  • whoa you look 15 years younger now. you lose another 20 pounds and you'll look younger than me lolz.

and you look pretty healthy we can expect more videos now huh?

  • i said vista was trying to be more like linux and i got called a troll before then windows 7 came out imo tiny bit more like linux but still no one agreed with me and now win8 is coming out and its enough like linux that im not gonna he considered crazy anymore

  • Played with Win 8 for about an hour and gave up in frustration. One of the worst things I have install. Vista got nothing on this one.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu It's not even a beta yet.

  • @JamesManes True. I really hope they are not planning on keeping some of the new stuff.

  • I can't stop myself from saying this. Forgive me.

irregardless means not regardless. Just say regardless. Anyplace that tells you differently is caving to the fact that so many people get it wrong.

  • hey art, yer looking healthy dude, i luh you nigga <3!

  • @sighwonder Fuck yeah! <3

  • 7 was so KDE that for the first bit of using it I kept opening the command prompt and using Linux commands...

  • how bout

    Windows Terminal Services

    or

    Remote Desktop Services

    or

    w w w. kde. org and w w w. tightvnc. com

    ?

In the old days for windows head less server one could load null keyboard and video drivers

  • Looking good man

  • I been using 8 on my acer laptop and the new GUI on top of the old desktop sucks with a stock touch pad or mouse. even multitasking is a pain.but it nice to see windows trying something different.

  • @MrMassivemanmeat To be honest with you. My respect for microsoft went from little to nothing after they decided to rip off Gnome 3. I mean, that's all they do all the time. Rip off, rip off and rip off. As the biggest computer company in the world they can at least Try to be original, but noooo. They stopped being original after Windows XP came out. Their new version of internet explorer is a firefox rip off, their new version of Paint is a GIMP rip off, but without all the good stuff of course

  • BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

  • I agree. I see where you are coming from but also what they are trying to accomplish here. They want linux to be more user friendly because they want it to go mainstream. What they don't realize is, that is already too late. It was too late from the day they decided to make linux so super open which again makes it less family friendly. It's too easy to break the system, there are too many bugs compared to windows and mac, there are WAY too many linux operating systems that they can mainstream.

  • @blackoutworm The only way Linux would succeed in the market is if it was a easy to use Distro that fucking works and they had good ads with the "we're better" and "you want us" marketing on the idiot box.

It would have to be one Distro/UI to rule them all for the most part, but if they really want, they can change it.

  • @commodore256 wow you must really hate linux:)

No but saying "we are better" is the dumbest thing you can do if you want to win people over.

You need to be way more constructive and convincing than that.

And advertising wouldn't work either because the vast majority of linux users prefer and almost demand free and open source. AND THAT SUCKS. No wonder linux only has only 5-7% of the market.

Most developers create software as a part of their job, and not for free and fun in their spare time.

  • @blackoutworm i know linux isnt better than a Macintosh pc or a windows pc..neither is a mac pc better than a windows pc or a Linux machine or a windows pc better than a linux or windows machine..it all comes down to what you want to do..how good your knowledge of what your doing is.. and what your computers specs are if you start someone off in life with a mac..theyll be knowledgeable of macs same with linux...same with windows..its all your choice

  • @313hummer so very true

  • @313hummer True. But windows doesn't have one single bug as far as I know, same with Mac. They are both easy for to understand. I started with windows 3.1 when I was 5, and knew almost everything I needed to know when I was around 7. Windows had a bunch of freezing bugs and shit back then. But not nearly as many bugs as Linux has. And that's all it comes down to. Windows and mac are literally bug/virus free now. I've used linux for 5 years, and still find it way less user friendly than Windows.

  • Point is. They focus on all the wrong things.

They should stop dreaming about free and open source. It slows down the developing progress, and they should stop making everything look and feel more like Windows.

Microsoft are successful because they are marketing their products, and they take money for their products which means more people will take it more seriously than the free solutions.

Linux wouldn't be so full of bugs if they turned it into an actual business rather than a hobby project.

  • @blackoutworm HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @blackoutworm: This is a joke...right?

  • @metalx1000 how is that a joke? What I was trying to say is that Windows doesn't require much learning skills compared to linux. And no, I haven't had any viruses nor spyware on windows 7 yet, if that's what you thought the joke was. Linux is better when it comes to speed. And I don't have to worry about any viruses or spyware at all. I do not have to read up on how to install stuff either, because of the very amazing software center. But that's as far as it goes in my opinion.

  • @blackoutworm: "windows doesn't have one single bug"? You should tell that to MS, because they have a bug reporting site with a list of bugs. All programs what any amount of complexity will have bugs. People who use windows and say they don't have any malware on their computer have no clue what is going on on their computer. In what way is Windows more user friendly then Linux? Is it really harder to point and click a mouse in Linux then it is in Windows?

  • @metalx1000 I know exactly what is going on in my computer. Windows is not some insecure OS. We are not using DOS anymore... Windows has many bugs but so does any OS. Just a head up so you don't hink I'm one of those idiots that claim shit like that.

  • @blackoutworm: If Windows is so much better then Linux, why have you been using it for the past 5 years. I thought what you wrote was a joke, because not one part of it made any sense. My mistake.

  • @blackoutworm when you update sp1 on seven once in a while you wont be able to change the background back unless you either get it looked at and get a new explorer.exe or reinstall windows..the start menu will freeze and flash once in a while ..mac osx will become unstable if you click the search button while minecraft is running...both are becoming very prone to viruses..every operating system has bugs..you just run into them at the worst times..and linux is buggy yes..but its improving greatly

  • @blackoutworm every time a new release comes out..and if ubuntu 11 isnt user friendly why is there a theme to make windows 7 look like it? ..you have to put in some codes if you want to do advanced things...so do you in windows...but if you use the software center its like installing apps on an iphone

  • @313hummer As I said, I love the software center.

Theme and look has nothing to do with user friendly. You can always get used to a new look and feel, but not bugs. It's user friendly when everything works out of the box and doesn't bug or crash. What ubuntu is focusing on is the design, and that is so wrong in my opinion. Fedora on the other hand Do understand what they need to focus on, and yet it's less friendly for a windows user, it's more stable way less buggier than Ubuntu.

  • @blackoutworm well ive givin a complete windows user (skateri) ubuntu 11.04 without training him at all..everything seems to work out of the box for him..and he figured out how to update his repositories just using google..hes not a computer expert like me..hes just a skater..he has barely any knowledge of pcs just video editing..and his channels pretty good..his is running it out of the box too..this stereo type that linux is full of bugs is like the stereo type windows gets viruses instantly

  • @blackoutworm but the whole thing is..everybody who comes over my house and goes on my computer always tell me "dude wtf is that, thats fucking cool" and every time i have to explain to them its linux..theres no issues with bugs man..the theme may fail once in a while..or some programs might crash..but that happens on windows too! thats just the downfall of every operating system! no matter what programs will crash on any platform..it doesnt matter! windows crashes..linux crashes..mac crashes

  • @blackoutworm and my friend you just click a button to install proprietary drivers my good friend Hazael4oh1 was trying to install drivers for his pc and he installed the wrong one and the whole thing almost went up in smoke...windows doesnt work out of the box either..linux mostly works out of the box..just have to install video driver..and mac doesnt work out of the box

  • @313hummer ... that was... a very ignorant comment.

  • @JamesManes it wasnt an ignorant comment..if you dont believe me make a startup usb drive and do it yourself..ive used linux for ...i dont even know how long since 2005 im guessing...it works out of the box...no need for drivers even because it comes with its own drivers if you have issues there are tons of help pages on line..i dont know what else to say? am i going to have to make a video proving it does?

  • @313hummer I've used Linux since 2007. I stil use it today. Guess what, it doesn't always "just work." You are full of crap sir. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T420i. This thing runs Ubuntu fine. Oh except I have to compile my Hard Drive Tilt Sensor drivers... and the Linux driver for my realtek wifi card does not support PEAP auth... and the distro hard freezes randomly... aaaand linux didn't have drivers for my kodak printer so i had to compile somewhat broken third party printers. Derp

  • @JamesManes now...i know you are really bsing me...you remember the R51? that was the first fucking time i ever installed linux on anything.. and its ethernet and wifi worked directly out of the fucking box..and i had no idea what the hell i was doing...and i know your completely full of shit...because that laptop has 4 gb of ram and an i3 processor...all the drivers are not there..but guess what? neither are they with windows..because my kodak 3200 worked right when i plugged it in? yea...

  • @JamesManes so what model was your printer? because ive never had a problem with printers and linux lol..windows yes..mac once in a while..linux no

  • @313hummer Kodak ESP 5250. I had to compile some 3rd party drivers this guy made. The printer kinda worked after that but would still screw up on occasions. I will let the printer thing go though, because printers in general have been shit since their creation. However the tilt sensor, random lockups (due to kernel problem) and lack of wifi encryption type support really pissed me off. I even ordered a new Intel wifi card because I knew it worked with linux.

  • @JamesManes did you go to the package manager and install printconf? because that could be one of the major problems with printers...and it was with my 3200..i looked it up on google and that was the thing that was stopping it from printing correctly..and if you had a problem with wifi card all you had to do is install ndisgtk to install windows wireless drivers ..there are a few cards that require you to install them from windows systems because they are proprietary..and you should try kernel 3

  • @313hummer Oh ok... So either A. Use windows. Or B. Configure system for ~40 minutes, compile new kernel, pray, compile drivers, pray, and still get inferior battery life. Hard choice isn't it. Lets get back to the base of the argument. Linux doesn't always "just work." I believe in my case it has been proven. I am knowledgeable person and could fix most of these issues (wireless one can not be fixed, printer one was partially fixed), but why? What is the benefit for using Linux?

  • @JamesManes guess what? you dont have to compile..theres precompiled kernels you just get from the repos..the benefits are..its much more flexible than windows..it can run for years without having to shut down...there is a free 5 gb cloud you can have from canonical when using linux..everything is free..we have our own version of ms office (libre office) ..we can run some windows games on our operating system..you can run linux on the fastest and slowest pc's..and run on tons of different..

  • @313hummer Why are you telling me this stuff? Open Office is not as good as MS Office IMO. Windows Live provides me 20GB of storage. Windows can run for years without reboots just like Linux. I don't care if I rent Windows to use. It is more functional for most of my needs so I pay for it. If Linux is so damn great and free at the same time why does no one use it? People are willing to fork out hundreds for OS X/Windows but Linux is still 1% of the market even though it is free.

  • @JamesManes linux is 5-7% of the market..which if you actually used linux you know what you said is completely ignorant..and im not gasping for straws..you just seem angry and all over the place right now..and what you said is true..but guess what..everybodys migrating their windows servers to linux because it is more secure..and our cloud is free..and functionality? it doesnt matter what your syncing you just sync it..i have jar and .exe's on mine..and you can sync any file..even the whole os

  • @JamesManes and im telling you it because you dont have a fucking clue what your talking about..or do you? i cant tell any more because everything your saying about the linux operating system is either outdated or completely wrong

  • @JamesManes architectures..it comes with most drivers..but there are some that you need to get off the package manager..there are many games for linux..linux servers are much more stable than windows servers..linux has many desktop environments where you could make your pc look like a mac or windows 7 vista xp or 2000...there are no licensing issues..when i used windows i had to reactivate it everytime i reinstalled on a new pc..and i used the same product code about 4 times...and they..

  • @JamesManes told me that they thought i was distributing it so i was interrogated over the phone by some random person who kept asking me what i was doing with the software..thats what really made me move to linux..also when you have linux its yours not whoever distributed it to you..as microsoft likes to say..even though you bought it..its still theirs..their just letting you use it..i think i left a couple things out but i made my point

  • @JamesManes oh yea..and i dont have to update all my programs one at a time..i do it all at once..and yes configure it for 40 minutes...or spend 3 hours installing all the service packs and drivers on windows..we dont have service packs..we have updates..and they dont take months to get released

  • @313hummer Windows has updates too. Service packs are just cumulative checkpoints for updates. Don't be silly about updating applications. We both know that windows apps will alert you when an update is available. Sometimes it is a pain to install drivers on Windows, but the drivers always exist. In Linux if it doesn't work out of the box there is a good chance it doesn't work at all.

  • @JamesManes lol no..service packs are the major ones...i know..im not stupid..its security updates..we get security updates every 2 weeks or so..and thats a stereo type..if you have the right architecture then it will work out of the box..saying that is like saying oh if you use windows your going to instantly get a virus "but i didnt even download anything" doesnt matter your still gonna get a virus some how..its just not the truth..and that shows that your kind of ignorant

  • @313hummer .... so you are saying Linux always works out of the box if you pick hardware that supports Linux? No kidding? Jee that was such a great observation. You said Linux always works right out of the box. It doesn't. I don't see where you are going with this argument other than grasping for straws.

  • @JamesManes and guess what? windows doesnt work out of the fucking box with anything ..oh im sorry..it does..processors work out of the box..and hard disks and your cd drive (most of the time) but lets plug in my usb drive after a fresh install..oh wait?! i have to install my usb driver..oh snap thats strange..because i can run my linux usb drive and surf the web without a problem and use my hard ware and usb sticks..without issues..off of a usb linux boot

  • @313hummer That's not the argument. We weren't talk about Windows working out of the box we were talking about Linux. Stop changing the subject and grasping for straws.

  • @JamesManes ok 90% of the time linux works out of the box windows works out of the box 0% happy?

  • @313hummer Those statistics are made up and completely innacurate considering Windows 7 has many drivers built in for tons of hardware. But ok.

  • @JamesManes well so does linux but you seem to ignore those? i use windows 7 too..its not that great lol..and it doesnt work right out of the box..trust me...on my vaio vgn nw270 almost nothing worked out of the box..with windows..or linux..so it all comes down to your hardware

  • @313hummer I use both Ubuntu and Windows 7.

  • @JamesManes i use ubuntu on my secondary laptop..elementary os on my main pc..windows 7 on my secondary desktop upstairs..and xp on my craptop

  • @313hummer install dsl or puppy linux and your craptop will be more of a laptop

  • @joejc07 yea im going to but im more focused on my main pcs until i need it

  • @JamesManes because it has many improvements with things like the tilt sensor, thermal diode configuration, and things like that

  • @blackoutworm I don't mean better in every way, I mean a practical thing that that modular package solution does better or has to offer. I wanna see middle finger marketing that actually challenges the big players with better service and features.

The reason why linux never caught on is not because of a License, It's because of marketing. The reason why Apple got popular is because of marketing, If Canonical had Apple's marketing Department, linux marketshare would go to 60% over 5 years.

  • @commodore256 yea no duh. That's what I've been saying all the time.

I mean just look at android. They use linux, but that doesn't make linux more popular or known amongst people. And that's why I'm against free and open source. They will never be able to "sell" their product if they continue like this. The linux people simply HAVE TO stop dreaming about free and open all the time, as I said in one of my other comments here. They need to turn ubuntu into a closed source business like Apple.

  • @blackoutworm They don't have to be closed like apple.

There is no rule that you have to be 100% closed 100% of the time. You can have the best of both worlds :)

I like the ID Software model where they have a community of Indie/FOSS Developers, but at the same time, they have serious business relationships with people that have to wrap it in DRM to sell to popular ecosystems that require it. (xbox live/app store)

That's the magic of the LGPL. (God I sound like a hypocritical freetard, lol)

  • @commodore256 I'm not talking about a rule. I'm talking logic sense.

When everything is open, people can and will contently create their own distros, and the more distros on the market, the less competition and more confusion amongst the costumer. This will again take ubuntu out of business and make everything look stupid and not very serious.

Very few developers are willing to support and stick up for a company that doesn't involve money. Who's gonna pay them for all their hard work?

  • @blackoutworm CENTOS didn't make Red Hat go out of business.

  • @commodore256 microsoft is adopting LGPL

  • NT without a need for a GUI is awesome!

Finally, they're making a proper server Class OS

NT was kinda server class before, but a machine should modular and take out the pieces you don't need without breaking it.

  • @commodore256 NT was NEVER awesome. its awefull.

  • @axel1973w What's wrong with NT?

  • Am I wrong or did you lose weight?

  • @UbuntuHelpGuy Down 46 lbs. YEAH!!!

  • @arthursucks how did you drop the lb? I have a back injury over past 3 years i have been putting on the extra lb, i cant walk very well any more and i cant lift more then 20 lb,i went on a low calorie diet for a few weeks and the next thing i know my hair started to fall out,,lol my work mens comp doc is no help,if you got any tip's love to hear about it.
