Brought back memories. I was the first supervisor of Pionneer Playground (red neckerchief instead of yellow). Remembering the staff events we held after the park closed, testing the bucking bronco and rowing out to the island at close of play to turn off the smoke machine. There was also someone who played the role of a red indian who enjoyed trying to scalp me whenever he saw me.
Man, I miss this place. It may not have been Disneyland, but I used to love to go there when I got homesick. The shows were great. And the combo of the log flume, rapid ride, mine train and missle was great. When they added motion master, it got even better. To think I will never be able to take my kids there. They would have loved it.
I am in the U.S. and my question is this - Why would you want to "Have" an American Adventure amusement park? I see the same demise of parks here in the U.S. too. Maybe I am just thinking it seems odd to build a park just to be called American on UK soil. I dont think I have heard of a park in the U.S. called the "UK Experience." It is so sad to see any park go to ruins, this park looked huge! I think more parks will close because of the Internet, CD games, and the lack of "Adventure"
It was set in the Indian/cowboy days. It was an old western American theme. It wasn't that big of a theme park but it was a good day out with some big rides. It shut due to lack of profit when they closed all the big rides and replaced them with baby things. Never picked up again. RIP American Adventure. Lived close by so spent many a day there.
Im sad its gone ppl i used to go every weekend n we dorve like 200 miles just 4 the log flume its so sad its gone i realy hope all the staff have been looked after the same way they looked my dad whos descabled
