Hitler is intelligent man but he lacked of responsibility on the result at last. Also Thailand has this kind of this man such as Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-PM, who escaped from jail. the Criminal Court of Thailand had sentenced from big corruption while he was being PM.
When is the last time you looked at food packaging to see if the company claims that it is safe?
In our system, the pressure is weighted towards the stockholders - higher profits, lower costs - A company weighs what they would loose through lawsuits/payoffs to those injured against how much a recall would cost. The health and well being of the consumer is NOT in the equation. The PR budgets are far greater than what a company pays out for those injured. It will keep getting wor$e.
@huntertristan, I should imagine people give them a hard time because of all the other people that the reich affected and pulled into war and suffering, just a guess though
No. I consider most of the Republican's view on personal decisions to be closer to totalitarianism. This is why I stated some examples to which the Republicans believe that the state should exercise control over, instead of the individual.
Oh I was responding to ingall20's question. I completely agree with your response. In the category of humor as George Carlin once said "Americans are meant to feel free by the exercise of meaningless choices" which I find to be very true.
Totalitarian = of or relating to a political regime based on subordination of the individual to the state and strict control of all aspects of the life and productive capacity of the nation especially by coercive measures.
Considering the U.S government as totalitarian would be an exaggeration to the facts but to small part it would be true considering the Republican agenda against Stem Cell research, against abortion, against the personal use of "soft" drugs, etc..
The neo cons and their corporate pimps know that all that they have to do is utilize the gauranteed applause line "Government can't do anything right" or label a progressive initiative that might bite into their financial statement "socialist". The gray heads in the crowd nod in agreement, happily cashing their Social Security check and defending their medicare. The neo cons DID learn from Hitler that the more you repeat a lie the more it becomes the truth.
I agree that Bush was no Hitler, but the "true believers" in the Cheney figure-headed Neo-Conz have a special love for authoritarianism. John Dean (of Watergate fame) in his book "Conservatives Without Conscience" explores how the personalities who are drawn to authoritarianism (either as leaders or as followers) have in the majority, aligned themselves with the right wing Republican movement.
Let's call them "Wanna-be Fascists" who are working to bypass that pesky Constitution and "elections"
I think that a Dictator is a key aspect of fascism - and although Dick Cheney did all he could to create an imperial presidency, democratic roots take a lot of digging to upend. Looking at the Iraq fiasco, the key failure was that of the press and the congress to expose the lies. 9-11 created a shell shocked public that did not want the hard questions asked. The propaganda painted anyone who questioned the actions of government as disloyal to America.
There are plenty of socialist countries in this world...if you prefer that sort of thing, I encourage you to relocate...but leave OUR country alone. The continuous crap about Pres. Bush/Vice Pres. Cheney is getting quite old. Conservative politics is all that has held this country together; liberalism does not work...it takes years to repair the damage done by a liberal when the conservatives regain the power (as will happen here). Thanks for posting this World at War episode...watch it
How laughable is it that Clinton (though I am not a big fan) was blamed for everything that the radical right could imagine - almost as far back as the Chicago fire - but when E V E R Y O N E sees how bad the Bush Cheney years were for America and the world - and how many outright criminal deeds they inflicted on US - the right wingers cry foul. So typical of those who stomp their feet and cry whenever they (YOU) do not get your way.
Ignore it and deny it all you want, but YOU FAILED.
Do you actually know what liberalism is? I mean as a political doctrine. Like Socialist, it's a term that the American media bandies around as an equivalent to "Communist" which is ironic as the Bill of Rights was written by a liberal. Liberalism, in terms of politics, is much more centre right than you seem to think- study the policies of W E Gladstone in Britain if you want an example. Conservatism is by definition stagnant, and takes as it's basis pure self interest.
Even the term "Progressives" came from the Republican party, with the realization that the rich and powerful were basically robbing the country and did not give a crap what happened to any other people. At the time, even "conservatives" opened their eyes to the sham-charade that those in power used to convince "average" people that everyone should have the freedom to make as much money as they could - and not have any social responsibility to their neighbor
For example, if the "conservatives" had their way in the early 20th century, there would be no laws or regulations (FDA) to keep some standard to food production. The result would be that companies could cut corners all they wanted and people would continue getting sick from tainted food, because the government would have no role.
Read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" (as TR did) and see what the logical product of free enterprise without regulation is like.
With the current adminstration do you still believe that the US is not slouching toward socialism and leftist totalitarianism like the former GDR, USSR, etc?
There are huge differences to what Americans consider leftist as to how its perceived in most of the world. When you write socialism you in reality mean to write Marxism because this is what you think Socialism is. The Democratic party in a world view can be consider center meanwhile the Republican party can be considered far-right to some concern. With all honesty, the current U.S administration is neither totalitarian or Socialist.
I agree 100%. - the "republicans" are not "Eisenhower Republicans" they are fanatics who can't compromise and are clueless their foreign policy. The whole focus is "Empire" with no excuses or apologies for Christo-Fascism and Jingoism that has created hatred towards the US around the world.
As for "Socialism" most fears are about health care. Name one country that has done away with single payer health care - Zero. There are parts of socialism that work. You can still have your own insurance.
I hope you find a solution. Cause the German economical recovery was rearmement. The problem is that the US is more armed than the next 10 countries combined.
One could say that a significant portion of your Debt is cause by over-armement.
In America, one of the problems is what Eisenhower called the "military-industrial-congressional complex"
The money in politics has skewed the needs of the country by putting short term profits ahead of the people. Using nationalism and flag waving and combining it with God, the right wing has been pushing us towards "Corporate Empire" and most politicians have signed on to keep power.
The problem (IMHO) began with the 14th amendment that gave "personhood" to corporations.
Did you know that Lyndon Johnson and Hubert Humphy got the Civil Rights Act passed in the 60's and that it pushed the racist segment of the Democratic party into the Republican party and that is how Nixon & Regan got elected?
I would argue a much different version of events ... if you think think the electoral victories of Reagan had anything to do with some kind of racist voting bloc moving to the Pubs your crazy ... You seem to forget that the CRA was passed only by 80% of Republicans voting for it ... much more so than any Democratic region.
lonewulf44, I know this comment was made 5 months ago but. There is a reason Reagan started his campaign 4 president in the south & not California. Nixon had already set the ground work 4 him, & even though Nixon failed as president he ultimately triumphed in his goal, mainly that government was the problem not the solution which his own debacle highlighted. The racist elements of the DP, the social conservatives, and old containment theorists united to form the "silent majority", the new RP.
And we "liberals" who have survived the power grab of the past 8 years by the neo-conz, and all the fear/hate mongering, Christo-centric, us vs them and "you're for us or for the terrorists" rhetoric... You don't think that some expression of relief is appropriate for those of us who KNEW we were on the wrong path?
It reminds me of a line from a former slave in "The Civil War" (PBS) who became a Union soldier and ended up guarding his former "owner"-
The Union soldiers were sent by the Republican Lincoln to defeat the mostly Democrat Confederacy. Keep that in mind when Obama throws Iraqis who like to vote as much as you do to the wolves.
Oh, so the OLD SOUTH was chuck full of liberals ehy?
Thankfully, you are in the minority with your opinions, in America and the World.
And when Ronald Regan won the South, by making people feel good about their prejudices?
The Neo-Conz have brainwashed you with the fear mongering and hate mongering divisive rhetoric. Just as the far right was ready for nuclear war with the USSR (Curtis LeMay wanted to start it while we had the numbers on our side, remember that?), they sold Iraq through lies
"The old South was chuck full of Democrats who are were about as liberal as the far left today. Far-Right? Curtis LeMay served mostly Democrat Cold War HAWKS like FDR, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson. Pick up a history book and learn something."
So George Wallace (Le May's running mate for the Presidency) was a liberal? OK, then who in that day was a conservative - Barry Goldwater & Ronald Regan?
Indeed so ... both parties are one and the same today. Both parties are tainted by their ruling obsession and the will of the people is lost no matter who is in power. The politicks are loyal only to the party and getting reelected ... add a public that doesn't care about real issues anymore and you have two corrupt parties that stomp out any chance for real choice in multiple parties.
I wouldn't so much care where the control comes from if there was alternatives and choices ... if people want to vote for a party do so ... but a 2 party system provides absolutely no real choices and thus sacrifices needed compromise and options for the sake of stability ... the only small positive thing about the system.
The founding fathers tried the "no parties" track but found that the lust for power was too much for people to actually act in the best way for all.
Unless you have the "Philosopher King" to rule, multiple parties are the best safety net against tyranny. Like a free press and the balance of power: Executive/Legislative/Judicial (which for the most part has worked)
We need a "Trust Buster" like Teddy Roosevelt to clean up the mess. The power of money in congress needs to be tempered...
The free press has been bought. The judicial gave "personhood" to groups of thieves. The military congressional industrial complex shapes the foreign policy.
We need new laws that make Corporations the servant rather than the master. If entities are "too big to let fail" they are TOO BIG!
Another problem is that our Corporations want to spread the "American Way" to the world. Not to help their cultures, but to sell to them. The "Great Satan" is not our people, it's the selling of our culture!
The founding fathers did not think to codify 'no parties' into the Constitution...which was a glaring error given the difficulties Adams had in even establishing the Declaration due to the 'whig' block in the Colonial Congress at the time.
As you can see in reality...multiple parties may be subourned just as easily as single ones. And we need no one like a Teddy Roosevelt...we need more Lincolns...those who are willing to die at the post of honour rather than submit to tyranny.
My point about not caring was that if we had some actual choices then people could vote elsewhere and those in control of such parties would be left to themselves as the voters could move on to other options if such a party lost touch with the public. No parties would be fine ... seems a novel though that we would simply elect people to represent us rather than a party doesn't! Sad day when I find myself envying European politics.
I understand. Control of access to begin with is part of the paradigm. Once again we are faced with establishing our own parallel systems modelled on Phillidelphia rather than DC...in direct opposition to the valueless tyranny imposed. Sad is not the word for it.
A negative vote? Do a search on obama at muckety . (org) You'll note he is a partner at a Lazard Bros/Rothschild affiliate and they have ever protected the financial interests of the vatican cartels.
There was a time when commercial tv here in my country used to broadcast such an excellent documentaries like this series, now I don't even watch tv anymore, thanks for uploading it!
The treaty of Versailes was in some way's unfear: some area's Germany needed to give up where 100% German speaking, and they get the fould of the WO1 for wrong. But Germany did horrible thinks, and some points where fear.
I agree... The treaty of Versailes was a big cause and combined with the world depression it set the stage. WW I was a huge screw up on all sides. In any war, follow the money - who profits by it? The "reasons" given are seldom the "cause" of war. Greed and hunger for power find a way to make things happen. The problem is when people are set up to follow leaders who rise with fear and hate. After 9/11 most were sheep in the US and lies are uncontested - and rational thought is suspended.
ye. after world war one germany was seen like a little brat who stirred trouble where there was none needed. this little brat was smacked and his toys taken. no wonder he didnt keep quit. french truely were responsible for most of the clauses in the treaty and were still not satisfied.
ohh..and both the world wars are the reason for america's dominance today. these wars screwed up europe big time.
Which posting was this a reply to? I put these up to show how sick a nation can become under the influence of insanity - and how blind people WANT to be if they are made to feel superior to other people. Without fear dictators like Hitler are powerless - Like the Wizard of Ox behind the curtain.
Yeah - he was too late - the coward Mr. Adolf Schicklgruber offed himself because he was afraid of everyone being mean to him for F'ing up a few hundred million people's lives and being responsible for several million deaths. A glorious legacy he left - but he was too afraid to keep living.
What a joke. The Reich that was supposed to have lasted 1000 years made it to just 12. What stupid Germans! A nation of rich culture having fallen for all that bullshit from the "one-balled" wonder. All pomp..all ceremony and finally...all funerals.
FYI - THE BEST way to see if you want to buy the whole series is to rent them from Netflix/blockbuster. Netflix has the entire series, and with a cheap one month membership - or even free trial, you can see them all! Most good library systems also have the full 26 hour series on VHS or DVD & "Making of" DVD. If not, ask them to get it!
All I have heard is a mad commentator voice of wild hatred, manipulation, and lies. How convinient is the english language for expressing primitive states of the men, born to be jewish slaves. I wonder how many shekels have been paid to the few pitifull seleced renegates-germans, speaking against the Fuhrer after the war.
i find it ironic that so many slavs admire hitler..hitler despised ALL slavs he considered them sub human little better than the jews..he wanted to make them slaves..why admire a man a race so evil and destructive?
I hear that! Then again, watching how the soap sellers in the US have diverted the blame for every problem to the left, while they suck the jobs and people dry - and would sell their children for a profit - but claim unions, "Abortion" and "Family Values" are the root of all problems.
soap sellers?i'm not a big fan of the extreme right, but the left in amny ways is worse its like argueing who was worse stalin or hitler who left a bigger pile of corpses, the center is usually where decency lies..i liked the roosevelts FDR and teddy hillary or mcain

ingall20 - No. "personal economic freedom" is a propaganda phrase that the right wing uses to suck in the Republicans.
In 1945: 94% tax on income over $200,000. It stayed over 90% until 1964 (JFK/LBJ Presidency) when it was lowered to 77%
If Federal taxes are lowered, the state and local taxes get increased to make up the difference.

Well said.
