Lara was a very audacious player, high backlift followed by a drop of the blade. You bring in someone like a Mark Waugh, David Gower or Martin Crowe and these players are more technically correct. However Lara had a hunger for runs unlike many batsmen and it was exciting watching him get them. Though Crowe had the superior first class record of all these batsmen, even Lara, he couldn't quite emulate it in test cricket. Graeme Hick was a perfect example of that.
@madaboutsleep i let your mummy suck my dick every night. i hate it cause she is ugly but i let her cause she begs me to. an where did she learned to beg like that? she spreads her legs wide an asks to insert the coins in her various holes. it is hard to ignore such beggars.
but what is too much is that now she is not satisfied by just sucking my dick, she insists on undressing my penis and licking the cheese inside. yucks.
they seemed so fast because speed is always relative. Protective equipments batsmen height reaction time have improved as happens in all sports. And btw viv averaged 44 against aus and 40 against pak.
jeff was very fast but as bbc profile of him says was erratic and did not used his wrist much and so generated little seam or swing.sounds a lot like tait. Lillee was lively and very skillful but do not forget he was just 5 11 . He will hardly be a great bowler today.
btw in a study done ay wa uni in 79 lillee clocked fastest at 137.ditto gmran. Holding mid 140 only jedd cleared 150 marginally. Admittedly it was after lillees injury but viv faced lillee mostly after the injury.
@myrsd01 watch ur tongue. You see the videos of viv richards right here in youtube. Brisbane adelaide u name it. Ball never seem to bounce above chest height. Old stories ball almost carrying to boundary is a myth. Such things happen because of cracks on the pitch. I have seen a ball easily clearing the inner ring a ball bowled by salil ankola a medium pacer from india in a slow delhi pitch.
lara himself has admitted tendulkar was better.lara said tendulkar was a genius and he a mere mortal. And his fans think he is better than tendulkar. So maybe u know more about lara game than he himself even.though thatsshis job. so that makes him an idiot. So folks enjoy video of the best retarded batsman in history of the game.
@onoeoner. you have not seen anyone bat better than that? check out tendulkars innings 1992 against australia at the s.c.g. you cannot get more similar conditions.same pitch, ground bowlers. check his back foor drives and then say whose are better? lara is no doubt genius bu he pales before sachin.
@mrsys- you little parrot-swayed by old fogeys. protective gear does not make you play better.its not possible.they only add weight to your body probably hampering your stroke play.yes i protects you.thats it. like sof lillee and thommo-myths and loads of myths. lillee and thommo would be pretty average today.and thats no surprise or demeaning.athletes keep on improving in all sports. likes of thommo these days are thrashed around. consider like of tait or nantie hayward in early 2000.
Are you joking...Sachin is the greatest player this generation has witnessed...Lara never played in half as much pressure as sachin did...Everyone loves lara...no doubt...but to suggest that people will forget sachin is insane...by the way people have already started forgetting lara...did you realize..
i dont agree with you both of you. Lara had to hold the west indies battling line up for years dont tell me there is no pressure being so heavily relied on to make runs.
Both Lara and Tandulker will be remembered as legends of the game END OF STORY
well its the pressure of criticicm he is referring to..me loves lara but gotta point out that he was never criticised as much as sachin by his own country guys for underperforming which takes away a lotta pressure..in india pressure of preformance is built by people and media and only an indian will understand what sachin has to go thru..dont believe it--listen to wat matt hayden said about pressure on sachin
@heymask haha .. let me se sachin play without a helmet & arm gaurds & god knows what other padding on a uncovered pitch , no boundry ropes, against the likes of thomo & lillee etc ,he would shit himself !.. he hasnt got the balls like THE KING, SIR VIVIAN RICHARDS !! & richards did it when it mattered most .
Like a youtube poster said regarding viv & players of today , 'dont compare gaints with dwaf's'
@mrsyd01 I agree that Sir Viv was an extraordinary player...Tremendous courage..great attitude when it mattered most and I admire him a lot...I was replying to somebody's comment that said People will forget Sachin... By the way when he was just 17 he was hit in the face by Waqar Younis and started bleeding from his nose..He was asked to go out of the ground and get some treatment..He refused, played and took waqar for several boundaries...so please dont say he doesn't have the guts
@mrsyd01 Please understand that I love and admire sir Viv but since you brought the helmet up I have this question...Why did sir Viv wear pads and gloves and center point guards...safety is very impotant...thats why.. not because he is afraid...
his stats says it all...also,WI had better bowling attack than indians in 90s which consisted of jokers like dodda ganesh, david johnson, noel daivd, kuruvilla etc. though we had good bowlers like srinath(the only one) and kumble(was not effective abroad in 90s)...Sachin is the clear winner...
Sachin is the better of the two bcoz he's consistent. He plays a variety of shots including some breath-taking shots of his own like upper-cuts and paddle sweeps. He plays under immense pressure of a billion people and this self-righteous media which only cares about their TRP ratings, criticizing sachin badly if he fails to score not even more than one match.
I am an Indian and a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar, but Brian Lara is the king. he has always played match winnnng knocks and is more entertaining than scahin in test matches.
also brian lara had to play under a lot more pressure than tendulkar did..most times wen lara went to bat the team wud be 3 down for less than 50 runs...most times with tendulkar, his team had a lot of runs and there were other batsmen in the team.. plus, brian lara had to put up with a lot more pressure from the board (imagine they dropped him for a tour of sri lanka, and he made 43% of the teams runs in the previous series against them)
I love cricket and most of all I love India. However, as both Lara and Sachin will be forever immortalised as legends of the game, there is no real reason to compare them. They are legends, and are champions of cricket for the modern era. Why not just sit back and be entertained :)
And how young does Warney look in this clip! Haha! Look at his hair!
tendulkar is a good player.almost great. but greatness is not measured in statistics; its passion, creativeness, endurance and love of the game .and of all these brian lara possess and more but tendulkar is lacking in endurance, the ability to perform on the highest level at an old age as lara did. now thats great .tendulkar statistically is better but lara is the greatest coz of what he has done for cricket in general.
great video man!Post some more brian lara and sachin tendulkar innings. This was the time when Lara was at his peak as evident by his footwork and placement

My arl man saw this, and described it as the best innings he had ever seen, as good as Graham Pollock scoring 274 against Australia at Kingsmead..

Watch his feet at 3:26...I've never seen anyone play better than this. He might still be batting had Hooper not run him out.

Tendulkar had players like dravid, ganguly, laxman, in the teams, lara had no where near the depth of talent in his side.

Lara is best player in test matches and SACHIN is no where except records.
LARA has 9 double centuries
Two of them are triple-centuries (matched only by Bradman)
Lara has scored an astonishing 20% of his team runs, a feat surpassed only by Bradman (23%)
His knock's appear in top 100 knocks published by wisden..
Lara holds the world record of scoring most runs in a single over

Lara's footwork was always impeccable and he is the best technical and beautiful player ever world witnessed. Sachin is only second.

you can just see those footworks and stylish movement of his batting and recognise he's Brian Lara. Unique!! The most exciting batsman in the world.
