Randy

  • @AirTrashed You are absolutely right this album is a classic & was way ahead of it's time...

  • Que Obra Tán más chingona de GENESIS..!!! Bueno Toooodas.... !!! Gracias por poner la obra completa.... Gracias por todos los recuerdos.. Saludos

  • Thank you Genesis for writing and recording this album and thank you python7275 for sharing it.

Gràcies, Gènesis, per compondre i gravar aquest disc!

  • @Vadorization 7

    Glad you liked it :)

  • @Vadorization 7

    Glad you liked it :)

  • @Vadorization Sí senyor, no hi ha res com una mica de rock progressiu per començar el dia, malauradament el gènere no està gaire estès pel panorama català...
