  • im having a problem with my 03 jetta 2.0, when i put coolant in it it just pours straight into my oil pan even if its not running. please help! idk if its a bad head or what, just replaced timing belt and water pump, your videos have been a major help!

  • What is the torque specs on the cam bearing caps? I'm working on a 2002 jetta 2.0 with the similar problem and this video has help save my pocket book and a trip to a pricey shop. Thanks alot and keep doing whatcha do. My polydrive tool came from Bap Geon auto parts $24

  • at the end, sometime after market will not work on manufacture spec. that's why i always stick with fel-pro gasket.

  • Great video Mr. Samberg. Only thing I reccomend is marking the timing belt teeth to make sure you've got them placed correctly, jump a tooth and you're going to be in the engine again!

  • I've learned from this video that most German cars are a big pain in the ass. At the same time, I gotta respect the engineers for designing special parts and tools because if you want to drive a working German car, then you have to pay the money for the tools and parts. Great business to be a pain in the ass as the con of foreign cars.

  • @cheeseburga I totally agree. Japanese cars can be a pain, too. The best are big American pickup trucks with a large engine bay under the hood!

    Actually... its the "child lock" principle. A nice easy way to prevent people like you messing with their finely crafted engineering.

  • @YeechBlitz Nice tutorial man.... I am a garage mechanic too! I only work on my 07 4runner though.... My sister in-law has one of these Jetta that she just bought and the Head Gasket Blew on her not even 3 months after buying the car.... Looks like it will cost her a arm and a leg to fix... Lol i am not even going to try to do this for here looks like about 3hours of straight work!

  • @inbloom97 Actually, it took us a day and half. About 10 or 12 hours total, including breaks and all.

  • I love VW, I have an Audi, but that intake system is retarded. I never lived it compared to there other engines. Oh well, no one is perfect. You guys make good videos keep it up.

  • Great video. I would only add one thing. Make sure you have the head machined flat while it is removed. If you disassemble down to the valves and springs, they will only hit you for about 40 bucks. The smallest imperfection in those mating surfaces can cause problems down the road. The VW torque specs should have worked fine provided the head was flat; at least it did the last one I did.

  • sisacole32: It is a 10mm 6-point polydrive VW & Audi Head Bolt Tool. Our is from Mac Tools, Part No. SC-175. A quick internet search should come up with it.

  • Actually, It is really easy to align the timing belt BUT ONLY IF you know exactly where to look and what to look for. Otherwise, it is tricky and eats up all your time. This happened to us, so we did another video once we figured out how easy it was. Do a youtube search on "How to Inspect and Replace the Timing Belt on a VW 2.0 L Engine" and you'll see the steps and locations needed.

  • @YeechBlitz - Thanks, I did change the t-belt back when my jetta hit 70K miles with my dad, but I don't remember checking the right side by the transmission as shown in your video. That's great to know. I remember watching my dad rotating it to TDC though. As mentioned, my 2000 jetta is at 155K miles now, so it may due very soon. Your videos are really helpful!!

  • Thanks dude for posting. This is a ton of help for when I need to replace the head gasket on my 2000 jetta with 155K miles. Did you have trouble putting the t-belt back in place to align properly? I would think that was a big challenge.

  • @stanzibritovsky We did a half of one for a civic. The video camera broke in the middle of the job, so the second half is missing. Do a google search on: youtube yeechblitz honda.
