REST IN ETERNAL PEACE BODE! YOUR ART PUSHED A REVOLUTION OF SOLIDERS IN THE STREETS! the biggest art movement in fuckin histroy; GRAFFITI. thank you for staying true and underground bode RIP. YOUR NAME AND ART LIVES!
This man was a genius. He was WAY before his time. As an ex-graffiti writer from NYC, I grew up seeing him idolized by the top graffiti artist. It wasn't uncommon to see Cheech Wizard and the Bode females characters illustrated on the trains. To this day, I still look at his magazines for guidance. Peace to Mr. Bode (RIP), Stan 153, Noc 167, Dondi (RIP), Snooze TC5, and the others...
Thanx, this guy is tuff. jack kirby created tons of good characters had fuck all when it came to rights, vaughn never gave nothin! A tuff artist? true to himself, thanx for posting.
"ROCKS! Rocks don't never plumb da high heights of thinking thought. They never thunked why they don't know nothin'... An ant can think circles aroun a rock any day of da week."
sad that he cheacked out early, but some lights have to burn brighter than others!! just wish when i was writing graffiti i put up bode by my piece when i done a lizard!
Dangit, I don't wanna break up the 22 comment count that being "Bodes number" through my eyes as he was born on the 22nd of July (2:22PM aswell but I could be confusing that with Cheech) but I wanted to mention that I STRONGLY agree with Vaughns idea of "You'll succeed very well as long as your work is your own stuff" as I myself make that one of the main rules when I draw and he's also correct about how many copiers there are, just look at how many people limit themselves by Animes rules!
This is fascinating video. You'd think from Bode's work he'd sound much more out there, but he actually sounds\sounded level headed and quite intelligent.
Too bad he never did any work for Warren, beyond a few collaborative covers with Jones and Todd, as he'd've probably been given
Utica in the 70s: Ed Hanna, Tape Utopia and Vaughn Bode, who led us to the National Lampoon, and the Radio Hour on 'OUR: Chase, Belushi, O'Donaghue, Subitsky, Doyle-Murray. VB hung himself, more or less, we heard. And Cheech became the progenitor of acceptable vandalism. Who knew such foolishness would ever be remembered? God bless Annette Funicello, Dave Cash, Val Bailas and the days of our misspent youth.
thnx saw that Cobalt 60 page for $1800. An orig Cheech wiz page must be ridiculous but I think its definitely worth it to be able to say "I have an orig BODE on my wall" AHHH!
Vaughn was a seriously talented fella. Some of my favorite 60's Artists have had such serious accidents... Vaughn and Rick Griffin were two of the best.

His death was due to autoerotic asphyxiation at age 33. That's pretty weird

Bodé, apart from his private life, is an iconic artist. Such a shame he didn't get to produce more material, what a tragedy.

Sometimes you see them on Ebay. Just have to be careful that it is not a forgery.
If you have any questions send me an email.
