The quran is more accurate than this. It describes the earth as egg shaped and that it swims in am orbit around the sun. It has only been discovered recently that the earth is not a perfect sphere and that it is egg shaped. Likewise, the earth oscillates while orbiting the sun.

This is based on 2 measurements, pole to pole and the diameter - the former being shorter than the latter. This is generally accepted as being the case, however across the equator sunset times vary, being longer on one side and shorter on the other. This evidence would suggest that the curvature of the earth along the equator varies on either side giving us an egg shaped earth.

From a former Muslim to a seemingly current Muslim, I suggest you question your faith and your loyalty to your religion. Christians, Jews, and Hindus can come with as much evidence for their religion's credibility as you have. Further, some of your "evidence' for the Qur'an's credibility consists of Greek discoveries made centuries before Islam or Christianity came into being. One needs to look being your religion and culture and look at some actual history.
I remember one specific of your video, but Greeks discovered that the earth was round, and figured this around around 600 or 400 years before Christianity and about a thousand years before Muhammed was born. They did so through math, and through watching ships disappear over the horizon. Furthermore, people would have been able to map the position of earth in relation to the stars and sun, because learned men had nothing better to do at night than stare at the sky.
The fact that the Qur'an mentions these things proves nothing about the Qur'ans divinity, because the coastal Arab cities were large trading centers and people certainly weren't ignorant of ancient science. Maybe it was a huge discovery among barbarian Visigoths and Celts, but it certainly wasn't for anyone who had any contact with philosophers and scientists of the pre-Islamic, even pre-Christian world.

That aside, embryology was already known by Galen and Hippocrates centuries before Muhammad. One hadith says that the clot stage of the embryo is 40 days, mudgah stage 40 days and the bone/flesh stage 40 days. In reality, the embryo is developed after 60 days at most.

I highly suspect you will see it as anti-islamic propaganda, but I too used to be a muslim and used to think like this. Until I started researching if what is said in such videos is true. Go look for yourself, objectively. After that, read the Quran again and Hadith and ask yourself if that is what a divine book would look like.

@faro0485 This is not rocket science. The Quran says bones and muscles develop sequentially (first bones, muscles clothe the bones afterwards). One of the reasons why the Quran says that could be the fact that Greek scientists (Galen, Hippocrates and Aristotle) wrote works on embryology, both in animals and humans, centuries before Muhammad. By Muhammad's time, their findings/knowledge were widespread.
But they were wrong, development is simultaneous. Quran made the same mistake.

These kinds of stories don't really impress me, knowing that in the first decade or so after Muhammad's 'prophethood', he only had about a 100 followers. This is not what one would expect from the messenger of God spreading a truly mesmerizing and truthful message. If the Ayas were the words of God, Muhammad wouldn't have struggled.

@johncrab67 Very true, all the mistakes found in contemporary knowledge are also found in the Qur'an, showing without doubt that it does not raise our consciousness or knowledge one jot above what was know at that time. A good example is that the Qur'an says that the Sperm holds the whole life form and the woman is merely an incubator for the foetus. Aristotle also believed this 5 centuries previous.

If you mean it contains some facts that agree with modern science then OK I accept that as plausible and it should be acknowledged and respected for this.
But if you are trying to insist that these references to science, in the Quran, somehow justify it's claims of having come from a supernatural source, then you are being intellectually dishonest. Islam and Christianity will need to present far more than old books to prove that claim.

The quran is more accurate than this. It describes the earth as egg shaped and that it swims in am orbit around the sun. It has only been discovered recently that the earth is not a perfect sphere and that it is egg shaped. Likewise, the earth oscillates while orbiting the sun.

However, what I am curious about is the helio-centric idea of the solar system as interpreted in the Quran. @vryc The current model that scientists are pushing is that the earth is an oblate spheriod - pumpkin shaped. This is based on 2 measurements, pole to pole and the diameter - the former being shorter than the latter. This is generally accepted as being the case, however across the equator sunset times vary, being longer on one side and shorter on the other. This evidence would suggest that the curvature of the earth along the equator varies on either side giving us an egg shaped earth.

Aristotle described "fire" or the sun being in the center and the earth rotating around it -- in the 4th century AD. +800 years before Muhammad.
Greek philosophers realized that the Earth was round -- again, long before Muhammad.
The Qu'ran says that water is the fundamental building block of life -- Thales said the same - hundreds of years before.

How do you feel about Sura 4:34? Your husband can beat you lightly if he suspects you of running around on him, or refuse sex if he doesn't like how you behave. But in Christian marriage 1Cor7 3-4 neither husband or wife can refuse sex unless they both agree to it for reasons of prayer. Ephesians 5:21-31 says that wives should submit to there husbands and husbands should sacrifice himself for his wife and think the Christian view of marriages is much better.

thomas, u are aware that there are two other steps BEFORE a guy is allowed to lay hand on his wife right? should he feel that she's not being a good wife etc, he should first advise her. If that fails, then he could separate himself from his wife in bed (as a sign of protest and punishment by restraining having sex with her ).. if that fails too, then only he is allowed to lightly hit her, and even that it does NOT mean hitting her with the intention of hurting but more as a reminder

Christians, Jews, and Hindus can come with as much evidence for their religion's credibility as you have. I remember one specific of your video, but Greeks discovered that the earth was round, and figured this around around 600 or 400 years before Christianity and about a thousand years before Muhammed was born. They did so through math, and through watching ships disappear over the horizon. Furthermore, people would have been able to map the position of earth in relation to the stars and sun, because learned men had nothing better to do at night than stare at the sky.

The fact that the Qur'an mentions these things proves nothing about the Qur'ans divinity, because the coastal Arab cities were large trading centers and people certainly weren't ignorant of ancient science. Maybe it was a huge discovery among barbarian Visigoths and Celts, but it certainly wasn't for anyone who had any contact with philosophers and scientists of the pre-Islamic, even pre-Christian world.

@cynicalmd Knowing Keith Moore was paid by the Saudi's to make the claims he said on the well known outdated conference, I don't consider a book of him as independent. That aside, embryology was already known by Galen and Hippocrates centuries before Muhammad. One hadith says that the clot stage of the embryo is 40 days, mudgah stage 40 days and the bone/flesh stage 40 days. In reality, the embryo is developed after 60 days at most.

I highly suspect you will see it as anti-islamic propaganda, but I too used to be a muslim and used to think like this. Until I started researching if what is said in such videos is true. Go look for yourself, objectively. After that, read the Quran again and Hadith and ask yourself if that is what a divine book would look like.

@faro0485 This is not rocket science. The Quran says bones and muscles develop sequentially (first bones, muscles clothe the bones afterwards). One of the reasons why the Quran says that could be the fact that Greek scientists (Galen, Hippocrates and Aristotle) wrote works on embryology, both in animals and humans, centuries before Muhammad. By Muhammad's time, their findings/knowledge were widespread.
But they were wrong, development is simultaneous. Quran made the same mistake.

But there were, like Asma bint Marwan, the poet who criticized Muhammad, who in turn had her killed for this. If you take away the so called miracles like the 'inimitability' of the Quran, the 'science', ... all you are left with is some old scripture dictated by a simple 7th century reformist. Not a prophet.

The Greeks even figured out the approximate size of the earth, the moon, and the distance between them and they did this without need of prophecy or modern equipment.

fasting is good for the body. this is scientifically proven. but, there is a proper way to fast. that is why islam asks us to eat at dawn to fill the stomach and only fast for about 12-13 hours

the sunnah and hadiths are all based on the Quran.Quran's not based on the sunnah nor hadiths.look thru the contents of the Quran.from beginnig till end.u will realise that the contents cannot be written nor spoken by any human being.the words are all too exact.

Quran:9:111 The Believers fight in Allahs Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.
Quran:9:29 Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.
Tabari IX:25 "By Allah, I did not come to fight for nothing. I wanted a victory over Ta'if so that I might obtain a slave girl from them and make her pregnant."

yogurt040life , Quran is a compilation of collection of verses spoken by Muhammad. It was collected from various sources (not comming down fro Allah).
Collection of these verses into one book is not insructed by Muhammad.
The first compilation and its manuscript was destroyed by Utham the he created second version compilation.
Today Quran is not the original.

Read! in the name of thy lord. He who have created the Earth and seven heavens.
another verse from surah Al-Qiyamah:
and (Muhammad) do not even move your tongue even before the angel finished the verse in the Quran.
this verse tells tht Muhammad cannot read nor write, much less read the Quran, much less write it. so how can you say that Quran is a compilation of poems from muhammad?

Sahih Bukhari 09.092.468
" the Prophet said, "Come near let me write for you a writing after which you will never go astray."
What happen in Hira cave was probably the alien presented him an unknown writing, which he could not read.
Remember Muhammad was a businessman doing Kadijah business. before he became a prophet.
