I'm proud to be able to say I was attending shows between 94 and 97. Most energetic period IMO.

All of the kids who used to insist Phish wasn't any tighter/hotter in the '94 tours are changing their tunes when they hear the shows in SBD format, and see the videotape. They were the hottest band anywhere, Nothing could touch them from 1993 -1995 (except for parts of 1996 (Clifford) and fall-winter 1997)

i remember this show! back before the crowd used to jump all over the intro, he actually had to encourage them back here lol. its one of the tunes i rarely enjoy nowadays due to its 'going thru the motions' approach. not so here! inspired, playful, energetic- this was also before people used to shout "hood". peeps at redrocks handed out flyers to the audience beforehand to surprise the band. it got old after a few years imo, just let them play, and let them work for their $70 tickets lol.

A year and a half ago I searched Phish on youtube, no particular reason for the search just lookin for a knew band to listen too, I chose this video and I was absolutely blown away, so much that I can honestly say that I haven't listened to any other band at all ever since. This video turned me into a complete Phish Head, I now have 1200+ live phish songs that I choose from everyday on my ipod, unfortunently I only could attend 1 2night stand this last summer at alpine, BEST WEEKEND OF MY LIFE!

i just heard this for the first time today, and i must say, its the absoultue BEST version of wilson ive EVER heard. too bad i missed it! i wasnt even born yet =[ at least someone got it up here =] i must say, theyre one of the greatest bands of all time along with Dead, Rolling Stones, oh and theres Jimi of course. but theyre definetaly up there. that's when they played on DRUGS!!!! compared to the 03 tour yes wayyyyy tighter but now that there back together (for good hopefully) they sound pretty fucking tight! definitely a more mature sound though. The shows i saw this year sounded almost as good as phish circa 95.

love 94.....and pretty sure drugs played a part in most of Phish's tenure. i do like the new sound, definitely more mature, although i listened to a bunch of fest. 8 and thought it was very vanilla. nothing really made me go wow! as for summer 09, i felt that they played with a new found energy and it was great. guess we're all maturing :)

I must say I agree with you somewhat. If you watch or listen to Phish shows from the late 80's through the mid 90's they're definitely a much tighter band and played with far more enthusiasm. While Trey is certainly a master of guitar I feel his style now is overly technical (for lack of a better term) whereas back in the day he just played what sounded good and clips like this prove that.
