I'm Iranian. For those of you who are not familiar with this song, it's a Magyar (Hungarian) song called "Monti Csárdás" (pronounced Chardash). If you search for those words in youtube, you'll find some amazing vocals originals as well, but Shadmehr plays the best quality violin version of it I've heard. There are some Eastern European violin masters who do an amazing job as well.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately we(iranians)have the poorest technique in the whole world.I really wish we would be strong technically.if we were, we would be the best in the world, but unfortunately we are not even close to "good" when we are in the professional world (I am just talking about classical music since I am a grad student in violin performances).I don't know much about traditional music so I don't talk about it.This guy plays just "OK" and this music is very easy

yes, I was talking about the violin. And as a piano player, I have heard that Iranian pianists are in better shape comparing to the violin players in Iran.I know a very good pianist friend who was a graduate student here.But he always said that the level is very high here and no one would even care about his playing,so he decided to go to Iran because people would give him lots of credit and would simply hire him as university prof.

So, this is the situation for the most common and popular instruments in Iran. Now, think about other instruments that are not as popular. But again, I don't know much about the level of those other instruments so I won't make any comment.
