I agree with Twitchmonkey. It wouldn't be the same if Devi and Nny were actually together. sure it would be sweet, but the comic isn't supposed to be a romance story, and Nny just wouldnt be *Nny* if he was capable of a having a normal relationship with someone.

This sort of misses the point. Devi was introduced to point out that Johnny is incapable of holding a normal relationship with another human being. Tragedy is essential to the comic because otherwise it would be the same linear off to the side love story in every other book, film, and any other story telling media.
