  • When people reach for a higher power they are just people how are lost. They can't figure out life for themsleves. When you have no commone sense you say god did it or helped. If god helped why did you need a gun to defend yourself? Why didn't god just step in at stop it, with his free will magical powers?LOL I am glad she had a gun thats all I can say. She needs to give herself the credit. God did nothing. LMOA!! Koo Koo Koo!

  • she is still a Hero

  • i agree fro the most part...

  • Comment removed

  • If god was with her to stop the gunman why didn't god interfere earlier and save the life of the pastor? clearly god wasn't with her but her law enforcement instincts kicked in.

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely deplorable that a gunman would open fire on a Sunday morning in a church and endanger innocent worshippers.

If he really wanted to avenge those who cause the real damage, he'd have been better off going after those who initiate the evil. Ex: showing up at a week night church board of elders meeting.

That way, innocent women & kids would not have been endangered- and the ones who actually perpetuate offensive policies would have been left to deal with theie consequences.

  • Yes there is no safety in this gun toting, crime ridden country. Not in a church, school, work, or home.

  • It was much better when it was a gun-toting, low-crime country. Unfortunately, liberalism has rotted the place from the inside.

  • Guns seems to be way too important. Any crazy today can shoot up the place. There was even a christian that shot up a church b/c that church was too lax. What a joke.

  • when former student 43-year-old Peter Odighizuwa opened fire in the school with a handgun.

at Appalachian School of Law he was approached by two students with personal firearms they ran to there car got there guns and stoped the guy from killing more students !! by the way the school was gun free Zone !! and that was the only time that a school Massacre was stoped !!

  • Actually, the Texas Tower sniper was stopped by police and a private citizen with the rifle he got from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. He saved the life of a policeman who was about to be shot by the sniper.

  • I think its funny thanking god for preventing a church shooting! What a joke.

  • Liberalism doesnt decide the morality of someone. Why do men take guns and shoot their wives, family...look at the news lately.

  • Well, actually, some of the laws that have gone into effect have raised that violence level. The ones mandating that SOMEONE must be arrested after a domestic call--and mandating the loss of gun rights after three calls--means that many folks figure they have nothing to lose by pulling the trigger cuz they're going to be losing their rights anyway.

Unintended consequences...but if they'd listened to the police who actually deal with the situations, they would have predicted this.

  • kmcl11,

Thank your anti-gun politicians for that. They keep saying we dont want guns all over like the old west. But have you ever heard of a mass church, school, or any other type of gathering mass shooting in the old west?that.

  • But have you ever heard of a mass church, school, or any other type of gathering mass shooting in the old west? murders still happened back then. The pop. was also smaller. The culture of the ppl were the same. Try using that examle in gangland LA.

  • "murders still happened back then" Murders will always happen with or without guns. But have you ever heard of a mass shooting in the old west where good people were carrying guns?

  • Comment removed

  • Good people...no.

  • Actually, murder rates were far higher in the East during the "Old West" times, but the newspaper play was more sensational out west because people carried openly (instead of concealed, in the genteel but murderous east).

  • East?

As were can I find your supporting data? However the "RATE" is possibly correct as in 1860 in the USA there were only bout 31.4 million people as today there are over 300 million people. Just think how high the murder rate would have been in 1860 if only the bad guys had the guns?

  • The probem is we cant collect all the firearms...what I am saying is gun control would not work..because we will only take the guns from law biding people...Look at England since their gun ban,GUN RELATED CRIMES have jumped 40%..so that obviously doesn't work. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE THIS WOMAN!!!

  • I partially agree

  • I partially thumbs up. :-)

  • She didn't eat she didn't sleep. This bitch is crasy

  • You know this wouldn't have happened if Murray wasn't alienated by everyone. I mean everyone's focused on the fact that he was stopped but no one wants to discuss why the hell he did this? What reason's he had. He was a normal person like us but he was alienated by this church for a rock performance @ youth with a mission and i'm sure many other people like friends and family. Don't people care why he did this or are we too focused on his death?

This is what happens when people fail people.

  • She is my HERO!

  • So does this church believe God created Ted Haggard as a homosexual? Seriously if you need armed guards in a church, you have a problem.

Get back to me when you can show me the WMD in Iraq, or prove that Bush is a good president. Jeanne Assam is nothing more then a mindless churchgoer who will do whatever her pastor tells her to do! Love live BUSH and HAGGARD!

  • too bad you don't know self defence when you see it. if that happened in a place where you were at, you'de probably run like a chicken with yellow feathers!!!!!!!!

  • How about this: If this happened at a place of NONE illrepute, ie. a shopping mall, national park, then maybe I'd run, it would be self preservation. Since these places are generally safe and do not carry a bad reputation I'd be surprised. However, if I was heading to an evil place, or a place that never practiced what it preached, ie. urban Detriot, the largest church in CO (which elected its FAGGOT pastor as the head of all Evangelicals in this county), then I would bring a gun.Common sense!

  • what difference does it make where the shootings happened at. killers are killers regardless of where the victims are. there are homosexuals and the like in malls and parks, too. I don't agree with homosexuals or lesbians claiming to be preachers, and I don't attend churches who let them preach or take part, but if I'm in a church, I still have the right to defend my life!

  • I agree everyone has a right of self defense. Again, I point out the location. A church which had a gay pastor (who was ranked #1 in most influencial pastor in 2004 when he helped Dubya get re-elected). These people don't deserve anything positive until a full apology on Iraq. If this was a Catholic, Methodist or Unitarian church, I'd support the self defense method...not New Life Church!

ps. name a president who is dumber than Bush!

  • bill clinton

  • Clinton: A Rhodes Scholar, lawyer. Yeah, he cheated on his wive getting a bjay from Monica. Ran a balanced budget...didn't invade any major country which will end up costing $1 Trillion dollars.

Bush: an MBA (cause we all know wall street created this credit crunch), drunk, who lied about invading a foreign country at a cost of 4,000 Americans and god knows what cost.

Seriously, at least some INTELIGENCE if you are going to make a point...

How are Vitter, Larry Craig and Mark Foley doing...

  • boy, aren't you someone to be criticizing gays with Mr Clinton as your president and his "don't ask don't tell" policy for the military. How about the economic situation he inherited, you could buy a house in 15 years when he took office, that was one of the best economic outlooks in history, why didn't he leave it that way? there was recession before he left office. the republicans wanted to do away with capitol gains since Clinton was for NAFTA, he said no, how many jobs went overseas?

  • While NAFTA did hurt, most of the job losses are to BRIC, especially China. Even Mexico is losing jobs overseas. Do I personally agree with NAFTA, no, but what can you do. As for gays - I just don't like hypocrites. If you built your empire demonizing gays...you & your sheeple better not be gay. Simple as that! Not sure where you are, but in TX the housing prices were fairly reasonable in 2000. Yes, an increase from 1993, but still not bad. China has taken more US jobs then NAFTA!

  • You do realize that he didn't finish his Rhodes Scholarship program because of being accused of sexual assault, don't you? One in a long history.

    tinyurl (dot) com (slash) clintonrape

Recall also that Clinton depleted our ENTIRE non-nuclear air-launched cruise missile inventory and left his successor to pay for replenishing what he had used. Add to that the SPI, and you get to see Clinton's not so rosy.

  • Oh yeah, heard Teddy dropped out of Therapy. What happened? I guess he realized he couldn't be cured. Wow, the head of the evangelicals was Gay! Gotcha ban that gay marriage now!

  • don't forget about Mr Clinton and ruby ridge, Waco and the bombing of the towers, the first terroist action on american soil. Then allowing the terrorist brigade to come into the country and study to finish the towers off.

  • Ruby Ridge-1 death. Waco-death of people in a cult. Both sad-but nothing compared to Iraq, which actually hurts our national security. If I am not mistaken, Bush was warned in August 2001 that 'Bin Laden to strike America', however, he was busy in TX trying to get Jenna off of a DUI. Why not act on that intelligence?!? Also, bush has not problem violating the constitution...from executive privledge, warrentless spying...the 4th & 1st admendment means nothing anymore. Now go & read your bible

  • ruby ridge was a whole lot more than the death of one person, so was the outcome of waco, they were neither right! It was the invasion of a misinformed government to take action against the people. David Koresh went to the post office everyday. The one person killed at ruby ridge was an unarmed mother holding a baby. was clinton and the government right about it, or MISINFORMED. the children of ruby ridge all got a million each, and waco was a joke. 9/11 plot was alive and well when bush got in

  • The 9/11 plot had to be in play for years, but Bush dropped the ball. When you get a memo the month before the attacks, saying this ass is going to attack America, why don't you do something. Helping your daughter is more important! Did the FBI drop the ball,in RR definately, in Waco the followers of Koresh started the fire that killed them.Hell, taking David before could have caused more violence, since they were clearly instable. I'm not a big fan of cults & its followers, like this church.

  • I think over our last 3 days of conversation we have lost track of the key topic. You obviously seem to have a thing for the 2nd admendment and personal liberaties. I am focuses on Fundie Chrisitans and how they operate is 'fishy'. Again if the head of a large Xtian church is gay...why support him? For the record, I actually support gay marriage!!!! :)

  • I don't support gays, I don't support violence either when it comes to someone shooting up the place. But, if you are a chriistian you don't have to lay down and die at the hands of some madman. you, sir, just have a problem with people shooting back. I guess that's why so many criminals are buying armour, they're afraid they are going to get what's coming to em.

  • If you are a Christian, why attend a church lead by a faggot? As I pointed out, if this was a real church, a shopping mall, park, they are justified to defend themselves. This church however, was run & headed by a faggot. That makes them much less in my eyes. I know you might feel differently, but if you run a large mega-church, become the head of all evangelicals in this country, perhaps you shouldn't be sticking your d*&k in some guys as*. Feel free to disagree!

  • don't overstate your case. This woman Jeanne Assam is not a lesbian, and the man that was doing the shooting was probably not gay. Don't pick out certain people because of sexual tendencies and think the rest have to suffer. It was a standoff fair and square. If you want this guy who was a gay pastor, wait him out he'll show up sooner or later. do what you want to do to him, but I'm still carrying.

  • All the power to you buddy. Jeanne was a follower of a cult-like David Koresk and those FLDS people in Texas. Let's face it, this church feel in love with a Charismatic pastor and decided he was the 2nd coming of Jesus. Jeanne was trained to kill anyone who thought otherwise. Cults suck - and New Life church got what it had coming from it. I'm thinking the shooter was probably a spurned loved of Teddy boy! What do you think?

  • 1: 15 I give the credit to god.

Would the people who were murdered have a similar opinion?

    What a load of wally

  • Yep, when things go good, its because of Jesus, god or Bush.

When things go bad, it is because of abortion, gays, feminist, liberals, democrats, Arabs, Muslims, Blacks, Mexicans, the Homeless, Drunks, Criminals, Clinton, Hilary Clinton, Democrats, Gays, Abortions, Gay Marriage...You have to remember the GOP message man!

  • By the way rationality was given us by our creator be it God or nature. Mull this over ye faithful rationalists: John Nelson Darby/Cyrus Scofield reference bible dispensationalism comes from the same roots as Aleister Crowley's equally evil belief system of lies. Crowley, Scofield, & Darby (as in Darbyites) were all Plymouth Brethren. So, Charismatic gimme-your-money Left-Behinder groups flouresce in the same electro-magnetic field as Thelemites and Satanists. Hmmm

  • there's not a word of truth to it! Aleister Crowley was a vehement apostate from the Plymouth Brethren that declared that he had ripped, raved and raped the world. After he denied God, he totally left the Plymouth Brethren and forsook their fellowship.

  • Ukidding,

Seems you need faith if you forget the Judeo-Christian belief in the biblical story of Exodus where Moses receives stone tablets. If you believe that story, then you also need to accept the part where Moses commands his people to slaughter one another as punishment for worshiping the golden calf. Any God needs no credit, not Visa, MC, AMEX or Discovery.

  • Time: 1: 15

"I give the credit to god"

I wonder if the people killed would agree.

  • Assam WILL find some fundamentalist in Denver or SaudiArabia ISO a blooded hunter.People who refuse responsibility for their actions "credit" their parents,God,aliens, meds or Satan. Stand up killer-comic cop Ms. Assam is of age at 25 to take full responsibility for herself. Assam in effect makes shooter Matthew Murray equally responsible as those he "credited":Ted Haggard former boy preacher Christianity idol, Aleister Crowley,Marilyn Manson, closet gays in YWAM,anti-depressants or his parents.

  • "Thou Shalt Not Kill" was written in STONE, even for Jeanne Assam.

Don't Martyrs enter heaven in Christianity, Islam or any other faith? Killing in the name of God? No God would need her "credit" for killing either Matthew Murray or Teri Schiavo to save even one other life. Assam pathologically beliefs her lethal act will get her a man? - Pride in the extreme. In the Christian belief system, she still must seek forgiveness from God.

  • maybe you've never heard of self defence. There are logical reasons to kill, and self defense is one of them. Her actions are justified to prevent more bloodshed that could have possibly happened had she not intervened. There are no martyrs here, just a hero.

  • Say there, WAD... WHY were the police not called ahead of time?Having been informed of the YWAM shooting (an organization with offices on New Life Church's "campus")? Assam was volunteer security at a 10k+ member church. All those people w/NO pro municipal police? LUCKY more were not killed.Think Colorado Springs PD would post a few squad cars about if asked? No deity can save the most faith filled deer in the headlights.

  • for the same reason they didn't call the police in numerous other shootings, who knew where the shooting would take place if any. Trust your better judgment, and be prepared, and the police will get there when they can, if they can.

  • do you eat beef, pork, chicken or fish?

they have all been killed to keep you alive.

it's the law of the jungle.

  • Since meat is so pricey, perhaps hunting the two legged Dodo, or the talking Gooney bird will help ends meet. They look smell and talk like the guy who said he would be transubstantiated in the bread & wine, though somewhat less deserving of a blessing. Some carry firearms. You fancy onions carrots or just a salt and spice rub? I'm told the dumbest ones taste best.

  • what stone was it written in?

    have you seen the stone?

rationality is the enemy of faith.

  • Warning to the devil: Never mess with a Christian woman. Four years ago a left a church where the Pastor was a pacifist. Well this lady has more command presence then many male Pastors. What I appreciate about her, is there's no phony smile or phony baloney.

  • personal experience doesn't prove the experience of a god.

nobody actually saw a god....she is giving her interpretation of the events that happened.

Full credit to her for stopping the lunatic but bringing the supernatural into the picture

is a reflection of her bible studies.

Ever wonder why a god doesn't reveal itself?

    It's because supernaturals don't exist.

  • there are some things that are invisible that exist, and we know they exist even though they are not seen by the naked eye. One thing we could call into question though, is your brain. I'm sure nobody has ever seen it, maybe that is something that doesn't exist!!!!!!!!!

  • WAD-I feel the dull heat of the crucible where the great speck of your robotic indoctrinated critical thinking free mind is forged. Personal attack by a resident of a community half-way house for addled Kool-Aid drinking Ted Haggard Meth party invitees makes me realize the unfairness of this exchange. Be it hard to explain to you, chromosomes genes & mitochondria seen not by naked eyes do still prove your throwback status on the scale of evolution & thought. WED Assam, but PLEASE don't have kids!

  • If you are refering to me as a resident of this church or a charismatic, I am not. I am not indoctrinated and I prefer diet pepsi. And, when you see me, you see a beautiful human being created in the image of God.

  • this is the great usa where people go to church with a loaded gun...

praise the lord and pass the ammo

  • How would you have it? As in China? Or Africa? Or South America or some other place in the world where the bad guys have the upper hand? Click on Voice of the martyrs see the attrocities that await you.

Move there. If you try to restrict the law abiding from self defense only the bad guys have the guns.

  • Trust God but pack the 9mm

  • Atta baby ... Praise God and pass the ammunition!

The LORD provided for self defense, read ...

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

  • And again ...

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

    37) Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

  • i see her as a nice sincere and educated woman who has been brain washed about a supernatural .

    .....

my hope is that one day the values and ideas more closely associated with the dark ages will be treated as a curiosity.

  • ukidding;

Jeanne Assam espouses the beliefs that brought us out of the dark ages. The protestant movement! Ever heard of Martin Luther? Ultimately resulting in the greatest nation on earth! Christianity guarantees the freedoms we enjoy; (ie.speech, religion, assembly)for not just Christians but for everyone!

Oh by-the-way education is a result of Christianity, school was to teach the common man to read the Holy Scriptures!

  • Romans 13:4 For he/(SHE) is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he/(SHE) beareth not the sword/(HANDGUN) in vain: for he/(SHE) is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.

  • can she prove that god was with her?

is there a photograph with god in it?

did the tv monitors capture a god image?

why does god want to hide?

personal experience is not an objective proof...

  • ukidding;

Jeanne has evidence, maybe not proof but she doesn't need proof, remember your Bible ...

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him(God): for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    PLEASE KEEP SEEKING!!!

Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

  • Credit is due to an obviously terrified woman for standing up to maniac with a gun, HOWEVER... neither God nor any other imaginary critter was involved. You Christians need to quit breeding so the rest of us can evolve!

  • HAHAHAHA I didn't know monkeys could type!!!

How do you know God was not involved?

  • Because he doesn't exist! And our ancestors were apes, not monkeys.

  • Will you be getting together for the holidays? HAHAHA

  • That last comment didn't make sense, but I'm assuming u mistook the word ancestor for the word relative.

  • relworp69;

If God does not exist then your life and existance in the universe are of meaningless insignificance. You are part of the earth's problems and must be eliminated. But God does exist and because He does we have order, design, purpose and significance and the fight of good against evil will continue until Christ returns. Are you ready? This is not all that there is!

  • Wow! Can't argue with logic like that.

  • our ancestors were hominids not apes

  • Yea ok a floating man in the sky, saved her but allowed the other to be killed. Sick, just sick.

  • so the shooter should have continued killing people? is that what you're saying? You are sick!

  • That's not what he said dumbass!

  • God chose her to pop a cap in his ass.

  • bottom line

  • must of been another white guy.

  • I love her!! God loves people with guns!!!!

  • This is why I LOVE the 2nd amendment!

If any of you want to KEEP the 2nd amendment, vote for Ron Paul! The enemy is within, they are armed. Criminals don't follow the rules, they will always have the guns. Be a good citizen, get a gun.

  • We live in a nasty world and we need more ladies like her.

  • God helped her out, but neglected to save the people who died? What, did He show up late?

  • Two dead instead of hundreds and that wasn't good enough for you? It proves that conceal and carry saves lives. Oh I know you lefties just HATE it when guns save lives. You would have preferred to see hundreds dead, admit it.

  • No, I would rather NO ONE died. I'm not really for gun control, except in the case of those under 21. God could've saved two more people, but I guess He didn't.

  • It's really not cool to use this tragedy for your little joke. So I see your demented logic. In order to prove to you there is a God no one must ever die. The very second one person dies in all of existence, proves God doesn't exist to you. This type of logic is why atheism gets nowhere.

  • So Kurd55 is it your contention that Murray shot himself for no apparent reason, that Jeanne shooting him did not bring this about? It matter little whose bullet actually killed him, Jeanne's actions brought an end to his actions. Law Enforcement Officers are trained that you "shoot to stop, not to kill". The first often brings about the second, but that is not the intent. I am sure Jeanne was similarly trained and her training certainly paid off, she remains a true hero.

  • okay, gun nuts. the report shows he killed himself. her gun didn't stop him at all. so, gun freaks, your politicizing of this tragedy is not only sick, it's just factually wrong.

on another note, i find it sick and insane that the "peaceful" "god" is associated with so much death. one can only laugh in the face of such insanity. ha-ha-ha!

    have a nice day, gun-freaks-that-believe-in-a-sky-god.

  • Your ignorance is typical of your ilk. The FACT is that Jeanne Assam did shoot and stop the shooter. A gunshot outside of the central nervous system does not immediately incompacitate the victim. The shooter just still had enough life left in him to finish himself off.

Sorry, but armed citizen, Jeanne Assam, did stop the shooter. What I don't understand, is why do you refuse to give the armed citizen credit? Is it because your house of cards is beginning to crumble?

  • gccollinsworth - turd55 is just your typical mentally diseased, left wing, Christian hating, child porn trading, hypocrite. He delights in watching Christians die so to him it was a tragedy that the atheist shooter was SMOKED by that fine Christian woman.

  • You can mock her faith all you want - it allowed her to be brave in the face of danger and save innocent lives.

Autopsy revealed he was wounded multiple times despite wearing body armor. He then punked out and killed himself like his Columbine hero's.

Only an idiot would dispute her actions saved lives - I guess you qualify.

  • kurd55 - You logic is very typical of the left. So you think this guy went to a packed church with 1,000 rounds of ammo and a rifle just to get to the front door and shoot himself, ha? Did it ever occur to you that he shot himself because he knew he wouldn't get far with that brave, armed woman standing between his sick atheist, Christian hating ass and the people in the church?

  • On left wing radio in Minneapolis this morning all they did was bash this woman for getting thrown off the Minneapolis PD and being a Christian. Meanwhile left wing talk show host Bernie Ward is indicted for trading child porn and they defend him.

  • More guns less crime. Had this been one of those lefty churches that has the "Guns Banned" sign in front you would have had over 100 deaths. That's what Democrats want anyway. They need an excuse to repeal The Second Amendment!

  • Let's see...Jesus tells a rich man who wants to follow him to give away all his wealth to the poor. Gosh...you don't think Jesus was one of those leftys do ya?

  • The left believes in most of the teachings of Jesus, they just choose to hate him for whatever reason. To be totally honest, if Jesus came back today it would be both the left and the right wing that would want to crucify him again. He's against war and he's anti Capitalist as well as anti abortion and anti drug. The best of everything!

  • drsnk - seriously my friend, how do you know what's in my heart or anyone who is liberal? I'm on the political left and don't "hate" Jesus. I don't pretend to know yours. Don't you see this kind of discourse destructive and cruel?

  • You're right. I've been on the receiving end of that type of prejudice so I apologize for my assumption. I try to not use the word "liberal" since I am liberal on many issues. I consider the radical left wing to be the evil side of liberalism just as the fascistic, neo cons are the evil side of the right wing. We are all stuck in the middle of these two groups.

  • Jesus doesn't seem so anti-Capitalist...check out Matthew 25:14-30!

  • You read that literally. Jesus is telling his followers not to be lazy, that is the lesson. Capitalism is about making as much money as possible without regard for anyone or anything else. Jesus would be completely against that.

  • U.S. Leads Richest Nations In Gun Deaths

    BY CHELSEA J. CARTER

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ATLANTA -- The United States has by far the highest rate of gun deaths -- murders, suicides and accidents -- among the world's 36 richest nations, a government study found. The U.S. rate for gun deaths in 1994 was 14.24 per 100,000 people. Japan had the lowest rate, at .05 per 100,000.

  • -Because Japan invented Anime!!Their kids are home or school on Internet&off the streets. They are venting their their hormonal frustrations&violent tendancies out thru gameplaying which teaches skills as well as allows knowledge to seep in.

  • Jeanne wasn't a Blackwater Trained bodyguard was she? After all, Blackwater's founder Prince has no ties to Focus on the Family's Dobson 3 miles away, now does he? And Jeane is not a weapon of God letting him do the shooting? WTF? Just say God did the shooting. Oh, I hear Hannah Montana will be at NLC! Tickets $500!

  • I'm speechless! This is an amazing story of heroism and divine protection. I wish all the families and friends who lost someone on that terrible day peace and comfort. I wish Jeanne peace as she walks the weeks and months ahead when processing what happened. May the God of all comfort and grace be with them all.

  • what kind of Christian church turns people away?

  • My personal belief--based solely on news reports, the gunman's Internet postings, and speculation--is that this point is one of the factors why he shot. I believe he felt the YWAM were hypocrites who wanted money, and he felt resentment against New Life Church from his mother's dedication to the beliefs of the church.

It is obvious that the conflict between the church's teachings and those he encountered in society were at odds, and he couldn't handle it.

  • Ah! what she said was that the fact she was armed with only a gun and he outarmed her, THAT is what she attributed to God, that the gunman didnt overpower HER. Not that God led her to kill the man. This will SO be spun wrong.

  • If you want the video with YouTube embedding...another one of the same thing is at "Jeanne Assam: Hero".

  • The lady did the right thing.

  • All the left wingers are so pissed off. Not just because she saved 100 Christians but she proved once again how important it is to allow folks to carry guns in this psycho infested society. Had there been a Jeane Assam in Omaha we could've avoided that tragedy also.

  • If everyone had a gun he would of only shot 2 people tops

  • How gifted you are, VerbotenDingleberry: theodicy, the problem you dismiss as "not rocket science," has stymied some of the world's greatest thinkers for centuries. There has never been a convincing solution to reconcile the problem of evil with an omniscient, omnipotent God.

  • Bless you Jeanne. Evil people exist in the world that need to prey on the innocent. You confronted evil without fear because the faith in your heart knows no fear.

I pity all that cannot understand this.

  • Please turn embedding feature back on! Please!

  • Why is "Embedding disabled by request"?

The whole world needs to hear this press conference!

  • I don't believe in your religion, nor religion in and of itself. However, I do believe any intelligent person would defend him/herself and innocents in the vicinity. And I also have no mercy to offer the killing of any unarmed person. Good for you guys.

  • Can I get an AMEN!

    (Nice.)

  • God Bless you Jeanne Assam - Thank you for being so strong . . . and humble

  • Whether or not you accept that there is a God, Jeanne Assam's belief in God made it possible to react as she did and her right to carry a weapon made her able to do so. Whatever your religious or political beliefs are, I don't see how you can argue with the results.

  • those who believe are not automatically brave, jeanne is extremely brave and happens to have faith in god. without faith she would not have even been in that building. she obviously loves god and trust in her faith which is wonderful and as a direct result of her faith, she was in the right place at the right time to save lives. my information says that she walked straight at the guy yelling for him to surrender while he fired at her! she then shot him dead cool as a cucumber.

  • daveyyork0 - a true liberal. How do you spot a true liberal? They HATE the Constitution and the rights set out therein. It is the right of citizens to bear arms and to be able to defend themselves. Apparently daveyyork0 would have been much happiert had Murray driven a truck full of fertilizer and diesel fuel into the church, and set off his home made bomb and killed hundreds. No problem - firearms were not used.

  • Slight disagreement. In my experience a "liberal" (modern definition) does not trust his fellow man to make good decisions. He must be "guided" (at the point of a gun, no less). They view people as incompetant and unabel to run their own lives. I think psychiatrists call it "Projection".

Conservatives trust people. Want them to be free and make their own decisions.

Liberals are simply weak ans assume everyone else is weak too.

    Sad really.

  • "Conservatives trust people. Want them to be free and make their own decisions." You must be thinking about libertarians because this generalization is incompatable with "conservative" republican positions on abortion, right to die, drug use and flag burning? If the last 7yrs have taught us anything it's that most "conservatives" are as eager as liberals to regulate our lives.

  • Do you support the right of landlords to murder tenants? That's abortion. One person is living inside another person, for something less than nine months. You are saying as long as the person is living inside the other (the tenant), killing the tenant is no different than removing a cyst or a tumor.

  • Further, would you support a woman's right (or a man's right) to hire a doctor to remove their liver, both kidneys, heart, etc.? Of course not - that would be doctor assisted suicide. So the notion that anyone can do whatever they want with their own body, doesn't even hold up.

  • My views on abortion and suicide are irrelevant to the point of whether "Conservatives trust people. Want them to be free and make their own decisions." I'm just saying that's not true. Conservatives want to force people to make decisions they agree with. That very narrow point is a demonstrable fact.

  • Easy one. Republicans haven't been Conservative (big "C") in 20 years or more. Reagan was the last one even close.

We now have a choice between Communist(Democrat) and Socialist (Republican).

This is what causes most revolutions. The decay will continue until we do something about it. And that won't happen until there is a crisis of Biblical Proportions.

    Next!

(PS, I'm scary Libertarian but differ with the party on the appropriate response to Islamofascism.)

  • I totally agree. It is so obvious it is painful. JFK today would be considered a raging conservative by the MSM. Our ruling class of Communist/elites are all globalists that want to destroy the US and replace it with NAU.

I also reject the Liberterian line re: Islam.

  • I can't disagree with your characterization of a liberal, but if you think about it, the Constitution invests the power of government in the people - you know, like Lincoln said - of the people, by the people, for the people. By virtue of that, and your definition, I reiterate - liberals HATE the Constitution. They would NEVER admit it, but you know they hate it because they support federal judges who make decisions which disregard for what the document says.

  • Kelo, Roe, McCain-Feingold.

    Yup, true dat.

  • You have a wacked out liberal interpretation of the second amendment to the Constitution. Not strange really, it's what liberals have to do when confronted by the plain english meaning of the text.

  • WTFRU, Chief Justice of The Supreme Court?

  • A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

the right of the "people" to keep and bear Arms", NOT the right of the "militia" to keep and bear arms

  • You will note in the 1st amendment, the SAME people are referred to, where it says "the right of the people peaceably to assemble"

It was NOT referring to the militia having the right to assemble. The "people" is clearly a reference to the citizens of the country - not a subset who are members of a militia

  • But of course if you hate the right of the "people" to bear arms, as liberals in fact do, you have to twist the plain words of our founding documents, to craft a different version of the United States, which suits your communist ideaology.

  • And finally, you might ask yourself what the people who bear arms, might be inclined to do if you attempt their overturn their right to do so. When I took the oath of allegiance to the Constitution, I swore to support and defend it. You can rest assured that I and many other Americans will do so - which is precisely why the Constitution has a second amendment. So you be careful what rights you trample on liberal, or you might unleash the patriot in some of your fellow citizens.

  • "Well-informed scientists being necessary to the innovation of a country's economy, the right of the people to own and read books shall not be infringed." wouldn't mean you had to be a scientist before having the right to read.

Read the Bill of Rights, AND read the comments of those who wrote it! Especially read the proceedings of the debates on the Constitution.

    For example:

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials." - George Mason

  • That analogy would mean that the government couldn't prevent the publication of scientific literature, but it could do so for pornography, defamation and hate literature - even by scientists.

Effective regulation of militias is the only purpose underlying protected gun ownership. That doesn't extend to gun fans, fetishists and hobbyists.

Taking guns away from those types makes no difference to the effectiveness of the militia other than to make its task a little easier.

  • Oh please.

God did something. She was very clear about that point. God, in her view, created her, prepared her for this day and put her in the right place at the right time. God gave her what she needed to His will.

What's so confusing? I'm a Buddhist and even I get this.

  • Yes. If you ever evolve to the point of being able to understand the mind of the Creator of the Universe, let me know. I know a couple good psychiatrists.

(Did it ever occure to you that some lessons must be taught harshly, like fire burning your hand? There are many lessons in this story if you're bright enough to grasp them.)

  • Yes, there are lessons here -- the same kind we've seen in countless other rampage stories: Disturbed individual kills people. Believers then employ convoluted logic to justify how an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving god could permit the act -- yet they never seem to consider the simplest, most likely answer.

  • Universal faith in a higher power and a consensus on morality, ethics, behavior, manners, respect for life is the REAL message of ALL religions. People corrupt religions.

Jean Assam's faith is what buoyed her in a very tough situation. What is your point?

  • good sir, I believe you to be a fellow atheist. When you study these people adequately, you will realize that the truly knowledgeable ones don't believe God can do ALL things. According to them, he cannot sin, die, nor force any to acknowledge his existence, among other things. Therefore, they say he allows wrongs to be committed as tests. I think it's quite gross, but at least they have an explanation. Think about it.

  • Another, way more logical explination, is that in the saame way a 2 year old can't begin to fathom the actions of his parents we can't begin to fathom the actions of the Creator.

    It's really not rocket science.

  • Austrailian murder/armed robbery rates are statistically UNCHANGED in the last decade despite the Nazi tactics of disarming the law abiding citizens. You are truly ignorant of events in your own country.

I actually like Australia and it's none of my business what you do there but confiscating guns DOES NOT make you safer. Keeping them out of the hands of crazy/evil people does.

Is everyone in Australia Crazy or Evil?

  • Tell me daveyork0 - were you happy that none of the students at Virginia Tech were allowed to carry weapons on campus? I'm sure that you weren't happy that the psycho who systematically went around killing students was carrying a weapon - but I take it you would have been even more unhappy if a student would have shot him in self defense.

  • Remarkable woman. She's being too modest. An ex-Vietnam combat vet saw it and said that it was the bravest thing he'd ever seen. She came straight at him as he was firing at her, shouting "Surrender!" and calmly took him down. What a difference between this incident and the one in West Virginia.

  • THANK YOU Jeanne

You are a hero in so many ways.
