I don't care if any films has state of the art special effects or cheap ass smartphone vidcam, as long as the story and the direction is tops, that's all that matters. Whoever did 'Colin' got skills. Kudos, man.
@FatherPeru CGI is taking over film now. No-one seems to want to shoot on location as it's easier and cheaper to make special effects for the location. In a way, it's slightly lazy as well. A film doesn't need CGI to be awesome.
It was this feature that inspired me to make a micro-budget film. 'Colin' is a fine example of what can be achieved with the right resources, hard work and a lot of determination.

I have to admit that i didnt enjoy the film because i just cant watch a film with a wobbly cam its too distracting and makes me feel sick but on the other hand it was a great idea for a zombie film, i know that it is very low budget and that they had to make the most of what they had. i hope that this idea will be used again because it would make a change from the usual zombie films that keep comming out. Great idea but makes me feel dizzy.

Just ordered it off of amazon. Hoping it gives me that rough, raw, nightmarish experience like the original Night of the Living Dead. I think Romero's Land, Diary and Survival of the Dead movies were entertaining but "wak". Even he can't do it anymore...or won't. Low budget and totally independent are good. Fuck Hollywood. And you don't have to live, write, work, produce, direct and film in Hollywood to still be Hollywood cranking out the same ol' crap.
People who complain about this movie are the simple minded fools who think remakes are better than the originals and that we need more Saw movies. Remember when people actually liked something different and original? I loved this movie. It's one of the best zombie movies I've seen in years.
It would cost more than $75 just for the food coloring (fake blood) and zombie makeup. It must have been one of those "generously donated by. . ." type of things.

But I don't watch them because they are by him. How could you knock this? I find the most critical people are people who do not make films or just can't. As a film maker-I applaude what this film maker did and his budget.
Watched this on the Horror Channel a few weeks ago and I have to be honest, it was brilliant. The end were the zombie Colin makes it back to his house and it reverts back to how he actually got bit is simply brilliant. I would advise anyone who likes this genre of horror to watch it.
I mean it's not something to be proud of only spending £45 on the film, I know thats just marketing talking, I mean he would have spend more than that. After all even travel costs for the director himself should have been part of the budget. I mean work lights are what like, £20 or something, Buy 3 or 4 or those and bingo you have quite a lot of light for like £60 quid. I actually bought this film and i'm glad I did, not because it's good, I think it's terrible but because it's bad. The obvious mistakes in this movie will hopefully stand out enough for other people to realise and make better movies. One thing in this film that shouldn't of been neglected was Lighting, in most scenes the lighting is terrible. I mean even if you can;'t afford Arri's or Redheads atleast get some work lights and light the thing.

@Davejohnable I've seen great budget cinema. Don't get me wrong, it's not the budget that lets this down. Acting can be covered by local people and still make a good film (See: Clerks), so that's no excuse. With modern technology, a film shot and edited this badly has no excuse on grounds of budget. But more so: The piss-poor script and direction. Awfully, awfully executed by the film-maker. It seems to have been made by someone with only a vague idea what a film is.
I've got my own film coming out soon, and I respect everyone's opinion. If you love it, great. If not, that's great too. Art is subjective, and I would never insult someone, just because they have a different opinion of my film, this film, or any other.
If you liked the film, the great. But you need to respect the fact that any film will have a wide variety of opinions, and your opinion about the film isn't the end all be all.

OK first of all, i did watch that movie and it has intressting parts, sure not all things are great, but thats not different in many other movies like this. There is a lot more crap out there which were produced with a much higher budget. And that it is 4:3 really sucks btw. But hey i really dont expect to much for 50$. You should really watch the full movie before commenting here.
@RobTyler87 In all the interviews they received nothing more than favours from people such as using their kitchen. They used equipment that they already owned privately, and most of the £45 spent was on Tea and biscuits on the last day of shooting. The most they were given was peoples time. I suppose time is money.

the fake blood was constructed with golden syrup, coffee, red food dye and hot chocolate granules- hardly breaking the bank.
Plus, the skin effects were created using dried liquid latex, which also isn't very expensive.

I remember seeing this DVD in Tesco, so I bought it thinking "Well, even if it's shit, it's only a couple of quid." However...
It was not shit.
Extremely clever, brilliant, yet subtle, story line and surprisingly moving final scenes.
If you don't like it, why not go watch some tripe film staring a wrestler or something?

Watched this on the Horror Channel a few weeks ago and I have to be honest, it was brilliant. The end were the zombie Colin makes it back to his house and it reverts back to how he actually got bit is simply brilliant. I would advise anyone who likes this genre of horror to watch it.

Who ever says that this film is just about a zombie doing nothing hasn't seen it.
Their are seens that are very drawn out, but the story itself is very moving, not exciting or frightening but moving.
It does require a bit of intelegnce to work out the story, not because its complicated but because it doesn't tell you straight out.

I mean it's not something to be proud of only spending £45 on the film, I know thats just marketing talking, I mean he would have spend more than that. After all even travel costs for the director himself should have been part of the budget. I mean work lights are what like, £20 or something, Buy 3 or 4 or those and bingo you have quite a lot of light for like £60 quid. I mean it's not perfect but better than nothing, sorry no excuse. rant over

I actually bought this film and i'm glad I did, not because it's good, I think it's terrible but because it's bad. The obvious mistakes in this movie will hopefully stand out enough for other people to realise and make better movies. One thing in this film that shouldn't of been neglected was Lighting, in most scenes the lighting is terrible. I mean even if you can;'t afford Arri's or Redheads atleast get some work lights and light the thing.

lol at everyone saying it's boring, no storyline etc. if you took into account the budget/shooting location and casting you would appreciate the film for what it is. it isn't supposed to be a hollywood blockbuster but it's supposed to demonstrate what can be done with a simplistic budget. give praise where praise is needed and don't go to insult as soon as it doesn't tickle your fancy.

@Davejohnable I've seen great budget cinema. Don't get me wrong, it's not the budget that lets this down. Acting can be covered by local people and still make a good film (See: Clerks), so that's no excuse. With modern technology, a film shot and edited this badly has no excuse on grounds of budget. But more so: The piss-poor script and direction. Awfully, awfully executed by the film-maker. It seems to have been made by someone with only a vague idea what a film is.

I've got my own film coming out soon, and I respect everyone's opinion. If you love it, great. If not, that's great too. Art is subjective, and I would never insult someone, just because they have a different opinion of my film, this film, or any other.
If you liked the film, the great. But you need to respect the fact that any film will have a wide variety of opinions, and your opinion about the film isn't the end all be all.

OK first of all, i did watch that movie and it has intressting parts, sure not all things are great, but thats not different in many other movies like this. There is a lot more crap out there which were produced with a much higher budget. And that it is 4:3 really sucks btw. But hey i really dont expect to much for 50$. You should really watch the full movie before commenting here.

@RobTyler87 In all the interviews they received nothing more than favours from people such as using their kitchen. They used equipment that they already owned privately, and most of the £45 spent was on Tea and biscuits on the last day of shooting. The most they were given was peoples time. I suppose time is money.
