I took 4 years for your hair to grow that length? I think I will stick with relaxed hair. my hair can grow that length in 1 month, and I am african American.
@Mahoganydiva00 What an insensitive thing to say. It's just shrinkage. Plus she already stated in the video that her scalp is sensitive, so she probably already has a hard time growing her hair long. Yet I'm sure that you'll be too offended to even heed what I'm saying and just call me a "hater", as everyone seems to do when confronted.
@SaiKoSeSu Its not meant to be mean. Maybe I should have elaborated more. I was thinking about going natural, but I saw how short her hair is after 4 years and thought maybe I should just stick to relaxed hair. I was just saying my hair grows faster relaxed. Everybody hair is different. I am watching these videos to see how to take care of natural hair. Sorry if it sounds mean.
@Mahoganydiva00 You know that everyone's hair grows at different paces, whatever race they are. Who knows maybe your hair grows fast with relaxers, but you have not tried to grow it out natural. It may be faster naturally. Her hair may grow slower than yours, but she is showing her journey of natural growth not her race to long flowing natural hair.
What an inspiration, I have been relaxer free for 6 months which may not be long for some but to me, it is. Pray for me...it's a change after 27 years!!!
i like the video! i am so subbing! :) i am transitioning & i plan on doing my BC at my 10 month mark as well........i am waiting for my natural hair to b a lil bit longer! :) i would have loved it if it had like the dates included! but i still love the video & ur journey as well! good luck!
I'm sorry for the late reply. Many have asked about the MUSIC. I got it from my Mac...but I do know that it's traditional Japanese music. A quick visit to Limewire or Frostwire can hook you up!!! LOL
It is VERY relaxing and I do enjoy that type of music!
@imjust2fly Little to no products. Just make sure your hair is clean and moisturized. Put it in a style that you can leave in for a bit, then clean and repeat until your hair grows out. :)
Hey,when someone decides to go natural, they must cut their hair because their new growth( their natural hair texture) and their old growth (their permed hair texture) come into conflict with one another causeing the permed ends to fall out. You do not have to necessarily cut your hair; over a course of time, your permed ends will fall out. But being natural is the most awesome thing ever. I love it!!
heyy i'm from the 242 too!!! I really like alll the different styles you've shown. I just started transitioning but its already frustrating because my hair is harder to deal with. This video gave me hope. I think I'm gonna wait until my hair gets at least 6 inches b 4 I cut it tho. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wonderful video I've been natural 3 years now and I'm loving it I'm doing protective styles on my and my children. It ain't easy but it's far better than all the chemicals that was in my hair making me loss it all. LOL :)
I love this music..who's it by?? Its so peaceful and serene..makes me feel like I'm walking through a garden of fresh flowers or something..I dunno weird..plz tell me..its the first song..thnxs
I love your Natural hair, it definitely looks thicker, fuller, and more healthy in it's natural state! Much inspiration I am in transition 51/2 months.
this is not a video journey :O simply because you have gone back in time in certain pictures..shouldnt it be a timeline frm past to present so we can see the improvement in length in your hair :(
black african hair is the most difficult in the world.....i wish my hair was soft and grew at ease like that of a biracial person so i wont have to put chemicals on it. i am not a fan of caucasian hair i just want fast growing hair that's soft and manageable...our natural hair can sometimes look unkept....i am confused and stuck......
Ignorance is not cute, people with curly/wavy hair have shit load of issues with their hair as well. And not all biracial people have the same hair type. Every race of women put chemicals in their hair, some use chemicals to have the apperance volume and thickness. Some need to use harsh shampoos just to cleanse it. Some hair can't hold a curl and looks lifeless. Some is stringy, oily, etc. And just having your hair sit on top of your head , just straight can sometimes look unkept just as well.
@BigAl023459 Very true. My hair was so processed and THIN that I could see my neck through my hair! The chemicals even ate out the hair over my temples and I will forever have a small bald spot in the middle of my hair (thank God my thick natural hair covers it). Some ladies will relax until they only have 2 strands of hair left. I refused to be a part of that number. I can't imagine chemically treating my hair for the rest of my life. When you really stop and think about it...it is RIDICULOUS.
@BahamianSunflower - I went through the same thing as you but luckily my bald spot filled back in. I was in tears and and that is what has done it for me. I started on vitamins and added Biotin and drink a lot of water. Not only do my hair feel better but I feel better too. It's been 8 months trying to grow it back and it is making progress, however I feel the progress would be better if I go natural. Your video was great and ispires me to follow through.
@BigAl023459 Very very very true. One comment I want to add is the appearance of curly/kinky hair is often more shunned than lifeless hair. For limp/lifeless hair, it's attributed to a bad hair day, but for curly/kinky, it's being lazy. We all need to come together and realize that everybody's hair is different and beautiful in its own way and that almost EVERYONE wishes their hair was different and is prone to damaging it for that reason.
i really like this video.....ive been growing my hair natural for a year now and its about 5 inches long.....really tired of wearing the braids n twist with weave......when i wash it, it shrinks back down to about an inch.....can u tell me sum good products to use to tame my hair without it lookin super nappy????
Wow you are very creative in your hairstyles, plus your hair i very thick. I have hope for mine, I BC Dec. 28th 2008 and my hair was so thin from the relaxers, but your hair looks nice and healthy!
Peace and blessings Flower...You look so much more happy and natural now. I have been natural for nine years and I too love it. I am glad however that I did wait to go natural because we didn't always have many hair products on the market for our hair. We also didn't have the knowledge that we do now either. I am constantly learning and expanding my knowledge of self which of course includes my crown (hair). :) Continued success my sister.
i feel you. had a boy's crew cut from when i was 5 till i was 16. then i started growing my hair, when i was 18 i relaxed it thinking it was an easier way out. 6months later i got tired cos it was hard work all the straightening and stting the hair b4 bedtime. by the 9th month i ha had it. now i've cut my hair and i'm egrowing my natural hair. I REALLY REALLY REGRET EVER RELAXING MY HAIR! can't wait for it to grow.
I LOVE your styles! So creative and pretty :). I can't wait til i can do those types of things with my hair, but i have a ways to go. I am approaching a year at the end of this month! Isn't natural hair beautiful hair?! Great vid!!

You don't have to cut your hair. There are a lot of people that transition for years while just trimming off their relaxed ends piece by piece.

i was wondering
i usually get my hair washed, blow dryed and straightned, and trimmed every month so about every six weeks
i was wondering how often do you get a trim?
and could i possibly go longer without getting a trim every month and my hair will still grow?
