i looked up the lyrics.... can anyone tell me what this song means? i think its about a woman looking for her true love, who's a pirate. when she finds him, he's already dead. then it goes to her true love POV, who's standing in heaven or where ever waiting for her.... is that really the meaning of the song?

@DoYouFearDeath333 The Pirate has found love. He goes out in the world as a Pirate, doing what pirates do. He ends up dieing and the Pirate's Bride ends up with no joy or happiness because her love is now dead.

You can find it on Amazon under "You Still Touch Me" by Sting, It is a 4 song CD from The Mercury Falling album. The Pirates Bride was not put on the American album version but it on this CD.

Could somebody explain me what does "Without a care for the ways of men" mean? And the phrases: "with gold on his eyes" and "Full fathom five"? English is not my first language and I have no idea, what it's about, in spite of the fact, that I know the meaning of the words:(

I will try :) The first means that he doesn't care what anyone else has to say about the way he lives his life. "Gold on his eyes" is speaking of the way, in the old days, when someone died people would place coins on someone's eyes (or sometimes in the person's mouth) to pay the ferryman to take them to the afterlife. "Full fathom five" is from Shakespeare's "The Tempest":

Full fathom five thy father lies;

Of his bones are coral made...
