It's pretty simple. an overhand is just a variation of a straight punch. A hook comes from a different location. When you throw an overhand, you bottom out the opposite shoulder and step inside. With a hook, you can adjust it but you torque the torso...unless its just an arm punch you throw from the back seat. Just b/c a punch loops doesn't make it a hook. Hooks come across. Overhands go over the top, then downward. Whatever is the front foot is the hook, in Pacquiao's case it's the right.

It was an OVERHAND left. NOT a left hook. Whatever is the dominant hand, the off hand is the hooking hand. In Pac's case, it's the right. When he loops the power hand from that position, it's an overhand. The leverage on a hook vs. an overhand (left or right) is totally different.. When it's an overhand, you bottom out the opposite shoulder and step through where as the hook is a torquing of the torso.

I posted a comment before the fight and my prediction was almost right. I said Pacman KO by 9th, but he KOed Hatton by 2nd round. Also, Hatton would still be the same Hatton the Brawler. Furthermore, I predicted that Hatton will get rid of Mayweather as his trainer because they both have a different personality!!!
