people there is no need to argue over muse and the smiths they are both great bands, muse do a lot of covers and they bring there own sound to it which i think is great as it shows even though they are doing a cover there still bringing there own originality into it for better or for worse.
I think the Muse cover sounds like shit, and I actually like Muse... The problem is they sound younger and more "hip" than the Smiths, so it adds a level of cheese to the song. It sounds like just another teenage angst song. Morrissey sounds more mature so the lyrics don't sound as cliched when he sings them. 100% Agree
I agree with that. I don't like the Muse version either. It's easy to sing this song sounding whiny and self-pitying. It's rather hard to make it sound mature and sincere at the same time. That's why this song as recorded by the Smiths is a classic.

The Smiths é show de bola! Essa musica então... muito boa mesmo! Pena que eles nunca vieram ao Brasil, em especial na maior cidade da América do sul, São Paulo-SP. Acredito também que eles tem milhares de fãs em todo o país. O Morrisei só canta musicão, hein?! E a música deles que eu mais gosto é 'Ask'. Me faz voltar ao final da década de 80, quando escutei essa música pela primeira vez e comecei a gostar do grupo. Seria muito bom se um dia eles voltassem a tocar juntos...

people there is no need to argue over muse and the smiths they are both great bands, muse do a lot of covers and they bring there own sound to it which i think is great as it shows even though they are doing a cover there still bringing there own originality into it for better or for worse.

I think the Muse cover sounds like shit, and I actually like Muse... The problem is they sound younger and more "hip" than the Smiths, so it adds a level of cheese to the song. It sounds like just another teenage angst song. Morrissey sounds more mature so the lyrics don't sound as cliched when he sings them. 100% Agree

I agree with that. I don't like the Muse version either. It's easy to sing this song sounding whiny and self-pitying. It's rather hard to make it sound mature and sincere at the same time. That's why this song as recorded by the Smiths is a classic.
