Ok, so I caught a snake in my yard that looks simular to this one and he flares his head this way too but I can not find anyone that can tell me what kind of snake he is. I have him now in a tank untill I can identify him he has whit spots all down the center of his back though. Is he one of these?
@AthyNa100 Not true. Boa's have cat like eyes and they are non venomous. Some Cobra's have round pupils and also Coral snakes. They are venomous obviously.
@sgtjeremyh well i got it off the nature channel and in a book but i dont know they could be wrong. p.s some snakes may have cat like eyes to make predators think there venomous so they wont attack them.
i had one of these and she never hooded up at me..

did you know you can tell if a snake is Venomous just by looking at thier eyes.
if thier pupils are round like this little guy there not but if its slim like a cats eye then there not.

The snake is not anery/axanthic. It is a quite typical Eastern Hognose. Heterodon platyrhinos.
