The Channel islands are closer to France then the UK, but the majority of people put in camps and mistreated were Jews, Soviet POW's and other ethnic minorites not Brits unless they were seen as a 'threat'.

The North African campaign was classed by many Brits as a 'gentlemans war' both treated prisoners with respect and dignity. Or how a U-boat torpedoed a UK merchant ship and how the Germans surfaced and let the Brits come onto the deck as not to drown.

Lets not just target the muslims and Middle east here, Hitler saw what was happening with Palestine during the war, and made a pact with the Arab leaders because all the jews from Europe were fleeing to the middle east and they hated them just as much.
