THe baffle is indeed in a groove; however, it can be cut out flush with a reproc saw and the rough edges sanded flush. Then a mounting rail can be installed around the edges ( like in regular speaker cabinet) of the cabinet - then a new baffle can be cut and screwed to the new mounting rails.
This side of the cabinet does not come out, It is glued in to a groove and you would have to take the entire cabinet apart, even then since it is glued you would end up destroying the cabinet.We often replace the other side which is removable. Does this help your question out?
