@arjeforshizzle He was demonstrating that player 1 does not always win like the people at the start of the video thought. Also, the last demonstration always shows Player 1 winning.
It's weird how Capcom made such a detailed feature for something that happens so rarely... But 1:20 is pure bullshit! Come on! He sleeps with the judge!
I'm not sure if the judgement system is simply based on scores. v=o7-8B06u-OE , based on scores, Sean wins. But CPU awarded it to Gouki (Akuma). I'm guessing that there's some random factors, or you can't explain why a fighter is preferred in a match where nobody moved.
Maybe someone can try if there is a home-away advantage in the judgement system? Or whether it's completely random, or if some judges prefer certain characters... It's not very well explained I think.
One of them is Necro's girl, I know that much for certain (pigtail blonde in the all-red gear). Effie, I think her name is. No idea who the others are, but the one on the left during the first Judgement (lol Engrish) DOES look an awful lot like Cammy in her long coat.
well, most people who use MUGEN are ppl who don't give a shit about balance or any other aspects to a fighting game thus making MUGEN a pointless time waster, especially when you play by yourself all the time.
Well, most people don't realize if it's unbalanced you.....BALANCE IT..... That's the whole point of being able to edit everything. Somethings too strong? Make it weaker. Why doesn't anyone understand this? It's common sense. I don't even use it and I know this.
MUGEN has an entire world-spanning community of people who use it and develop stuff for it.
Also, working with MUGEN actually helps people to better understand fighting game mechanics and programming. More than 50% of all MUGEN code is the exact same type of code that is applied to actual fighting games.
And I learned way more about fighting games from editing MUGEN code than I ever did from the tourney scene. (And that's saying a lot.)
Thus far, the only things I've learned from the tourney scene - that bear any kind of significance at all - is how to exploit tiers, glitches, & unbalanced/broken bullshit.
I'm not sure how you learn mechanics a customize fighting game engine like Mugen, But hey everyone learns diffinetly.
The way I learn the mechanics were becauz older friends that taught me how to play since we were young we would actually go to the arcade near us after school and spend our lunch money playing fighting games.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No.
As I said, the tourney scene mainly showed me how to use "techniques" that were never intended to be in the game in the first place. (and I mean stuff like Roll Canceling, Wavedashing, infinite combos & tier-whoring.)
And the main thing about MUGEN that legions of people fail to understand is that it's a fully customizable engine, meaning that you can actually remove all the unbalanced & broken bullshit - a feat which is far from possible with actual fighting games.
Not to get into an argument that complete leaves the idea of mugen, I'll concede to you, judging from what I know from mugen, which isn't too much but what you say makes sense. But I'll toss in my two cents about the other things as well.
It's true that roll cancelling and wavedashing and things as such weren't planned, but game designers don't and can't completely anticipate the long term results of the metagame and character dynamics that they set the foundation for. Things inevitably happen that aren't planned. It isn't responsible to pick and choose what to keep.
Btw, are you talking about wavedashing in Melee? If so, the developers knew long before the game was released: they purposelly left it in there. Sakurai said it in an interview (I believe May 08 issue of Nintendo Power). I also believe Action Replay has the term: "wavedash" in its console when you air dodge into the stage.
If you're talking about something else, disregard this post :p
Hm, I question this, lol, but since you seem to have a bit of detail on it...hmm...I'll see if I can track down that issue.
But even so, the other youtuber was complaining about tourneyplayers using glitches, and I was just defending the usage of such unplanned mechanics (as long as they're not broken).
But if wavedashing was actually intended, then it only detracts from his.
As for tier-whoring...you mean picking characters based on tier? There's nothing wrong with picking the most advantaged character. Provided, I'd never do such a thing and I never advocate it when talking to new fighting gamers. In 3rd strike, I play yang, alex, remy, and hugo. So......yeah...but like, in the end, if you play to win, you'd want to increase your chances. It's a valid choice for people to choose a character they feel will help them to win.
On a customization scale Mugen should be incredibly fun. However I think the main reason people don't like it is because of the utter lack of a competitive scene. Since the possibilities are infinite, there will never ever be a standard: developers/players will always argue on balance... and change them. Will there ever be a major Mugen standard/tourney? Near impossible. Even if something is unfair in a standard Capcom game, it's unfair to everyone, making it fair in terms of opportunity/choice.
With a MUGEN game, you can edit absolutely any part of the game, but at the price of it not catching on with lots of people because MUGEN is a customizable engine & not an actual game - there's a whole bunch of smaller games being made from it instead of one major game that everyone knows about.
Seems to me that with actual fighting games, you have a major title that scores of people know about due to advertising/location tests/media coverage/arcade tourneys/etc. - but at the cost of developers being unable to improve the game's engine & character balance, unless they release an updated version of the game.
Those days are about over. Due to the wonderful tool called the internet and hard drives on consoles, developers can remotely and universally patch games as they see fit. Even arcades have that capability in Japan right now.
Tie absolutely dead even at the end of the final round, with both players having equal C/V/S/P win codes. Whether that be having equal health on timeout or a double KO.
I had a score of 65000 and my friend won judgment with 4000. Wtf
