  • It was really wonderful to see this, my parents belonged to this church and it brought wonderful memories back .

  • I miss this. I wish there were more videoes on here like this. In English everything. Oh well, very very beautiful.

  • very good.

  • ACROD icons seem to be very westernized... is this because they were "Byzantine Catholics" before?

  • No, it's because the church was built during a time when nearly all Orthodox were using Western-style icons.

  • This style of iconography was poplarized in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries.. For example, see the rebuilt Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow, built in the 1990's to replicate the style of the original, destroyed by the Soviets. Likewise, many of the great Orthodox churches of St. Petersburg are in a similar style as were Greek Catholic churches of the period in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine which were endowed by the Hapsburgs.

  • sunt ortodoxa.

    orthodox forever.

  • ..CHRIST IS RISEN!!!...

  • Beautiful. †

  • Very nice prostopinije. Brings back memories of my first introduction to the Eastern Church at a Byzantine Ruthenian Catholic parish where I enjoyed the beautiful prostopinije melodies. I am now in an OCA mission parish which uses Russian obikhod (which I greatly enjoy as well), but I will always have a special place for Carpatho-Rusyn prostopinije. Thanks for sharing!

  • same here. I treasure my time in the Greek Catholic Church (Rusyn) at Holy Angels Parish in San Diego, Calif from age 21-36 (when I became Orthodox) and the lovely prostopinije
