Very true. Although they are some, myself included, that seek for an end to the fake or fiat economy. I do not support an economy that guarantees quasi slavery on a section of the world's population to shore up the other. The goal of the event is to remind people that they do have power as consumers. And this power comes from consuming nothing. This hurts the economy yes, but also gives the mega corps something to worry about.

I took our house's kitchen board, used a marker pen and wrote: 'BUY NOTHING' on it. Cycled into town, held it up and walked around around the shopping centers with it. I got a lot of ppl who saw it and smiled, others made cat calls, some came up to speak to me about what my sign meant and I explained it to them. I was interrogated by a shopping center security officer and 2 undercover police officers. I simply explained what I was doing and kept walking. Bring on 28.11.2010!

Fantastic video! But the date is Nov 27th, no? For 2009, Buy Nothing Day (Black Friday) is Nov 27 in the US. Maybe it's on a different date in other countries?
