If you want to do latin rhythms this is the video to get. although I found it to be in the advanced category, the beginner probably won't catch on immediately. but, you won't be disappointed like with 'some' drumming tutorial videos.
I watch this video at least once per month. this is mind boggling independence on the foot pedals. I just watched it today in fact.
I'd like to see more in the slow down/explanation categories. but this is not beginner stuff really it's more advanced.
i am really looking for c.d.s or songs in this style with a drum set players hopefully to learn from or to play along with any suggestions? thanx much
I love the sound of MMX, my drums are also Pearl MMX... But, this kind of sound it's only achieved when a "perpetual student" ;-) like yourself actually hit them!
HI Micheal. Try Muñequitos de Matanza, NG La Banda, Afro cuban all stars, Tito Puente, Ray Barreto...ufff there are so many great ones! Start there:-)
why does foot position have anything to do with how to play a clave? You can play heel toe, or on the ball of your foot... That's just like asking, "why play afrocuban drumming matched grip instead of classical grip?"
@BayonneNick i don't see why this comment go so many thumbs down - it's just a technique thing... i find that playing heel down gives you alot more control.. though it can be difficult to discipline yourself to always playing heel down.

Hey man,i was noticing, your cowbell playing with the left foot is a little bit sloppy from times to times...
I dont know if you noticed and consider this a problem, but im facing the problem of having endurance with the left foot and keep perfect time...
Anyway, keep the great drumming,im learning a lot from you.
Bye!

how would you set up the symbols? Do you need the triangle shape between the ride and high hat?

Excellent drumming and explanations. Do you have any recommended listenings for someone trying to learn this style of music?

heel down is suitable for lower tempos. i think this one it's supposed to played with heel up due to the moderate tempo.

Why not? If it feels good.

Nice production. Good info even for those of us born with the clave in their blood. Thank you!
