This ia a 1944 re-release trailer, it has a look commonly seen in the 40s. The original 1932 trailer has been lost. The original trailer is thought to more closely resemble the opening credits of the actual film. See the trailer for DINNER AT EIGHT (1933) which would have been another MGM all star cast picture the following year.
Some people said that Greta Garbo should win an Oscar for this movie but I saw the movie and in my personal opinion I think Greta Garbo was so overacted and on top of that sometimes she was speaking in sweedish that of course just as sweedish could understand
GREAT MOVIE IMPROVES WITH AGE .WONDERFUL CAST PERFORM TO A HIGH STANDARD. .JOAN CRAWFORD DOMINATES WITH HER PERFORMANCE AND SEX APPEAL.THOUGH GARBO IN MY OPINION IS THE GREATEST ACTOR IN CINEMA HISTORY.MANY THANKS FOR THIS POSTING OF THIS TRAILER.
Most of us weren't even born in 1932: it's like going back in time in a time-machine of sorts, and seeing how, atleast getting a cross sample of how it was in the pre-internet days of bakelite landline telephones, good hotel service, and well made clothes and shoes that lasted. I wonder what it's like for someone born in the 20s to see, and how nostalgic or not, they may feel, and what memories it may jog for them.Film Noire from the 30's still has alot to teach modern film makers & actors.
Saw this years ago, didn't like it except for J Barrymore, but just saw it again. This is really not a bad flick. L Barrymore kind of annoying in the beginning but he and it, all comes together eventually. Very interesting movie.
Watching it now... Great film!
