Can someone please explain to me why so many US tractors have such long wheel base. It does not look right and it is very poor for fuel consumption and I would have thought that is the main consideration for an owner driver.

@buggalug46 Most likely reason is that the load clearance here in the US is much bigger than in other countries. It allows us to do things differently here, just like the retricted loading gauge in Britain often means most vehicles are smaller.

I'm a truck driver. My Dad drove truck. My brothers drove truck. I rode my first time in a COE KW in the 70's. My wife can't figure out why when I'm not in the truck I look at truck papers, truck videos, and truck lots. Why? It's in the blood baby, is all I tell her. Love the music.
