Most are jump school, (numbered helmets lol)...Some are just young jumpers with heavy and awkward assed equipment. It happens. It only takes an instant to F up up there. If you 've jumped long enough, you will get a bad jump eventually.
How do they keep from getting TONS of line twists with them spinning around like that? (I'm a sport skydiving student and I WISH I could do this though!)
I have 68 jumps. Before you judge any of these people please consider this was probably their 3rd or 4th jump EVER. You can tell it's Ft Benning's jump school because of all the birth-control glasses (only people straight out of basic wear them, and yes they will prevent you from getting laid) and numbers painted on the skid-lids, (I was number 58 and can still recall the barracks, sandy dirt, The Mighty Ungawa, and pure bliss after being in basic for 12 weeks (OSUT sucks!).
Made sport jumps with T-10s but not like that ! There is a BIG difference Sky Dives and the Airborne. You Paratroopers have big 'Nads. I had a Ranger friend break his back on a Jump. He forgot to let down his Ruck.
A friend of mine, his grandad was in the Paras at D-Day and Market Garden etc BUT whether American or English the Airborne is the Airborne. It's fucking superior. I mean yeah the 101st and 82nd..great history great deeds great sacrifices. Same with our Paras. Macfad2088 that was harsh..and no our Paras are not "whiney pussies" the Airborne is exactly what it was when it was made. fucking great and better than anything else ever seen. Two things fall from the sky..bird-shit and paratroopers.
Go fuck yourself...I have fought with your British soldiers in Afghanistan...not much more than a bunch of pussies always hoping us fucking yanks will come clean up your mess.
Man, some of these people should leave Jump Status ASAP before they get killed or cause someone else to die. The equipment is good, it's the people that make mistakes. Just before we graduated the Special Ops Jumpmaster Course at Bragg, we were shown a video of a former candidate that got pulled out of the door of a C-130 by his reserve chute that deployed right into the prop blast due to his own mistake. His body actually bent the door frame of the aircraft when he struck it on his way out.
i did my first static line jump today. my exit wasn't that great but better than some of these guys. didn't arch my back enough so got line twists! the rest of the jump was really good though.
lol...in my class we had this 4 feet something chick who was kicked out the plane...funniest ever...i was laughing the whole way down...i didn't even enjoy my first jump cause i was to busy laughing...
Grow some fucking balls.... I jumped the 240, with AG Gear... (my AG's cherry jump) and had no problems. Oh and I was the stick pusher! If you don't know what that means, you shouldnt post here! lol Real jumpmasters could do pull ups off the side of that bitch! lol Airborne all the way!!! it's all in good fun fellas, dont take it personal....the army boys is fellin me!
Won't lie, if i woulda seen this video before i went to Airborne School, i might have been a little worried, but watching it after, i think it's hilarious.
Brilliant, a classic!! Boy did it make me laugh. God bless rounds they open no matter what your orientation to the earth. As someone whos "counted the rivets" it hurts nothing more than your pride.... untill the landing! Nice vid.
I had two bad exits when I was Airborne. The first was my first jump at jump school. I hestiated at the door. Never did it again. The second we were part of an air show in Little Rock, AK. The bird lerched right as I handed off my static line. I lost my balance and fell out backwards.
hmm....ok. cool. just from those videos the guys just seem to step out instead of actually jumping up and out. And i;ve talked to a few american jumpers and they say that they just leave the plane, they don't jump out...
It's all on a personal level. You're taught to make a "vigorous exit" out of the plane - out 36", up 6" I believe it was. I know when I jump that's what I always try to do - get the f*ck away from the bird. It does suck to have the ruck and weapon though.
I know alot of you LEGs are commenting on how dangerous it is....and yeah it is. But don't forget, people volunteer to do this knowing very well that their chutes may not open. Alot of it is due to their exit techniques.
No offense to our American friends, but hitting the side of the plane is due to the fact of the american style of falling out. Canadians "jab" out (jump up and out of the plane) Americans think it looks funny, but we reduce the effect of hitting the plane by doing that. And then people just have bad days.
Never hit the side of the plane but in a C-141 you exit at a 45 Degree cangle but for a C-130, you go square to the door and jump out 36 inches which is something I couldn't do due to having soo much equipment. Holding the line kept me from falling to the floor of the plane.
ohsnappson... this stuff worries me! My bf is in the 82nd and I watching this I was like "oh that would suck". ... but some of 'em were freakin funny =)
3/325th from '01 - '03. Sometimes it's the weak jumper in front of you. Thanks Kraich! I appreciate the daily pain. Luckily no detatched bicep, only a dislocated shoulder and a torn pectoral. A-BONE!!!
Man lol I remember those days, a buddy of mine in the 325 AIR had his right bicept muscle jerked outta place and slid into his forearm , it was on a c-5 jump , had a weak exit took his arm off his reserve(improper placement) and the static line wrapped around his arm and you know the rest .. For those of you geniuses out there you cant fix that.
Seen it happen to one of my good buddies...it's funny how you view this video long ago as a Joe and after 20 or so jumps everything looks different. Hoah to the Falcons...my best friend was a Blue Falcon before they became our 2nd Batt. still for me it will always be Strike Hold before Fury From The Sky. Good luck to all the Eighty-Duece Boys about to deploy. WE OWN THE NIGHT!
@shakeyatl1 It has been done for test purposes. I was in the 82nd thirty years ago, and they were jumping out of C-5 Galaxies. Yes, it makes no sense jumping out of something so slow and so big where it could be shot down by a catapult from the middle ages.
@redfalcon325 damn man. i know this is a reply to a 4 year old comment but his bicep was in his forearm..damn so what did they do to fix it or remove it?
OK, I think i was one of the test jumpers in this video, we were test jumping the C-17 for the first time. they had us wear black helmet covers with numbers on them , if you look at the video close, the bird we were jumping was a c-17 and we got hit hard by the prrop blast. learned a few things from our jumps we made, longer static lines and a better prop blast door .. 45 degree exit. if that really was my testjump stick , thats awesome, Airborne !
This was even worse years ago when you put your hands on the outside of the door to jump out (C-130s only). Lots of guys got hurt because the jumpers in front of them had weak exits causing the static line to ride low in the door.
Sreat video! I saw a guy jump with a static line routed under his arm and when I saw his arm it was so gross it made my knees feel funny and it put the fear in me, to always check mine
GREAT VIDEO!!! Wow, that was CRAZY!!! I know I have had my share of improper exits (twist in suspension lines) but that was unbelievable. Looks like must of those jumps were from a C-17 and also at Airborne School. Where did you get the video from? I wonder if they have any on improper PLF's.
I got the video from a buddy of mine. Yeah most of them did look like 17's and definetly at Airborne school. I've looked for some with fucked up PLF's but yet to find them.
we had on black helmet covers with white numbers... i have a picture of me on sicily drop zone with the helmet test number on it, they said they were filming us for research for the C-17. i volunteered to jump it, one of the last jumps i volunteered for before the accident.
