OSalty...this IS the Leon Russell arrangement he did for Joe Cocker. On the upside...this tells me you can use this arrangement without the horn section and the back up singers...BUT...check out the Leon/Joe version on Youtube...it smokes....the reason why Warren covers the tune. There is something to be said for having the idea first.

Joe Cocker's take on "The Letter" with Leon Russell and the Shelter People is an unbelievable song. Originally by the Box Tops, the letter was reinvented by Joe and came out to be a million times better. Check it out some time, and don't make a dick measuring contest by saying blank is better than blank bc that's completely subjective, just enjoy the music and chill. oh, and I've seen clapton, cocker and mule live I know warren's great but show a little respect for 2 legends

To me Warren is just showing respect for his peers and he takes them and makes them his own, they are played Mule style no point in drawing comparisions, Warren just rocks PERIOD.

There's just something wrong here. What are they doing wrong? I can't put my finger on it, but this, like most things modern, is unlistenable for me...its as if the world has forgotten how to play and how to properly mic things. Everytime I watch the 1970 Joe Cocker performance, I am blown away! This? Every cover? Joe's own performane in the 80's? All just...bad!! I can't stand it!! It's mostly today's drummers!! Just terrible!! But, I still have hope.

My favorite is Mule's cover of "The Shape I'm In" by the Band. For Warren has to be "One" his voice is so soulful in it. Can't wait to see Mule here in DC in a couple of weeks.

Awesome, is this from a 2007 show at Red Rocks? I was at there and thoroughly enjoyed "Letter", and the stage looks like Red Rocks. Warren is always rockin' it.
