I'm from Germany and I remember when I watched this for the first time. Me and my brother were cracking up. This has to be one of the funniest music interviews of all time. When Billy says 'Everyone has a misguided perception of my brain' >>> EPIC!
You have to put the interview in context with the time. Everybody thought Billy was an arrogant, self-centered, self-pitying asshole so much that it had sort of become an inside joke. This interviewer WAS just doing his job, but Billy didn't want to take the bait that day. Its fair.
I agree. One thing makes me admire Corgan is his tightness and honesty writing songs like talking for medias. Once Rolling Stone Mag asked him for his favorite band actually and he didn´t name a band from his lable neither his country. He adviced an independent band called SWAVE, giving very good comments about their song "In the future"
I didn't think Billy was being a jackass like so many other commenters are saying. I mean, he's half-smiling throughout the entire interview. He knows (as does Jimmy, who's straight-up laughin) he's messing with the interviewer for asking a question that's basically asking whether or not he's a sad person. Come on. I wouldn't give a serious answer to that question either.
his mum was insane and lived in an institute, so he lived with his dad who was a heroin addict, so yeah i guess he wouldnt wna talk about it lol :( Typical rockstar's anti-press attitude...lovin it ;) corgan's AWESOME
wow you can really tell billy doesnt like this interview, i have always woundered what to ask him if i ever met him, because i would hate to have a coversation with him like he did with this interviewer
Pumpkins lead singer and guitarist Billy Corgan got the inspiration to write the song when a fan at one of their gigs told them her name was Starla. Corgan subsequently discovered that her name was actually Darla.
i doubt he would have said he wrote it on mushrooms when he babbles on about never taking drugs.
i have managed to speak to one of his guitar techs who is a friend of my bass teacher and he told me that tehy were all on crack the whole time, i dunno if its true but i dont see why not.
well not all the time but he used to do crack and a lot of other too heroin,lith,mushrooms..etc but now he found the 'Jesus Light' loll so his new music suckass :P until he go back on drugz but I think we can forget that option loll
HAHAHAHAHA WOW THATS GREAT... billy is fucking awesome, but you know he is right.. billy is just on a completely different level musically than normal people. If you want to call him weird thats ok, but thats what makes such a great musician. his brain functions completely differently
He was just so put-off by having to talk to this interviewer and answer his question. the development of an egotistical jackass, regardless of otherwise awesome performance.
Billy is so high in the interview. hahahaha.

who cares if billy was being a jackass in the interview. that was standard behavior for the time- the early 90's were a very REBELLIOUS time.

Jeez Billy, be nice.
Well the performance was badass. But the interview was, uh, stupid to say the least. I love Jimmy's laugh.
pumpkinhead09 3 years ago
... i'm speechless.
this is pretty much the best thing i've ever seen in my life.
... except for the interview.
i mean, after that totally insane performance, all the guy's got to say is, "are you a sad person?"
everyone asks that.
i could think of a million better things to say than that.

what? you know billy did take drugs right? the whole band did
WeeklyComicReview 3 years ago
yes, i feel that was a peak of live performance for them, touring mellon collie before the death and jimmy's dismissal.
Billy did come off as dismissive and a bit egotistical during the interview.
