Back in the early '90's I used to collect hockey stickers that were sold in those sticker mania vending machines. For a joke, I stuck a little Winnipeg Jets sticker on the window of a bowling alley bar right below the neon "Budweiser" sign. It remained there for years before it finally faded and was removed by some random custodian. :(

Now, the SUN BELT teams are where the problem is... I can't think of one good reason why the people in Phoenix, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale (Fort L. is where the Panthers play.) have NHL franchises they could honestly care less about (Unless they make the playoffs, which is the only time Sun Belt fans seem to "care."), while Canadian towns with TRUE fans like Winnipeg, Quebec, and Hamilton don't have a team to cheer on in the NHL.

Carolina is the only "Sun Belt" team with loyal fans.

It's sad.

I'm a little offended that some people on here are classifying all American Hockey Teams has getting the support of the Sun Belt teams...

Hell, I'm a fanatical New Jersey Devils fan, and I'll admit that while we have a tiny hockey market (due to the Rangers and Flyers being right there first and getting a headstart in fan support) and don't always sell out our building, we remain just as passionate about our team as other Canadian franchise's fans... And that's a FACT.

In a nutshell, the Jets left because the owners needed a new Facility that would allow them to generate the money needed to support the NHL.Unfortuently, the arena was not built in time and the Owners had no choice but to sell. There is a stigma attached to the Jets franchise leaving that it was because of the Attendance, well; the Attendance had nothing to do with them leaving. In an arena where there were 5000+ obstructed view seats, we did VERY well!

the song is called Jets Fight/Wear White. It was featured on an album ("Hockey Rock Winnipeg Style.") released during the Jets final season in Winnipeg to raise money for Goals for Kids. Half the songs (including this one) were original, but some of them were remakes of classic rock tunes by Manitobans. Innocence (Harlequin) became Numminen. You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet (Randy Bachman) became That's One Hot Russian Jet and Streetheart's One More Time became One More Save, about Khabibulin

Actually, there IS snow in North Carolina, how about that! Raleigh really doesn't give a crap about baseball, they are too into College Basketball/Football to care about that. Hockey is doing just fine in North Carolina, and unless the team starts bottoming out every season, it will only get better! The 'Canes are not going anywhere. =)

Americans will NEVER care about hockey because they can't just go down to the pond or community club and play some real hockey. You need kids being able to do that to create interest. They have their football and basketball because you can play them anywhere.

actually there's rumors about an expansion in Toronto, meaning toronto would have two teams and Hamilton/Quebec/Winnipeg would lose a big chance to get one if only one team decided to relocate. According to Bettman the first city on the list to get a relocated team would be Kansas City. Wtf? The Scouts drew 2000 fans a game during their stay in the NHL there.

Very true however; let's not forget that Bettman also said at the '07 All Star Game Press Meeting that, IF there was a Canadian city to recieve a relocated / expansion team, it would be "Winnipeg First" in order to "right a wrong"..... ( Then again, it's Bettman so, who knows! )

GM's and owners have said that that Toronto Rumor was simply that; a Rumor. There was no such talk. I can only hope Winnipeg was on their topic of discussion for gods sake!

Based on how Minnesota old team only had 11000 fans a game (I think one year they had 7000) and their new one has 18000 and based on how USA is not a hockey country maybe in 10 years Winnipeg will have two NHL teams

It was such an amazing place to see ( or not be able to cleary see... ) Hockey. As far as i'm concerned, The Jets left in '96 but, the heartache got even worse when they torn that building down....

MTS Centre however WILL host & be the sight of new memories soon when the NHL Returns to Winnipeg! A Place it should never have left.....

And lost a sport that is like a religion to these people, in a country that loves the game and will always love the game.
