As much as I don't like George Bush, I think theres something to be said about the fact that he supports it too. People of all walks of life and all different backgrounds support City Year; Republican, Democrat, old, young, black, white. I can't wait to serve!!!!
HELLO YOU TUBE, I was a City Year member myself, and I feel as though City Year is truly a blessing from god, I still thank the lord daily for the amazing experiences I had with City Year. Definitely priceless, unforgetable, breath taking, and simply put a blessing. It was still to this day the best experience of my life, and I am proud to say I am City Year. I wish for the world to embrace this program more and more, for all the cities in the world to have a City Year.
My name is Noel And I PROUDLY SERVE BANK OF AMERICA YOUNG HEROES FOR 09-10......it's still too early...but i'm planning to join city year for the second term....I LOVE IT!
for those who have negative comments PUT YOUR SELF IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES! City Year was one of the programs that changed my life for the better. AmeriCorps changed my outlook on life to give back and be a leader and to know I can do things and dream dream to HELP OTHERS out. from there I went into working with another non-profit and advocating for Justice for all.Blossom Kaleo CY Almnus from Philadelphia.
so if these are just volunteers trying to better their community why don't they just go out on their own and give the homeless blankets and dinner, etc. etc. Why join a group owned by homie land sekuri Tee? I'm sure anytime they see fit or have some kind of supposed turruris attak they can go out with their armies here full force. Very clever!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
i'm a part of city year 2009-2010, and i am proud to say that i'm a part of this new thing. and i can say that city year has already givin me the a start to my life and a truly possitive one. and one of the things we stand for is not to repeat history but to change it for the better.
I find it incredibly interesting that up until four or five months ago, comments about this video were extremely positive.
I am disappointed that those who wear tinfoil hats are shouting about fascism and brown shirts as if they were modest history scholars. What is their alternative solution? Apathy? Let those who weak reap what they sow?
Look beneath the surface and do research - City Year ideals are noble and are about bringing people together, not driving them apart. Quit being scared.
There is a huge difference between hitler's youth and city year kids teaching kids how to read and cleaning up garbage.
The difference is that Hitler's youth were willing to do really bad things. These kids are NOT. You really think one of these kids would pick up a gun and kill someone who is Jewish???
As a City Year alum and someone who has extensively (am minoring in European History) studied Fascism in the context of Hungary, Germany, and Italy as well as social movements in general I can say with confidence that is wholly absurd to suggest City Year 'forgets history quickly'. There are good reasons why City Year is the way it is, and for every person who complains about City Year there is a child whose life is going to be better because of the influence of City Year Corps Members.
City Year is commercialized volunteerism. I did it.... I'm glad it's over, but did I make a real difference? I could have.... if my chapter wasn't hell bent on being on tv or in the paper.
Watching this makes me cry. It just brings back so many wonderful memories of my City Year. I wish I could go back and relive that year all over again! Angie CYSA Founding Corps Member 1995
City Year is so awesome! I just did an event with them. We cleaned up and painted one of our local elementary schools, and the looks on the teachers and children's faces made it all worth it! You guys rock!
Actually George W. has done more to help in other countries than any other president in history, including a extensive help and aid towards multiple countries in Africa.
Congratz to all the City Year graduates in Philadelphia tomorrow, my daughter Jessica being one of them. I am so proud of her and all the rest of the members!
City Year is a unique, eye-opening experience that I beleive all young people should experience. It stregthens one's responsibility to make a difference in this world.

Two problems with City Year: now owned indirectly by the Department of Homeland Security.
GIVE and SERVE Acts of 2009 will makes this mandatory for all between the ages of 18 and 64, when the US Government decides to conscript us.

Your regurgitating what Alex Jones repeats.
How are you not an Alex Jones Youth? I think these kids will say no if they are asked to start killing people as I'm guessing Hitler's Youth did?
I don't think these kids are gonna go from picking up garbage and teaching young kids to read to killing people...
soooo... this Alex Jones rhetoric is just baseless.
It's comments like this that show that Alex Jones actually has more power over you.
