there is a tendancy for blacks to better at field and whites to be better at swimming ...we all have natural talents that differ amongst individuals as well as race.. its just one of those things ..get over it.
There's a tendency for people who try the hardest to be better at every sport. It's not about race; sometimes children of different colors are encouraged to play different sports, and so we see an athletic disparity in some sports, but there is no reason why someone who tries the hardest and works the hardest cant be better than someone who was born with the "right" skin color.
He had a great split. I thought it was 47.65. It was interesting to see that it was his best split ever. Does anyone know what Michael's split was? I've also heard 2 accounts of Jason's split, one being a 46.60. They all contributed to this win. It was the most exciting event at the olympics for me.

yes he was the slowest, but he went 47.96 (almost half a second better than his best) so actually he did better than he was supposed to and i 47.96 is to say the least, really fast.

I don't know that a god doesn't exist, but just because there isn't any evidence of a supreme creator of the universe, doesn't mean that there is one, and until there is some actual evidence of god existing (like jesus comming down and doing some more miracles) then the only logical conclusion is that there is no god, but I do not rule out the possibility that the existence of a god may be proven in the future.
And possibility does not equal non-existence. One can play it both ways. And NO, disbelieving in god is not the *only* logical conclusion. In your case agnosticism would be the best fit.

There's a tendency for people who try the hardest to be better at every sport. It's not about race; sometimes children of different colors are encouraged to play different sports, and so we see an athletic disparity in some sports, but there is no reason why someone who tries the hardest and works the hardest cant be better than someone who was born with the "right" skin color.

He had a great split. I thought it was 47.65. It was interesting to see that it was his best split ever. Does anyone know what Michael's split was? I've also heard 2 accounts of Jason's split, one being a 46.60. They all contributed to this win. It was the most exciting event at the olympics for me.

Yeah, and the person he was up against swam the fastest relay split in HISTORY (until Jason)!! It's Cullen's first Olympics, he's relatively young and inexperienced compared to some of the other people there, give the guy a break! He's awesome! Some people definitely would have *liked* Cavic to win, Cavic himself included. The fact remains that the timing system clocked Phelps in first, and that even after the Serbian team challenged the placing, FINA reviewed the tape over and over and decided that Phelps did indeed out-touch him.
Dara Torres lost by 1/100th of a second, and no one is complaining about her loss/Steffen's win.
The "many" who say he won are not the swimming officials, so their credibility is null.

Give a black person swimming as their only option and they'll excel. Give a white person track as their only option and they'll excel. They didn't evolve or change their muscle structure to make it work they trained, not evolved. I know that...but that's what been said. People are not aquatic beings and therefore cannot sprout gills or whatever to make themselves better swimmers. Some people just have gifts that makes them physiologically better swimmers and they train to increase those gifts, but to say they evolved to swim is absolutely ridiculous because they don't know that they'll be swimmers inside the womb.

The Olympics disproves evolution because all races and all countries compete in different events and do exceptionally well. Just because you don't see black people swimming doesn't mean they can't; it's just not marketed in black communities. You do the sport you grow up around mostly.

I don't know that a god doesn't exist, but just because there isn't any evidence of a supreme creator of the universe, doesn't mean that there is one, and until there is some actual evidence of god existing (like jesus comming down and doing some more miracles) then the only logical conclusion is that there is no god, but I do not rule out the possibility that the existence of a god may be proven in the future.
Possibility does not equal existence.

but what I'm trying to say is that people who have more ancesters living in the northern hemisphere will have a better build for swimming because their ancesters will have passed down genes that make swimming easier. whereas people with more ancesters from the southern hemisphere will have a better build for running because of terrain and climate in that area.

If blacks only make up 12% of the population (and declining) how many do you expect to see in the Olympics swimming? Moron. cullen jones is a really fast swimmer...but he lost the lead and made it harder for the us to catch up. if you paid attention to his leg, he dives in first and touches the wall at 3 or 4.

I don't think anyone told you that you can't swim. You just never knew that you could because all the grown ups on the telly want to do is shoot hoops or kick a ball around because been that way. I hope now you have someone to look up so go ahead and dive into the pool and show your spirits. Just remember you still can't float no matter your skin color or bone density. Swimming like all sports still require skill and dedication. You can still drown if you don't know how to kick.

Actually I have been, Kerla! Southern India. So dark Indians are going through what we went through 75 years ago. Most of that is a Class System. There are Indians in America that are darker than me that get more respect in America, than I ever will. Why are these mutually exclusive ideas. To comment on the racism or sexism of one society isn't to ignore the racism or sexism, caste system of another. More people died in the tsunami than in 9-11. Are we to call either incident any less tragic. There are problems are all over the world, and they function in very different ways. And it is a whole other complexity to experience racism, classism, sexism etc. when people seek to tell you that it doesn't exist in your country.

Affirmative action, racial quotas, special government loan programs for minorities. Hard working people in the black community find liberals views towards them very upsetting. Oh my goodness... weakest link, or not who really gives a shit! Damn, he was on the team, and one of the best four in the United States... He was on the damn team because he was better than everyone else in the world other than the three people that were on his team... so therefore, if he (the "weakest link") didn't swim, someone else would have swam in his place that wasn't as fast as he was and they would have lost... I never discredited dude for his win, I am an American, an African American at that, so naturally I'm happy to see another African American win Gold! All I'm saying is that HE is not the face of THIS win! If Lezak was giving this interview, I would've been more proud 'cause he's the one who brought it home. IN MY OPINION (which I am entitled to one) it appears that Cullen is giving off the impression that this win is because of HIM!
