The brit placed 7nth in the Olympics , worlds eliminated first round! Keep lifting weights and ignore technique one day you will lift a ton and manage to place in the top 3! LOL. god save the queeeeeen
In that case i apologize. Technique is the most important factor no doubt, but to say that british judo rely primarily on lifting heavy weights isn't true. Strength & Conditioning however is an essential element in creating a well rounded athlete in modern day high-level competition.
@judoka1 Technique it's the primary focus but when both guys are technical strength and Conditioning comes in hand, Judoka like Kimura etc, all did crazy strength and conditioning drills. It didn't look like this because technology and the knowledge of the body was not as advance. However, that's not to say it was bad, it's just nowadays strength and conditioning is different. Many Judoka train and lift weights regardless of nationality. Technique > Strength, Technique and Strength > Technique
@judoka1 AHAHAHA Europeans realized everything there is to realize about judo you dumb, silly you! Technique, without a question, is the most important aspect of the sport. However Strength, agility, stamina and mental preparedness can be deemed as useless aspects of the sport only by a dumb fuck like judoka1. UK don't yet have a level of judo experience ( perhaps richness is a better word) to perform well in world tournaments. I certainly hope that this will change.
@electronikita Everything to realize! LOL!! How many europians through history can claim superior technique to the Japanese or Koreans?
You said what I said! strength and stamina through technique. But you had to type something to exercise your hereditary ignorance didn't you? It could be your comprehension you know. I know, I know it's the education system's fault not your upbringing's.
@judoka1 Europeans who were like - "Oh snap, I think i'm better judoka than any1 else in the world" include : David Douillet, Wim Ruska , Ingrid Berghmans , Ulla Werbrouck , Nikolai Solodukhin, Udo Quellmalz, and a lot more. Me raging was only a counter-reaction to your ignorance, a counter attack if you will. Now judoka1 rage, rage out of your mind, for I shall find it entertaining!!!
BTW technique training and conditioning are two different things. I don't like you judoka1.
@dannielpreto it certainly does not help with eye hand cordination for judo,it helps only for the drill itself. What these circuits are for is power endurance, the dominant factor apart from technique in judo and wrestling.
fomiz! You certainly have the right understanding of Judo, I'm not your coach or anything ...But I tell you stick with this concept and you will prevail in Judo.
Oh yeah, I don't disagree with you by any means, that's simply what the purpose behind those exercises is. However that's more the fitness end of things, they do separate workouts for strength and fitness training aside from actual fighting and technique.
craig fallon is following the same program and he's the fastest judoka in the world!

@judoka1 Inoue can bench 170kg and squat 220kg. Judo today can't rely entirely on technique.

....and you don't think they spend hours and hours on technical work as well? Don't be an idiot.
judojoefrommexico 2 years ago
Idiot? When you say that are you talking about your mother for giving birth to you ?
The hours and hours you talk about the British team spending on technique clearly didn't work for them in Beijing 2008.
Maybe they were too tired to develop good technique after hitting the focus mitts and carrying barrels before-hand.
