I want to write about something I know about because it's happened to me or people I know, but there's not really anything interesting I can think of plus I don't want to write anything autobiographical. I guess my novel will suck whatever it's about (if I manage to finish it), but I guess giving it a try won't do any harm.

I had been planning to write another story for days and then on the day before NaNoWriMo began I started thinking it was a bad idea. So I came up with another one about ten minutes before I started writing. Basically it's about a depressed guy who meets a girl he really likes at a party and when he gets back from buying her a drink she is suddenly gone. And about what happens then. But I'm not quite sure yet. R u participating?

But I was hoping to have a bit more by now so I could take off a day or two at the end. And it's looking bad for this weekend. A friend is coming round and I'm sure she'll want to go out in the evening. And I can't tell her I'd rather be writing ;) Not that I would, but you need to set priorities, right? So what are you writing about?

It's kinda fun coz I like writing my characters in random scenes, hopefully oneday I'll write my real novel from my nano novel...first time I've ever attempted to write a novel. Well apart from one I wrote when I was eight. sad though, I lost it :( I'm not even in the 10k mark so I won't get 50k...

@Southfield1000 Well at least you're trying. It's my first year as well and I agree that it can be hard to find time to write your novel. What works for me is setting myself goals for a certain period of time, for example I want to write 300 words in 20 minutes or something.

My novel is really crappy as well. Sometimes I don't know what to write about at all so I just write anything that makes the slightest bit of sense. Writing dares are fun. I made my characters watch 10 hours of Nyan Cat :)

I bet my novel is like the most boring book ever. I let my sister read the first chapter, but I don't think she liked it a lot...

@Southfield1000 That really sucks. Not finishing nano must feel bad enough, but if it's because of something like that it's just frustrating. At least you can blame it on your computer, right?

Yeah, I actually finished my novel. That sounds really weird considering I'm just an average normal person and not a proper writer or anything. But yeah, I reached 50k on the 29th after getting really motivated near the end. I even had fun. I'm glad it's over now, though.

the reason the mug isnt pointless - i think the cup says the left hander's mug on the side that people would see if a right hander was using it so people know you are using someone else's mug.
