I'm sure diaz could make it as a boxer if he had too.Why wouldn't he?he is already a pro-fighter with a good gas tank and he is probably one of the best boxers in MMA, meaning he is not starting something entirely new.
Anyway vitali has started pro boxing at the age of 25 and he is today world champ at age 40.Diaz is just 28..oh but i'm not saying he will be world champ but i'm sure he has the potential to become an elite boxer.
@doomsdayKillz point was because of your ability to hurt the general populous, you shouldn't. I have a better suggestion for your willingness to teach a lesson, invite them into the cage, no hard feelings right?
@immortalsyn83 never use what you learn in the cage/ring on the street. These examples took place in the streets in Honolulu. No press coverage available. Keep preaching the peace brother, there are too many people who love to fight outside of the sports.
@honoluluwindow That's incorrect. What works in the cage or ring will be devastating on the street against people who don't know how to defend against it. Maybe you shouldn't pull guard or go to the ground against multiple opponents. If someone tried to fight me on the street I would choke them out and leave them on the sidewalk unconcious and be on with my day. Maybe trow their shoes over a fence
@immortalsyn83 I've seen humility in wrestlers and boxers because in their respective matches and fights. It takes more strength to wrestle and more skill to "box". Mma training can be done by sub par humanity and the result is over confident untested ignorance. Even bj apologized to guys he's fought with here in Hawaii because he did act like a punk out clubbing and he did get koed. Nick who trains here was koed by a local kid who like many in the islands or like Oregonians will throw, I admit
@honoluluwindow I've seen humility in every combative sport, especially in mixed martial arts. I would say wrestling is probably one of the most physically demanding combative sports. You could receive sub par training in any sport, it doesn't mean you are going to succeed. I've never heard of anyone BJ's weight knocking him unconscious, nor could I find any articles on the net relating to such topic. I am not a Diaz fan but I don't see anything about him ever being KO'ed either.
@dromezz1993 1993 is when UFC had no weight limits and I was in the gym when kimo and some others worked out next to us in kalihi. They did not impress me much back then. I have more respect for the sport now since trying an mma workout. That training is vicious. But I still am glad I learnt to box. It was more fun and didn't produce bullies like mma. Hell bj, don frye and nick were koed by not very good local boxers from here lol
@honoluluwindow Combative sports don't produce bullies, most MMA champions are very humble people. To my knowledge BJ has never been KOed in his entire career so perhaps in training maybe? Last time Nick was TKO (not KO) was 10 years ago. Don Frye got lit up but then had a crowed of people holding him back, that wasn't even a fight. Frye could take a beating in his prime, just watch his legendary fight with Takayama.
A Boxer in his prime vs an MMA fighter in their prime? That's like telling a runner to face a hurdle jumper in the Olympics, and expecting it to be fair. It's not even the same sport.
Many MMA fighters swear by Boxing's effectiveness in the cage when paired w/ other styles correctly. Put an MMA fighter who uses Boxing against a contrasting style and that's a much better fight. Other wise the pro Boxer gets chocked out quick, or knocks the guy out quick. Take your pick, because it will be short
Freddie Roach said Nick Diaz is a good puncher but not a good boxer because he is flat footed/moves in straight lines. Maybe Diaz moves this way because kicks and take downs are always a danger? Anyway interesting to hear from a top coach
OK PEOPLE COME ON COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPORTS! NICK DIAZ COULDNT MAKE IT IN BOXING & FLOYD MAYWEATHER COULDNT CUT IN MMA LETS BE HONEST I HAVE SEEN NICK DIAZ RESPECT HIM AS AN MMA FIGHTER BUT AS A BOXER HE IS HONESTLT NOT VERY GOOD
Diaz would most likely not be top level at boxing but im tempered by the examples of Vitali Klitschko and Naseem Hamed.Vitali was said to be glass jawed at kickboxing after having been knocked out by Reid and Van Roosemallen in 1994.Also he was said to be an arm puncher with poor kickboxer balance.Nobody thought he would make it in boxing when he started out.Naseem Hamed did everything wrong according to the pundits with his offbalance punches and unorthodoxy.
@layyah0905 Wait wait wait wait WAIT!... There is no time in HISTORY than Vitali has been hurt by getting hit in the Jar... Reid injured him with a Thigh kick...
The other one is a misquoted urban myth! look it up you crazy crazy man! Vitali has taken punches from the highest level guys in combat sports... and was never so much as black-back stepped!
In 1992 Pele Reid ko'd Vit with a spinning kick-Here a quote from 1993 Martial Arts Illustrated:“Our fourth Gold came from Pele Reid when, after some superb fights, he met Klitschko of CIS (Russia) in the finals of the 89 plus category...an opponent even taller than Pele! With little trouble, Pele KO’d the huge Russian in round two with a reverse spinning kick to take the gold ."
Vitali fabricated in an interview that he got kicked in the leg but thats untrue-sorry.
@Gooseman2k2 Further from the same mag:"The Ukrainian lifted his leg to kick, left it out there for too long (the kickboxing equivalent of pawing with the jab), and Reid saw the opening, connecting with a perfect spinning kick that landed right on the tip of Klitschko’s jaw. The Ukrainian went down, and had it been regular Boxing or Kickboxing rules, there was no way there would have been any kind of ten-count (as he was out cold)".
Anyway thats that so lets leave at Diaz not being a pro boxer
@Gooseman2k2 Anyway it doesnt matter as he was out, dazed and they could have counted to 100 .I have seen this video clip before.Check if you can obtain it and also the William Van Roosemalen Vs Vitali fight. What does it matter anyway that he was ko'd before? He is great at boxing, maybe the GOAT HW and thats all that matters.Right onto Diaz now-great at MMA style boxing but not pro boxing.Simple
@layyah0905 EVERYONE tells me they have seen this fight... but NOONE can find it! It's like fucking bigfoot!
and NO Vitali is not the greatest HW of all time... not by a longshot... Most wouldent put him in the top 15... Most would put Wlad above.
Diaz probably won't make it to the top of boxing... but there are major-major titles in boxing... than Major-Minor titles... and maybe diaz could fish a Minor-Minor title or even a bit higher! The guy is made of Iron and Cardio!
@Gooseman2k2 Well Vitali's ranking is debatable but i would think Wlad is too cautious overall.Would love to see someone challenge Vitali like Sanders did for a little while or a big Riddick Bowe kind of guy that is proficient at infighting.
I admire Diaz,he's gutsy, unafraid of anyone and backs his imaage with his performance and work ethic.Ineresting to see how Badr Hari fares at pro boxing.
@GetAFuckinClue Any man can be a professional boxer... just go sign a contract and boom your an unranked pro! You ain't shit in boxing till you crack the top 100! and even boxing afficianados probably won't know who the fuck you are until you crack the top25 and win an Inter-Continental minor-major title!
Could Diaz make it to that level? if he started training straight boxing? probably not! A MUCH bigger talent pool to contend with in boxing!
Diaz can make it. he outboxed pro boxers in the octagon already. MMA fighters spend no more than 25% of their training on boxing, once they hit 100 % guys like Diaz, Dos Santos, Penn,... they could make it in pro boxing but would never touch the gold.
It's boxing dammit, 'sweet science' not rocket science.
how the hell are you going to ask kj noons about nicks boxing when he completely stood with him for 5 rounds in the rematch and boxed he shit out of him. They should be asking nick about kJ.
after 3 fights I bet nick would get a feel for it and he would start taking boxing over. he is a beast and there is no limits when someone is a beast.
No, I repeat no ufc fighter would last 1 round in the ring. No prime boxer is going to jump in the cage because they spent their entire life since 11 years old boxing. Boxing is the toughest sport there is.
@lovo1997 You are so dumb. MMA takes years of training. They don't just have to learn how to box, they have to learn Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Wrestling. If you actually believe MMA is only street fighting then you are dumb and have never watched it. It is funny because every MMA fighter could beat any boxer in their weight class by taking them down and submitting them or Ground and Pound. Refer to James Toney vs Randy Couture, MMA is better.
@believe1892 Who is we? Stupid boxing fans who don't understand, what most of those boxers know? MMA and Boxing are 2 different sports. Great Boxer comes to MMA against a Great MMA fighter they will lose unless the MMA fighter is stupid enough to stand with them. A Great MMA fighter comes to Boxing the MMA fighter is gonna lose. Pacquiao has said it Hopkins has said it and I am sure plenty of others have. Boxers have 0 ground game so they would lose in MMA.
@FlGHTlNG DUDE NO SHIT I WORKOUT MMA ND I LIKE MMA BUT BOXING HAS PURE K.O ONLY THE REAL PRO SOO CHILL THE FUK DOWN MAYBE UR ASS NEVER BEEN IN A REAL FIGHT ND IM NOT A FAN OF ANYTHING I JUST LIKE SPORT....QUIT WATCHING TOO MUCH TV
@FlGHTlNG people give the wrong analysis when it comes to answering questions about how an mma fighter would do in boxing an vice versa. Them crossing over to the other sport is the same as someone with no fighting experience starting their professional careers. Of course if you feed a debuter against a top fighter he would lose, but if you build him up gradually and take on fair competition, who is to say an mma fighter cannot become a successful boxer and vice versa?
@swimmerinstinct Well of course, but if you look at it like that, then it isn't really pure MMA vs Pure Boxing. It is like if a boxer came in, and trained for like a year or so, he would be an amateur MMA fighter with great hands. Generally speaking, MMA vs Boxing is a just a regular boxer fighting an MMA fighter. Not a boxer trained for MMA. If a boxer was to really make a transition to MMA, he would have to learn. I hope you get what I meant, hard to say without actually saying it.
@FlGHTlNG not sure i really follow, but my point is that if a boxer wants to make it in mma, he'd have to learn the entire game put in years of training also, and build himself up gradually in competition. Same this if an mma fighter wanted to be a boxer. If anything, both of them have potential in each other's sport cuz they already had some exposure to boxing, that being said i think the mma turned boxer has more potential cuz he already trained some boxing while in mma.
@swimmerinstinct if they put more like pacman or floyd or roy most boxers like that they will knockout any ufc but the normal pro boxer may not make it or they do have a chance nd mma doesnt just have skilled the way boxing fight wit k.o power nd alot of jab nd footwork nd mma has the ground nd leg kicks nd this sport is difference nd mma nd boxing cant just win
Lol idiots who have no clue about street fights, there are so many variables in a street fight beyond just fighting and grappling skills. A knucklehead would be able to KO a professional fighter in a street fight whereas he would have no chance in hell if he was in the octagon or ring. Street fighting is gnarly as hell and there are no rules
Mma is real fighting if you were in a real fight u wouldnt stand with ur opponent you would try to take them down and beat there all also MMA ALL DAY! boxing is dying ...
@MujoAndFata Throwing punches is the easiest thing you can do as far as combat sports go. That's why so many fatasses have been great boxers. If you just add kicks to the mix it takes more than twice as much energy, and if its mma, fatty is fucked lol.
@TheDrunkwraith lol are u a fucking retard? First off how is boxing a dying sport? Boxing is literally 20x as popular as MMA is worldwide. Boxing is the hardest sport to master. What great boxers have been fatasses? Boxing takes much more stamina and lasts much longer. Damn it must be so easy to box and so hard to be an MMA champ. I guess thats y boxers make MILLIONS and MMA fighters struggle to get by.I guess thats y MMA has WWE/Math teachers as legends. MMA=Low talent Joke of a sport
@cpaignboxing You obviously don't even keep up with the sport your defending. It's a known fact that boxing is dying dumbass, sure it still has millions of viewers for every event, but it's shit compared to how it used to be. MMA has only been around since the 90's (vale tudo in brazil before that) so no shit they don't get paid good. Considering MMA's short reign, guys like GSP getting paid hundreds of thousands per fight is outstanding. Continued...
@TheDrunkwraith Im sick of bandwagon MMA fans who knw nothing. MMA was around hundreds of years before Christ. Klitchko vs Haye had an estimated 500,000,000 million viewers worldwide. The only place boxing is even kind of declining is the US.Boxing still outdraws MMA easily. The only time MMA draws is with Lesnar and i big part is his WWE fan base.Only one MMA event has done over 1 mil without lesnar. Ur just another MMA fan who has no clue. Most places outside the US see MMA as soft core gay porn
@cpaignboxing I didn't even notice this stupid shit before lol. MMA has been around since before christ, wow ive never heard something so stupid in my life. Street fights with people that have no clue what they're doing have been, but people didn't start to integrate different styles of martial arts together until vale tudo came around. The only people that see mma as soft core gay porn are the people who think boxing actually works in a real fight. Try it on me and its straight to your back :)
@TheDrunkwraith lol whos talking about a street fight?Punching someone in the face doesn't work in a street fight? Any top level HW boxer only needs one punch bare knuckle and its over it doesn't matter who u are. Ever heard of Pankration? Its the original MMA u fucking idiot. R all MMA fans this ignorant?"was a martial art introduced into the Greek Olympic Games in 648 BC and founded as a blend of boxing and wrestling but without any rules" Plz learn something before u speak
@cpaignboxing Alright you throw a top level hw boxer at an average mma fighter and see what happens. Guarantee he'll get taken down and submitted in a heartbeat because only a retard would stand with a pro boxer bare knuckles. The greeks came up with the original concept, but in the end it died out, so its irrelevant to modern mma.
@TheDrunkwraith Pankration was an Olympic game for over 1000 years. Irrelevant to modern MMA? And yes throw a top level boxer into MMA and yes he will get taken down without any training. But a street fight? U dont find out someones a pro boxer until your lying on the ground.Everybody knows the last thing you want to do in a street fight is go to the ground. Most MMA guys would use there boxing in a street fight first. But in reality i care VERY little about what would happen in a street fight
@TheDrunkwraith MMA's cant punch to save there ass.. Im a boxer & i have had street fights with MMA's.The thing is this mate .If im taken down , then the MMA will have to LIVE there forever on the ground with me OR run away after he unlocks his submission cus il KNOCK him spark out.Submissions do hurt but its a shock pain not intense but how long for can an MMA keep at it?cus If i get up Hes KO'd.In a fight a boxer will ALWAYS have that punchers chance & that's what makes him Always dangerous.
@TheRey4you Man, sometimes that doesn't matter. I've been in street fights and controlled fights with some pretty good boxers, I ko'd one, and submitted three. If you can't grapple, you can't fight against a guy who has both grappling and striking. That's not an opinion, that's pretty much a fact. I'd take Matt Serra ANY day over ANY boxer. Hell, Floyd Mayweather could never beat a UFC lightweight. Sorry, it just is what it is.
@TheShottyCutScene yeah good job using street fighting to back up your point, "pretty good boxers" LOl. These are professional athletes not backyard brawlers.. Street fighting has so many variables.. so saying MMA fighters would be better at street fighting is hilarious. And what in god's name do you mean by submitted three in street fighting, the guy you were fighting tapped out? Submissions in street fighting = breaking bones.
@laistar Oh, they tapped out, I didn't necessarily break the hold. I broke one tight Kimura, and choked two out. I mainly broke the Kimura because I think the guy got the point, he was pretty much in tears. Also, If you can ground and pound, if you can kick, choke, armbar or leg lock, you have a DISTINCT advantage. That's why I'd take Matt Serra over ANY boxer or street fighter. Serra can fight off his back, he has good stand up and GREAT leg kicks. Any boxer/street fighter would be crippled.
@cpaignboxing You used to half ass fighters as examples for mma, wow what a retard. If you had wrestled one time in your life you would NEVER say something as stupid as boxing takes much more stamina and lasts longer, because wrestling alone takes literally every muscle in your body and throwing kicks takes twice as much energy as punches. You also have a gigantic adrenaline dump every time you have an mma fight that you have to learn to control, something I never had a problem with in boxing.
@TheDrunkwraith haha okay well i wrestled from 1st grade to my freshman year when i started boxing.Boxing is much harder. As for adrenaline why dont u explain to me how that would be different? Ur clueless man."You used to half ass fighters as examples for mma" OMG did u really just confuse Klitchko and Haye for MMA fighters? HAHAH so naive.Lets be real here.Everyone wants to watch boxing.U mma fans talk up the ground game so much yet Bo everytime its on the ground for 1 minute.
@cpaignboxing You said math teacher and wwe star, that's referring to rich franklin and brock lesnar, unless you seriously didnt realize it lmao. The adrenaline is way different because in boxing you already know the jist of what's about to happen, but in mma you have absolutely no clue and your body reacts with an unbelievable adrenaline rush. You haven't fought in mma so you have no first hand proof to back your claims. I've done them both and anyone else who has will tell you the same story.
if you have 30 years old in box and you dont have any important fight you are done . in mma you can have 30 or 35 years old and soon you can fight for a title. example : forrest grifin star ol in mma and was a champion in ufc . in box is impossiible .
@HeavenAndIce yea no one says that boxing will disappear but it wont be the mainstream combat sport anymore, MMA is the new big thing in combat sport and boxing will disappear and become more and more like muay thai with smaller and smaller show.
boxing is most popular , boxing is mos exciting , boxing is better than mma .note : i am a fan of mma , but the point is boxing is most dificult sport than mma , .
@krisnnaabraham hahahahaha, i have been a amateur boxer for 5 years and ive just recently started to practise MMA and man when you start to practise jiu jitsu, wrestling, judo or any combatfight that is on the ground you realize how hard it really is, i would say MMA is about 10 times harder than boxing, their is so much more you have to think about and train for in mma, perfection in MMA doesn't exist. and by the way MMA is much more mainstream theese days than boxing.
@4pl3x because you are a loser , and yua are very bad boxing . box 30 years you are very old in mma 30 or 40 you are in your best moments . box is more dificult and is more exciting .
@krisnnaabraham i think within a year you will start watching mma and understand that mma is a much more exciting sport, mma is the sport of fighting while boxing is the sport of punching but you don't know what you are talking about cus you have never trained a martial arts in your whole life so you are just a fan with an opinion, i have been training both boxing and mma and me like most people say MMA is much better and a much harder sport than boxing.
@krisnnaabraham thats because in boxing u stand around gettin punched in the head a million times. its not their body thats out of shape at 30 years old. its their brain has turned into mush from too many punches.
@krisnnaabraham Right, using two weapons is harder than using 8, defending the take down, taking the other guy down, getting elbowed, punched, and knees on the ground or standing/clinch. I once heard Mike Tyson say he only trained 2 weeks for a fight. If you did something that dumb in mma you'd get beaten into retirement. Boxing is the most non athletic sport there is, but not one champ in UFC right now isn't a freak athlete.
@krisnnaabraham Lol okay I've heard that a million times since the 90's and guess what, MMA keeps getting more competitive and boxing keeps dying. Boxing is going down the drain because people realize watching two guys slowly give each other brain damage isn't that cool. The most damage MMA fighters take is usually from injuries during training or if the referee stops the fight too late. MMA fighters know something about respect, something you boxing douchebags still haven't figured out.
Nick Diaz has best boxing in MMA, in pure boxing he would adjust his style and do amazing.
Boxing is far from dead, get your head out of your ass and enjoy a good fight. I enjoy celebrity boxing too but your not a fan until you stop smelling the shit..
Nick Diaz cant make it in boxing. Too slow, but he'll do good in MMA b'coz he's not scared to get hit and throws combinations. That's why he allways takes 1 and gives 3
@cpaignboxing Because he was promised a title shot against GSP genius. Why the hell would he start his career over in a dying sport after getting offered a UFC contract? He even said himself that he was gonna box if he didn't start getting paid better, and it worked pretty well if you ask me. Good business move making Dana White come to him instead of the other way around.
@HeavenAndIce yea but the deal is that boxing is getting smaller and smaller, it was mainstream for a long time but now MMA has becomed mainstream while boxing is becoming more like just muay thai.
@HeavenAndIce I think they're referring to the large business of boxing, not the style. Karate, Muay Thai, Judo, and Olympic Wrestling is aren't huge international businesses. Boxing as a business is waning.
@choyleefutkid1 boxers like paquia or mayweather have almost lethal energy behind theyre knockout combinations. and those dudes weigh under 150lbs. they could send someone into a coma if given the oppurtunity. MMA is a sport where no one is a world class in anything other than wrestling (which you have to take your opponent down to even do), and shit like BJJ or muy thai. An athlete like mayweather or de lahoya is too agile and lethal to try to shoot down unless he completly fucks up
most poeple really dont realize how much of a disadvantage a top mma fighter has against a top boxer. you have to remember a top contender usually is a guy with a long reach so whatever lenght his punch extension is a no fly zone for his opponant. i dont care if your a top shooter like couture you would have to look for takedowns below the knees to your going to rained on with jabs from the top. in a real fight the MMA guy is fucked unless he finds an enormous footwork issue with the boxer.
In general, MMA is known for below average punching but not striking in general. Legs, knees, and elbows are also tools for striking. It goes both ways though. Both sports involve fighting, analyzing the opponent's weakness, and exploiting it. Apples to oranges. A boxer with no other form of fight training would get destroyed in the cage. The first thing a highly trained MMA fighter would do is take out the legs with kicks or take it to the ground, thus exploiting the boxer's weakness
Because of Diaz' aggressiveness, punching ability and unmatched endurance, I think he could do well in boxing. He would have to sharpen up his standup, but I'm sure he could handle that.
@HeavenAndIce Hahahha well good luck with that. The agrument was made between MMA and boxing a while back for marketing. People on the internet just feed off it. Boxing is losing money thats about it, even then there is a strong amount of money in boxing. It will never end cause neither one will really die out.
@Tomaiuolo94 I dont know about losing money in boxing. Floyd and Manny will probably make the most ever, and the K bro's, I'm sure they get paid ten times more than any HW in MMA.
And all the other divisions, would still get around the same as any top MMA fighter, ala Anderson Silva or GSP. Bernard Hopkins will get million day paychecks for his next fight or two or three. Only Fedor hit the million dollar mark last month.
@arama0010 Yeah I know where your coming from though. Dont get me wrong here, boxing does make more then MMA I think. Im not going to say any numbers but for the record I was trainined by Fabers former coach. And he told me at Fabers title fights he made about 3 million at most. Which he took about 1.5 if I can recall. But when you talk about boxing its like 12,37,77 million dollars a fight. Yet from what I here boxing is losing money. Ill do my reseach and get back to you in that.
@brandeezy 108 I hope you're right but saying its nearing the end of an era and could be someone better, etc is a bit too prediction orientated-ie its not factual until it happens.I hope Rios or Khan can emerge as greats or a new talent emerges coz i love boxing.Kids worldwide dont care generally and prefer soccer. Thus my assertion, together with the lack of fights shown that boxing unfortunately doesnt matter anymore.I hope im wrong!
boxer's are boxers in the ring. once we get in the streets do you guy's really think we will JUST box? maybe, maybe not. it calls on the situation. if the person is going at us just swinging wildly like a lunatic, we'll most likely knock them out. if they know more than just boxing, then we'll have to do more than boxing. if they have a weapon, well that's when anyone should just run away or call the cops or give them what they want so they can leave you alone.
@HeavenAndice True, but boxing is not part of popular culture worldwide anymore and has lost at least 50 years in terms of fighters, skills, amateur and school leagues worldwide, newspaper inches in spite of modern training, nutrition and multimedia.4 top dogs(Klitschkos,Floyd,Manny) plus Haye and Khan earn the big bucks.Pavlik?Grandfather Hopkins beat him and fellow freak show Toney still fights. Most others are obscure names or tin cans.K.J.Noons(MMA) is 11-2 in boxing! Most journeymen earn nothing.
@layyah0905 boxing isn't part of the popular culture? i beg to differ. just because manny, floyd, klitschko and such are almost going to leave boxing doesn' mean boxing will die because there are always rising stars in boxing. in time, they will be the icons that replace pacquiao or mayweather or whoever. boxing isn't dead and it never will be, it's near the closing of an era in boxing is all. there's never going to be another tyson or pacquiao or ali, BUT there could always be someone better.
@cpaignforeva2010 True James Toney shouldnt have been signed by UFC but it was still an entertaining idea. And them boxers wouldnt go into MMA because theyre getting paid more for 1 fight than Brock Lesnar has made in his entire life. How is MMA weird? Its martial arts fighters fighting and theres a huge amount of respect in it. MMA is more exciting than boxing.
@cpaignforeva2010 lol so you are a boxing fan, great for you, why do you trash people for like/watching MMA... Why not leave it alone, let people watch what they want to watch you yapping on the internet with long paragraphs of nerd rage isn't going to change anyones opinion on which sport they find more appealing, and exciting. You're just a common whinner and a hater. I hate soccer I don't go to every soccer video and say how much better hockey is... I'm not a loser like that.
@cpaignforeva2010 No JDS is considered the best boxer in MMA. How an MMA fighter does boxing? You reliaze that makes no sense? Anyone can do it. They have to train at yeah but your just bad mouthing MMA. Many MMA fans like boxing such as myself. Who cares what MMA fighters get paid, they do it because they love it, and boxers get way too much. Its is possible he would get KOd but he could also KO them. Anything can happen in a fight man.
@cpaignforeva2010 the engineer never made it as a champ, and the teacher was a champ for a short while he got his belt taken away by a fighter who dedicated his life to the sport, and that man has been champ ever since
@cpaignforeva2010 Thats completely ignorant. Joe Frazier started boxing in college and turned out to be one of the best boxers out there. And MMA fighters can compete in boxing, who are you to say the cant? A blind man climbed Mt Everest so why cant an MMA fighter compete in boxing?
mmas don't belong in a boxing ring, they should stick to street fighting or fighting in the octogon. almost 100% of losing in a boxing match unless against weak opposition. mmas are generally below average strikers as far as hands go anyway. i know for damn sure james toney doesn't belong in the octogon ESPECIALLY as old and bloated as he was when he got his ass whooped by corture. but they are two different sports, NO WHERE in boxing do we go around claiming that we are good street fighters.
A backward step for Diaz who truly will be limitng his effectiveness as a competitor in a sport such as boxing.Does it make sense to get beaten by boxers who wouldnt last a minute against him in a street or MMA fight? Nobody even knows Diaz in the boxing world and he would probably end up a journeyman.Rather focus on beating the great GSP (if he can) and becoming a superstar at MMA-a sport growing at huge pace worldwide where the purses can only go one way in the future(up).
Sergio made himself look stupid, pretending that mma fighters are more beasts then boxers, yea u might get cut far easier in an mma fight with knees and elbows, but standing up and punching each other in the head for 12 rounds is far more dangerous, I really wanted Nick Diaz to do boxing and fight a top guy like Toney did when he fought Randy, Nick would soon realise that MMA is far easier when somone like Jeff Lacey knocks him the fuck out in 1 round, and hes not allowed to go for a take down
yea ok Stupid i guess u didnt hear about GSP putting vaseline on his shoulders for that BJ Penn fight? many ppl claim that his corner greased him and BJ even says it was impossible to keep a good guard on him cuz he was greased. and besides those other guys he fought dont nearly have the gas tank that Diaz has.. Especially Penn! nick would bring the fight the whole time. it would be close if anything
@dsettleascii you only wish you were half as in shape as he was. the guy smokes weed, says what is on his mind, and gets paid to beat people up, YOU FAIL
@MobiusX sylvia has won his last four fights i think..every fight after ray knocked him out..im not saying he is a top fighter or making a come back lol.. im just say he has been winning as of late.
It's a moot point to compare boxing to MMA. Boxing you use your hands only in a standup. MMA combines striking and ground game. So when the bell rings, the MMA guy goes straight to the ground. Not a fair comparison.
@Metallica09Tapout it's true. He hasn't gotten that much better, since he left UFC the competition got that much worse. He was basicly the same striker when Riggs, Sherk and Karo out-boxed him....

Nick who trains here was koed by a local kid who like many in the islands or like Oregonians will throw, I admit
honoluluwindow 2 weeks ago
@honoluluwindow I've seen humility in every combative sport, especially in mixed martial arts. I would say wrestling is probably one of the most physically demanding combative sports. You could receive sub par training in any sport, it doesn't mean you are going to succeed. I've never heard of anyone BJ's weight knocking him unconscious, nor could I find any articles on the net relating to such topic. I am not a Diaz fan but I don't see anything about him ever being KO'ed either.
Immortalsyn83 1 week ago
@dromezz1993 1993 is when UFC had no weight limits and I was in the gym when kimo and some others worked out next to us in kalihi. They did not impress me much back then. I have more respect for the sport now since trying an mma workout. That training is vicious. But I still am glad I learnt to box. It was more fun and didn't produce bullies like mma. Hell bj, don frye and nick were koed by not very good local boxers from here lol
honoluluwindow 3 weeks ago
@honoluluwindow Combative sports don't produce bullies, most MMA champions are very humble people. To my knowledge BJ has never been KOed in his entire career so perhaps in training maybe? Last time Nick was TKO (not KO) was 10 years ago. Don Frye got lit up but then had a crowed of people holding him back, that wasn't even a fight. Frye could take a beating in his prime, just watch his legendary fight with Takayama.
Immortalsyn83 2 weeks ago
A Boxer in his prime vs an MMA fighter in their prime? That's like telling a runner to face a hurdle jumper in the Olympics, and expecting it to be fair. It's not even the same sport.
Many MMA fighters swear by Boxing's effectiveness in the cage when paired w/ other styles correctly. Put an MMA fighter who uses Boxing against a contrasting style and that's a much better fight. Other wise the pro Boxer gets chocked out quick, or knocks the guy out quick. Take your pick, because it will be short

Diaz would most likely not be top level at boxing but im tempered by the examples of Vitali Klitschko and Naseem Hamed.Vitali was said to be glass jawed at kickboxing after having been knocked out by Reid and Van Roosemallen in 1994.Also he was said to be an arm puncher with poor kickboxer balance.Nobody thought he would make it in boxing when he started out.Naseem Hamed did everything wrong according to the pundits with his offbalance punches and unorthodoxy.
layyah0905 1 month ago
@layyah0905 Wait wait wait wait WAIT!... There is no time in HISTORY than Vitali has been hurt by getting hit in the Jar... Reid injured him with a Thigh kick...
The other one is a misquoted urban myth! look it up you crazy crazy man! Vitali has taken punches from the highest level guys in combat sports... and was never so much as black-back stepped!
Gooseman2k2 1 month ago
@Gooseman2k2
Vitali fabricated in an interview that he got kicked in the leg but thats untrue-sorry.
layyah0905 1 month ago
@layyah0905 Spinning kick... to the Thigh... OBVIOUSLY! NO ONE does a spinning kick to the head of a 6,7 man!
Gooseman2k2 1 month ago
@Gooseman2k2 Further from the same mag:"The Ukrainian lifted his leg to kick, left it out there for too long (the kickboxing equivalent of pawing with the jab), and Reid saw the opening, connecting with a perfect spinning kick that landed right on the tip of Klitschko’s jaw. The Ukrainian went down, and had it been regular Boxing or Kickboxing rules, there was no way there would have been any kind of ten-count (as he was out cold)".
Anyway thats that so lets leave at Diaz not being a pro boxer
layyah0905 1 month ago
@layyah0905 LAWL no way there could have been a ten-count BECAUSE IT'S LIGHT CONTACT rules!
Gooseman2k2 1 month ago
@Gooseman2k2 Anyway it doesnt matter as he was out, dazed and they could have counted to 100 .I have seen this video clip before.Check if you can obtain it and also the William Van Roosemalen Vs Vitali fight. What does it matter anyway that he was ko'd before? He is great at boxing, maybe the GOAT HW and thats all that matters.Right onto Diaz now-great at MMA style boxing but not pro boxing.Simple
layyah0905 1 month ago
@layyah0905 EVERYONE tells me they have seen this fight... but NOONE can find it! It's like fucking bigfoot!
and NO Vitali is not the greatest HW of all time... not by a longshot... Most wouldent put him in the top 15... Most would put Wlad above.
Diaz probably won't make it to the top of boxing... but there are major-major titles in boxing... than Major-Minor titles... and maybe diaz could fish a Minor-Minor title or even a bit higher! The guy is made of Iron and Cardio!
Gooseman2k2 1 month ago

And Boxing takes years and years of training
lovo1997 2 months ago
@lovo1997 You are so dumb. MMA takes years of training. They don't just have to learn how to box, they have to learn Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Wrestling. If you actually believe MMA is only street fighting then you are dumb and have never watched it. It is funny because every MMA fighter could beat any boxer in their weight class by taking them down and submitting them or Ground and Pound. Refer to James Toney vs Randy Couture, MMA is better.
FlGHTlNG 2 months ago
@FlGHTlNG who is james toney??? lol....have you hear marquez or pacman or mosley?? fboxers like that? we know they can beat mma fighters
believe1892 1 month ago
@believe1892 Who is we? Stupid boxing fans who don't understand, what most of those boxers know? MMA and Boxing are 2 different sports. Great Boxer comes to MMA against a Great MMA fighter they will lose unless the MMA fighter is stupid enough to stand with them. A Great MMA fighter comes to Boxing the MMA fighter is gonna lose. Pacquiao has said it Hopkins has said it and I am sure plenty of others have. Boxers have 0 ground game so they would lose in MMA.
FlGHTlNG 1 month ago
@FlGHTlNG DUDE NO SHIT I WORKOUT MMA ND I LIKE MMA BUT BOXING HAS PURE K.O ONLY THE REAL PRO SOO CHILL THE FUK DOWN MAYBE UR ASS NEVER BEEN IN A REAL FIGHT ND IM NOT A FAN OF ANYTHING I JUST LIKE SPORT....QUIT WATCHING TOO MUCH TV
believe1892 1 month ago
@FlGHTlNG people give the wrong analysis when it comes to answering questions about how an mma fighter would do in boxing an vice versa. Them crossing over to the other sport is the same as someone with no fighting experience starting their professional careers. Of course if you feed a debuter against a top fighter he would lose, but if you build him up gradually and take on fair competition, who is to say an mma fighter cannot become a successful boxer and vice versa?
swimmerinstinct 1 month ago
@swimmerinstinct Well of course, but if you look at it like that, then it isn't really pure MMA vs Pure Boxing. It is like if a boxer came in, and trained for like a year or so, he would be an amateur MMA fighter with great hands. Generally speaking, MMA vs Boxing is a just a regular boxer fighting an MMA fighter. Not a boxer trained for MMA. If a boxer was to really make a transition to MMA, he would have to learn. I hope you get what I meant, hard to say without actually saying it.
FlGHTlNG 1 month ago
@FlGHTlNG not sure i really follow, but my point is that if a boxer wants to make it in mma, he'd have to learn the entire game put in years of training also, and build himself up gradually in competition. Same this if an mma fighter wanted to be a boxer. If anything, both of them have potential in each other's sport cuz they already had some exposure to boxing, that being said i think the mma turned boxer has more potential cuz he already trained some boxing while in mma.
swimmerinstinct 1 month ago
@swimmerinstinct if they put more like pacman or floyd or roy most boxers like that they will knockout any ufc but the normal pro boxer may not make it or they do have a chance nd mma doesnt just have skilled the way boxing fight wit k.o power nd alot of jab nd footwork nd mma has the ground nd leg kicks nd this sport is difference nd mma nd boxing cant just win
believe1892 1 month ago
Lol idiots who have no clue about street fights, there are so many variables in a street fight beyond just fighting and grappling skills. TheDrunkwraith 2 months ago
MMA=Low talent Joke of a sport
cpaignboxing 2 months ago
@cpaignboxing You obviously don't even keep up with the sport your defending. It's a known fact that boxing is dying dumbass, sure it still has millions of viewers for every event, but it's shit compared to how it used to be. MMA has only been around since the 90's (vale tudo in brazil before that) so no shit they don't get paid good. Considering MMA's short reign, guys like GSP getting paid hundreds of thousands per fight is outstanding. Continued...
TheDrunkwraith 2 months ago
@TheDrunkwraith Im sick of bandwagon MMA fans who knw nothing. MMA was around hundreds of years before Christ. Klitchko vs Haye had an estimated 500,000,000 million viewers worldwide. The only place boxing is even kind of declining is the US.Boxing still outdraws MMA easily. The only time MMA draws is with Lesnar and i big part is his WWE fan base.Only one MMA event has done over 1 mil without lesnar. Ur just another MMA fan who has no clue. Most places outside the US see MMA as soft core gay porn
cpaignboxing 2 months ago
@cpaignboxing I didn't even notice this stupid shit before lol. MMA has been around since before christ, wow ive never heard something so stupid in my life. Street fights with people that have no clue what they're doing have been, but people didn't start to integrate different styles of martial arts together until vale tudo came around. The only people that see mma as soft core gay porn are the people who think boxing actually works in a real fight. Try it on me and its straight to your back :)
TheDrunkwraith 2 months ago
@TheDrunkwraith lol whos talking about a street fight?Punching someone in the face doesn't work in a street fight? Any top level HW boxer only needs one punch bare knuckle and its over it doesn't matter who u are. Ever heard of Pankration? Its the original MMA u fucking idiot. R all MMA fans this ignorant?"was a martial art introduced into the Greek Olympic Games in 648 BC and founded as a blend of boxing and wrestling but without any rules" Plz learn something before u speak
cpaignboxing 2 months ago
@cpaignboxing Alright you throw a top level hw boxer at an average mma fighter and see what happens. Guarantee he'll get taken down and submitted in a heartbeat because only a retard would stand with a pro boxer bare knuckles. The greeks came up with the original concept, but in the end it died out, so its irrelevant to modern mma.
TheDrunkwraith 2 months ago
@TheDrunkwraith Pankration was an Olympic game for over 1000 years. Irrelevant to modern MMA? And yes throw a top level boxer into MMA and yes he will get taken down without any training. But a street fight? U dont find out someones a pro boxer until your lying on the ground.Everybody knows the last thing you want to do in a street fight is go to the ground. Most MMA guys would use there boxing in a street fight first. But in reality i care VERY little about what would happen in a street fight
cpaignboxing 2 months ago
@TheDrunkwraith MMA's cant punch to save there ass.. Im a boxer & i have had street fights with MMA's.The thing is this mate .If im taken down , then the MMA will have to LIVE there forever on the ground with me OR run away after he unlocks his submission cus il KNOCK him spark out.Submissions do hurt but its a shock pain not intense but how long for can an MMA keep at it?cus If i get up Hes KO'd.In a fight a boxer will ALWAYS have that punchers chance & that's what makes him Always dangerous.
TheRey4you 2 months ago
@TheRey4you Man, sometimes that doesn't matter. I've been in street fights and controlled fights with some pretty good boxers, I ko'd one, and submitted three. If you can't grapple, you can't fight against a guy who has both grappling and striking. That's not an opinion, that's pretty much a fact. I'd take Matt Serra ANY day over ANY boxer. Hell, Floyd Mayweather could never beat a UFC lightweight. Sorry, it just is what it is.

TheShottyCutScene 2 months ago
@TheShottyCutScene yeah good job using street fighting to back up your point, "pretty good boxers" LOl. These are professional athletes not backyard brawlers.. Street fighting has so many variables.. so saying MMA fighters would be better at street fighting is hilarious. And what in god's name do you mean by submitted three in street fighting, the guy you were fighting tapped out? Submissions in street fighting = breaking bones.
laistar 2 months ago
@laistar Oh, they tapped out, I didn't necessarily break the hold. I broke one tight Kimura, and choked two out. I mainly broke the Kimura because I think the guy got the point, he was pretty much in tears. Also, If you can ground and pound, if you can kick, choke, armbar or leg lock, you have a DISTINCT advantage. That's why I'd take Matt Serra over ANY boxer or street fighter. Serra can fight off his back, he has good stand up and GREAT leg kicks. Any boxer/street fighter would be crippled.
TheShottyCutScene 2 months ago
@cpaignboxing You used to half ass fighters as examples for mma, wow what a retard. If you had wrestled one time in your life you would NEVER say something as stupid as boxing takes much more stamina and lasts longer, because wrestling alone takes literally every muscle in your body and throwing kicks takes twice as much energy as punches. You also have a gigantic adrenaline dump every time you have an mma fight that you have to learn to control, something I never had a problem with in boxing.
TheDrunkwraith 2 months ago
@TheDrunkwraith haha okay well i wrestled from 1st grade to my freshman year when i started boxing.Boxing is much harder. As for adrenaline why dont u explain to me how that would be different? Ur clueless man."You used to half ass fighters as examples for mma" OMG did u really just confuse Klitchko and Haye for MMA fighters? HAHAH so naive.Lets be real here.Everyone wants to watch boxing.U mma fans talk up the ground game so much yet Bo everytime its on the ground for 1 minute.
cpaignboxing 2 months ago
@cpaignboxing You said math teacher and wwe star, that's referring to rich franklin and brock lesnar, unless you seriously didnt realize it lmao. The adrenaline is way different because in boxing you already know the jist of what's about to happen, but in mma you have absolutely no clue and your body reacts with an unbelievable adrenaline rush. You haven't fought in mma so you have no first hand proof to back your claims. I've done them both and anyone else who has will tell you the same story.

@krisnnaabraham hahahahaha, i have been a amateur boxer for 5 years and ive just recently started to practise MMA and man when you start to practise jiu jitsu, wrestling, judo or any combatfight that is on the ground you realize how hard it really is, i would say MMA is about 10 times harder than boxing, their is so much more you have to think about and train for in mma, perfection in MMA doesn't exist. and by the way MMA is much more mainstream theese days than boxing.

jas68maro 2 months ago

He would have to sharpen up his standup, but I'm sure he could handle that.

diaz has a glass chin. he will not last in a high level striking sport such as boxing.

@hustleboy62 really cause when has he ever got knocked out?
omgstoptakingnames 6 months ago
@HeavenAndIce Hahahha well good luck with that. The agrument was made between MMA and boxing a while back for marketing. People on the internet just feed off it. Boxing is losing money thats about it, even then there is a strong amount of money in boxing. It will never end cause neither one will really die out.
Tomaiuolo94 6 months ago
@Tomaiuolo94 I dont know about losing money in boxing. Floyd and Manny will probably make the most ever, and the K bro's, I'm sure they get paid ten times more than any HW in MMA.
And all the other divisions, would still get around the same as any top MMA fighter, ala Anderson Silva or GSP. Bernard Hopkins will get million day paychecks for his next fight or two or three. Only Fedor hit the million dollar mark last month.
arama0010 6 months ago

Most journeymen earn nothing.
layyah0905 7 months ago
@layyah0905 boxing isn't part of the popular culture? i beg to differ. just because manny, floyd, klitschko and such are almost going to leave boxing doesn' mean boxing will die because there are always rising stars in boxing. in time, they will be the icons that replace pacquiao or mayweather or whoever. boxing isn't dead and it never will be, it's near the closing of an era in boxing is all. there's never going to be another tyson or pacquiao or ali, BUT there could always be someone better.
brandeezy108 7 months ago
@cpaignforeva2010 True James Toney shouldnt have been signed by UFC but it was still an entertaining idea. And them boxers wouldnt go into MMA because theyre getting paid more for 1 fight than Brock Lesnar has made in his entire life. How is MMA weird? Its martial arts fighters fighting and theres a huge amount of respect in it. MMA is more exciting than boxing.
UpDaDubs34 7 months ago
@cpaignforeva2010 lol so you are a boxing fan, great for you, why do you trash people for like/watching MMA... Why not leave it alone, let people watch what they want to watch you yapping on the internet with long paragraphs of nerd rage isn't going to change anyones opinion on which sport they find more appealing, and exciting. You're just a common whinner and a hater. I hate soccer I don't go to every soccer video and say how much better hockey is... I'm not a loser like that.
WadeGHamilton 7 months ago
@cpaignforeva2010 No JDS is considered the best boxer in MMA. How an MMA fighter does boxing? You reliaze that makes no sense? Anyone can do it. They have to train at yeah but your just bad mouthing MMA. Many MMA fans like boxing such as myself. Who cares what MMA fighters get paid, they do it because they love it, and boxers get way too much. Its is possible he would get KOd but he could also KO them. Anything can happen in a fight man.
UpDaDubs34 7 months ago
@cpaignforeva2010 the engineer never made it as a champ, and the teacher was a champ for a short while he got his belt taken away by a fighter who dedicated his life to the sport, and that man has been champ ever since
adRRRRianO 7 months ago
@cpaignforeva2010 Thats completely ignorant. Joe Frazier started boxing in college and turned out to be one of the best boxers out there. And MMA fighters can compete in boxing, who are you to say the cant? A blind man climbed Mt Everest so why cant an MMA fighter compete in boxing?
UpDaDubs34 7 months ago
mmas don't belong in a boxing ring, they should stick to street fighting or fighting in the octogon. almost 100% of losing in a boxing match unless against weak opposition. mmas are generally below average strikers as far as hands go anyway. i know for damn sure james toney doesn't belong in the octogon ESPECIALLY as old and bloated as he was when he got his ass whooped by corture. but they are two different sports, NO WHERE in boxing do we go around claiming that we are good street fighters.
brandeezy108 7 months ago
A backward step for Diaz who truly will be limitng his effectiveness as a competitor in a sport such as boxing.Does it make sense to get beaten by boxers who wouldnt last a minute against him in a street or MMA fight? Nobody even knows Diaz in the boxing world and he would probably end up a journeyman.Rather focus on beating the great GSP (if he can) and becoming a superstar at MMA-a sport growing at huge pace worldwide where the purses can only go one way in the future(up).
layyah0905 7 months ago

It's a moot point to compare boxing to MMA. Boxing you use your hands only in a standup. MMA combines striking and ground game. So when the bell rings, the MMA guy goes straight to the ground. Not a fair comparison.
