@DivineIkari No. If it is screwed it in fine it should not fall down. Anyway some people prefer the whammy bar to stay loose because sometimes it bothers your way while you are playing.

I'd rather use a standard electric with a DigiTech Whammy Pedal. May not be able to use diabolical effects like the "Dive-Bomb" but it at least saves the hassle of off tuning AND reduces the rate of wear stress on your strings.

@haerinarus true. That is why I use a les paul with a whammy pedal. It is harder to use, but you get the same sound without needing to retune your strings every 5 seconds.

I just bought a vintage Kramer Baretta like brand new from 85 that sat in the case for 26 years. It has one hell of a Floyd Rose system on it, the same exact thing as EVH and all of the other great hard rock/metal guitarist from that era. You can go Steve Vai on it and hold it horizontal while slamming it up and down and it stays in tune.

On a standard guitar (mine's a boston strat) - how far down and up can you push/pull the bar? Did it with the old insides and shattered the cast iron that holds the strings in...it was old, but don't wanna do that again! Loosen the springs inside to make it easier?

He should have mentioned that bringing the note up, divebombs, flutter only work on a Floyd Rose/Kahler style tremolo system. With the standard tremolo system that's on f.e Stratocasters you can only push the note down. Not to mention it goes out of tune WAAAAYYYY too easily
