  • I am so glad that eyeearbrain.webs.com sent me here. Best vid ever!

  • @ Dr. Zenith Except that it is relevant. Even Clark acknowledges (if only too quickly) the "Saracen" roots of Gothic romance. I'm waiting to see what he does with the Toledo library horde.

  • @DrZenith And you replied to my reply by recapping what I said, adding your own elitist flavour. Thanks?

  • I would not say that traditional behavior towards woman is all gone. (I would not speak of sex in front of any woman, except my doctor, and even then in a bland manner). Men do want to be gallant, but feminism insists that all that is silly and antique, and so men's higher impulses are repulsed by the very objects to which they are offered, like sacrifices spruned by the goddess, and men default to their animal drives: and pornography and the sex trades swell with patrons.

  • how do you spell that what the french say which is often confused with civilisation?

  • @phisquik Re your question about what the French say: I think it's the expression "La douceur de vie" or "La douceur de vivre", which means the sweetness of life or living...

  • @theone1087 I wouldn't say there's a bias, per se. It's just that this particular series is about civil evolution in Western Europe. It doesn't try to deny or play down the Islamic contributions. They're just irrelevant here, the same way, say, Native American mythology would be irrelevant in a documentary on the Quran. Fortunately, there are also many "extremely biased" books and shows on Islamic civilization out there that don't mention England or even Brazil, if you prefer.

  • @Inediblehulk You politely replied to a spam where a crank called this series racist because it hardly mentions ancient Egypt or Islam. This series never claimed to be a history of civilizations; it's about Western civilization, its art and culture which has, after all, been the most influential civilization in the world. (Islamic culture, in any case, has remained stagnant since the middle ages. It has often resisted western knowledge and science. It has no relevance to the modern world.)

  • And even today, if you tune into a random radio station and hear an acoustic guitar, it may take you as much as 45 seconds to determine if a song is about a woman, or Jesus' perfect love.

  • @hymnofashes Well you obviously dont live in England lol...songs about Jesus are few and far between outside of a church...

  • Superb.

Proof that Newton Minnow was only 98% correct about television.

  • the women in the pictures are extremely sexy!
