There is a widely held-opinion in the Christian communities of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and others that they aren't Arabs simply because they lived there before Islam. I'm pretty well aware not all Arabs are Muslims but the problem arises when you try to make "Arab" out be an ethnicity (which then it only applies to people from the pennisula) or as a broader cultural classification like anyone that speaks Arabic. Lebanon is a complicated situation though.

I don't believe in Biblical or Quranic geneology, so unless there's cold hard fact (there isn't btw, before you waste your time looking,) that Mohammed was a descendant of Abraham I'm not to apt to believe that. Mohammed's language and genetic makeup was from Jazirat el Arabia so he was a true Arab in the genetic and cultural sense.

To use the term "persecute" implies that they don't purposfully attack jewish civilians, which they do. With suicide bomber (to a lesser extent now because the Israeli eventually came to their senses and built a fence) and rockets. While its true that Israel sometime kills innocents civilians (verses those who fight but don't wear uniforms making them un lawful combatants) these incidents are usually accidents. BTW can you name an arab state that allows arabs as much liberty as israel does?

I didnt say that it is unexpected. Its not deliberate, heres an example: Hamas sets up rockets in a Gaza neighborhood. They often st them up near schools, mosques, hospitals and the like. Residential areas in general. They shoot at Israeli towns like Sderot, with the expressed purpose of killing civilians. So the IAF takes the rocket launcher out. They know its in a residential area but have no other choice if they want to save their own families. Hamas does it on purpose sabi?

And one last thing on the last subject; Mizrahi Jews brought along what was basically Arab/Middle Eastern culture and mentality which was often at odds with the dominant European culture of nascent Israel.
I admit that I favor the European egalitarian culture of civil society over the prime-devider cultures of the ME, and many internal cultural disputes have highlighted that gap consistantly. Unfortunately some of that Honor-Shame culture still persists in Israel among some Mizrahi Jews.

No, I'm not 'basically' saying that. Don't put words in my mouth, and a course in reading comprehension would serve you well. Iraqi jews were the highest educated of any other Mizrahi diaspora, while the majority of Ashqenazi jews were secular socialists and not Yeshiva bred so your comparison is wrong on both accounts. As for honour-shame, there might of course be the odd ashkenazi exception, but the rule is prettry unequivical.

The internal Mizrahi vs. Ashkenazi dynamics is very complex, but I would go as far as to say that while Mizrahi Jews were viewed with suspicion and sometimes even disdain by the European Jews, there never was serious discrimination or persecution that goes beyond what was seen in similar cultural 'melting pot' experiments of the 20th century. I rather think the Jews fared off pretty well.

Even the rich and influential Jews were living on borrowed time where every calamity could (and have been) used to rally the masses. The poor Jews were parasites spreading disease, while the rich were conniving to take over - no matter of what status a jew was, there were always libels and conspiracy theories to demonize them, which eventually resulted in pogroms. The exact same attitude permeates today's muslim discourse towards Jews in general and Israel in particular. History repeats itself.

It is worth mentioning that this was not endemic to Muslim countries, but rather the fate of most minorities worldwide. The Jews, however, as opposed to other minorities were better scapegoating candidates, because of a unique set of circumstances.
2. If anything, Zionism was not the cause of Arab/Muslim rage, but rather the excuse for venting existant feelings, as is the case with every bigot. Their rampage against the Jews had only proven the Zionist cause right.

Overall a good documentary, mainly because it touches on a little known subject, but I found the lack of solid data and heavy reliance on personal testimonies wanting.
I would however like to address some of the issues raised in the 'debates' here:
1. Peaceful Jewish existance in Muslim lands prior to Zionism is a myth. It is true that in some places Jews were not a 'unique' minority, but as for other minorities, life was not easy and discrimination,persecution and violence were friquent

There are anusim (Jewish forced converts to Islam) all over the Muslim world to this day, even in countries like Uzbekistan, and there are plenty of historical examples where Jews were massacred by Muslims in the Muslim world.
Even when we weren't being massacred we were tenth class citizens in day to day life.
