NATO bombed mailnly over 90% civilian targets. It was a war against serbian industry not against military that remained unscrached after 30000 NATO bombs. I was there and i know what im talking about.
It was a war of domination. If they wanted to prevent a war they could come on the ground to peacekeep WHIT serbian army togheder.
And not to support KLA terrorists. They supported the KLA to make a war not to prevent it. Serbian army didnt came down there to fight whit nobody.
nato tried to weaken the serbian machine/state but it was not hatred toward serbian population. but mass graves, sesejl plans, ethnic cleansing, "get out of your hosue in 5 minutes and out of kosovo or i'll kill you" kind of serbian military tacticts were taken directly against albanian population. see the difference?
Infact NATO wanted to DESTROY serbia to make us sell everything cause it was the only place in europe where they never had a full control in economy and politics. Its the main problem of ex yugoslavia and serbia. We had our word and we needed to lost it.

that's your stance. my opinion is that the west didn't interfere enough, it didn't have as much experience as they have now. at the time serbs were more hateful and isolated in their thinking which under world wide pressure they might have curbed it now.

We all know that serbs never shot first. JNA soldiers were attacked in slovenia, croatia and bosnia. Finaly the serbian army got attacked by KLA in kosovo. It cant be a peacefull brake up that war.

i have met a lot of good serbians. but mostly others were bullies, even in Canada sadly. I try to be open minded, i tried to enjoy Eurovision, but I admit it to you, it was stressful!, i just got scary shivers down my spine just by hearing the language.
Serbs as well as albanians are often more nationalists aboard. Sad but true. They often belive they are more serbs then serbs from serbia. I live in switzerland temporarly for only 6 years. So i was there in problematic times.
same here i've been living in canada for 7 years now.I wouldn't describe albanian diaspora as nationalistic.some of them patriotic(ie. the ones that care only baout economic and cultural issues back home).most of them don't even care at all.whereas serbs have an ugly form of nationalism.
don't put albanians and serbs on the same level on nationalism because they are not the same at all.canada is a tolerant country and the only one "attacking" me on my origin have been serbs. one of them in the school yard literally screaming to others in the univ campus about how bad albanians are etc etc.all people staring. i didn't even know that guy but maybe he had heard me speaking albanian or maybe from my face i don't know
it s a big difference on attitude and thinking. i was shocked when that happened because quite naively i was taught that you never say bad things about your neighbour. so i applied this on behaviour iwth neighbour countries. even though the recent past with serbs was horrible i would never call them bad names in canada and i fould it very rude of him to bad mouth me.most of it lies.
the first reason that comes into mind is the language barrier. Then of course many others like expulsion of albanians in waves from belgrade in different times of history.(do u really want me to go through them and give you the links?)
There probably are a few Albanians in Belgrade but they don't advertise about being Albanian. They might have just tried to integrate, added a "vic" to their last name, and kept silent about their identity.i think that being openly albanian there for a long time would pose physical risks, and also present difficulties/blocks if one wanted to advance in life or career
actually i wanted to go to belgrade for eurovision.i was in albania at the the time and since last year i wanted to go there is it is close.but because of the tension, head ache and heart attack building till february, then february, the protests, chaos after it, i didn't want to put myself in danger
plus after all those months, let's not say years of tension building up, i had no real desire or will to hear anything slavic anymore. it's not hatred, just tired of it. i have to say, like foreing media commented, i agree that eurovision improved attitutes towards serbians bc serbians themselves portrayed a softer/friendlier image than expect though not perfect.(what was that kallashnikov song?weapons again, plus the cheering for russia...etc)
the other part is that here i live in a neighbourhood of immigrants where most of them are of course from eastern europe. my neighbours here are serbians and russians, ukrainians, all pan slavics.these same ppl i i went to highschool with, they used to copy my assignments some of them didn't even know where albania/kosovo was 5 years ago...
...so people i was "friends" with all of a sudden called me "worst" enemy, snubbed me, looked at me like they were superior, all slavs started to gather in groups together, building this pan slavic nationalism with hatred towards others, wearing USSR shirts, calling me names in russian when passing by, saying they will barbecue albanians etc etc...
ok this explains it, but maybe also the fact that in countries like switzerland, austria, germany young people adopt the local politeness. i wish you 2 good luck. but personally, my friends, etc everytime we tried we got disappointed, so i'm not expecting a great deal from the eastern european black hole.(i consider myself and my country western, or at least on its own albanian, or in the mediterranean league, but not eastern european)

well, let's say for example djokovic, great tenisman, but i just watched on youtube yesterday a video speech of his talking about kosovo etc etc. never would an albanian athlete turn sports into politics, have it broadcast it on tv...it's crossing the line and serbs think it's normal. crowds cheered him...westerners would not use sports for politics either.

But if you were a 14 yrl old boy on a bus in Kosovo just 10 years ago, in 1998 and policed stopped you, and asked you what you were,and u relpied albanian, and they took you out to threat you or to the police station(real stories) what kind of treatments would you expect in Belgrade?
Its simple. I know many muslims from bosnia, croats, slovenians even americans and others living and studing in belgrade. I see tourists from every country around the balkans and the world... nobody hide their identity. But i never saw somebody who told me "im albanian". The war in bosnia was way more blodier then in kosovo so they should be more paranoic when they are in serbia. Americans bombed us, so they should be more paranoic too. A light was in KS made you most paranoic in the balkans.
i want to say that americans didn't bomb you, the serbian people. they bombed the infrastructure to stop the army from commiting genocide. i agree with clinton, that his biggest mistake is not undertaking that operation in bosnia's time, so a kosovo war would have been spared.

i remember reading the un report and the civilian casualities were the same as with albanians during the nato bombings. the first casuality was a 7-8 year old albanian boy who lost his sight, hit in the eyes smth like that.

Infact NATO wanted to DESTROY serbia to make us sell everything cause it was the only place in europe where they never had a full control in economy and politics. Its the main problem of ex yugoslavia and serbia. We had our word and we needed to lost it.

We all know that serbs never shot first. JNA soldiers were attacked in slovenia, croatia and bosnia. Finaly the serbian army got attacked by KLA in kosovo. It cant be a peacefull brake up that war.

There probably are a few Albanians in Belgrade but they don't advertise about being Albanian. They might have just tried to integrate, added a "vic" to their last name, and kept silent about their identity.i think that being openly albanian there for a long time would pose physical risks, and also present difficulties/blocks if one wanted to advance in life or career

Its simple. I know many muslims from bosnia, croats, slovenians even americans and others living and studing in belgrade. I see tourists from every country around the balkans and the world... nobody hide their identity. But i never saw somebody who told me "im albanian". The war in bosnia was way more blodier then in kosovo so they should be more paranoic when they are in serbia. Americans bombed us, so they should be more paranoic too. A light was in KS made you most paranoic in the balkans.
