Wow, what a video (in fact what an audio !!!). At first it seemed as if the train was barely crawling and then you were zooming out as the train comes close and then the sound was deafening. It was so silent in the beginning that one could hear that bird calling out and then it was pure roar of the train. I loved that high quality sound on my sub-woofer. Thanks for this video. But why does the sound suddenly die down at ~01:10?
@yaanni Thanks for your generous comments. The sound was captured on a high quality external mic. I don't see the sudden die down of sound at 01:10. Perhaps a glitch in your browser? Thanks, - Jay
I love such tiny empty stations surrounded with lush greenery - you can sit on the benches all day long and see trains and people [& may be munch on some local snack]
yes...indian trains might be old, dirty and slow. But somehow they are the most beautiful, magnificent and brilliant trains in the world. The rhythm of the wheels moving along the tracks...the sounds they make as they whiz by stations...i truly miss them. Thankyou!
My dad is a chief ticket inspector but my dad's friend Joshua uncle drives mostly A.P express from hyd to balharsha and twice i got a chance to sit in the WAP loco. they are absolutely areodynamic and as a matter of fact i started the 1st gear, 2nd, 3rd , 4rth till 24 gears and which uncle took over. it is a once is a life time to drive the loco for a then 15 year old kid....where people can only dream of sitting in them...truly great locomotive.
@predatorinstincts With the rare exception of a French electric ( SNCF 25500 ) locos do not have variable gearing. What you have there is a 24 step controller and I suspect that it may have divisions for series/parallel/weak fields. I drove electric locomotives here in Australia. They had 18 notches for series, 9 notches for series parallel, 6 notches for parallel and 3 more for field weakening. There was an additional control to allow field weakening in notches 18 , 27 and 33.
@Rocketboy1950 Just to clarify there were several similar classes with variable gearing. The traction motors were big mothers and were body mounted rather than bogie mounted. The gearing was altered whilst they were at rest.
Not even the real trains sound that awesome.

@peterpocasset In a riot situation (which occasionally happens in India) people will through track stones at the engineer so to protect him...
