Look, they're both great shows. A lot of Brits hate the American one because they're "stealing" (Ricky Gervais is not only one of the producers of the U.S. show, but one of the creators) or it's unfunny to them. The UK and the US are two different cultures. They have different senses of humor. What's funny to Brits (is that offensive? "Brits"? Is there a technical term?) might not be funny to Americans. It's simple.

@TardisAdventures Thanks for your reply. This ( most excellent ) show has been broadcast on UK TV, before. Either ITV 2 or ITV 4. I used to watch it regularly. Had to record it tho, because some bright spark thought it should go out at 1.am in the morning or even later. Its a crime that it aint shown on Terrestrial TV at a decent time.

the US version, refreshingly clean compared to the original. doesn't resort to "cock jokes" too much the way the UK version does over and over and over and over and over. The UK version isn't as "dry" as people say; it's just full of sex jokes, like they couldn't think of much else to put on the screen.

lets NOT turn this into some massive debate on which office is better. I personally enjoy the US one better but I grew up with the english one and understand people who argue for it (lol). In other words sophisticatedmike, each one to his/her own and you can watch which one you like best. We don't have to get angry at each other over a Tv show, however good it is :)

I'm a little mixed over which one is better, but the US one seems to be much more subtle (not necessarily in humour, but more in its satire of the office life) - it pokes fun of working in an office, but it does so with affection. The UK one is far more biting and witty, but it relies far too much on 'painful' and awkward comedy. It's funny, but I can only take so much of that style for a while. It depends whether you prefer the upbeat and subtle US to the UK version, which holds nothing back.
