With a taped finger, wait till Kobe come back this year with a fixed knee, a healed finger, and ESPN ranking him #7 for motivation. If Bynum is an All-star then the Lakers will have 2 star Big Men and Fisher and Kobe and Mike Brown who loves to call isolations= another Back-Back championship
mike is shit he did nothin for the cavs. the reason why the cavs did so well was cuz Lebron was there and when James left the cavs were the worst team in the nba and mike couldnt do anything cuz hes an over-rated coach....smh shouldnt of got coach of the year
@RaymondvRaymond24 Mike Brown gets undeserved hate given what he did with the Cavaliers. Got Cleveland to a top 5 defensive team in three years. Best regular-season record in the league and close to it for three straight years. Got to the Eastern conference finals and the NBA finals with Lebron and a bag of chips. The only reason why the Cavs lost in the Finals was because they had the unfortunate fate of having to play against a veteran, well-oiled Spurs team.
So I very much think Mike Brown can do some damage here in LA given that he has an even better team to work with than he did in Cleveland. Who knows? Maybe if Dan Gilbert wasn't such an idiot, both him and LEbron would still be in Cleveland because he'd have put real pieces around Lebron and not a bunch of token effort players.
@RaymondvRaymond24 You tell me. I get what you're saying, without Lebron they wouldn't have made the Finals but on the other hand, without Mike Brown's coaching they wouldn't have either. And saying the Cavs went nowhere after Lebron left doesn't really mean much since the entire team was built around him. That'd be like taking Jordan and/or Pippen off the Bulls or Magic and Kareem off the Lakers. It becomes a completely different team, not to mention we all know--->
@alekesam Lebron was the only A-level player on that Cavs team. So yeah, Lebron's talent made it work, but Mike's coaching maximized the team's collective talent. Otherwise, under a lesser coach, Lebron would've been like Jordan was pre-Phil, racking up stats and getting bounced in the first round or not making the playoffs at all. So I'm not neglecting Lebron's talent but I'm not neglecting Mike's hand in the team's successes either.
@RaymondvRaymond24 Btw, I didn't because it was the continuation of the first part of the post. But regarding basketball and staying on topic, Lebron didn't even make the playoffs for two years until Mike became the coach in the 2005-06 season. After that, their regular season record was 50-32,45-37,66-16 and 61-21 (those last two years they were ranked at the top or near it defensively). Just out of curiosity, is it just Mike Brown or do you have little regard for-->
@alekesam lol james was still gettin use to the nba 03-05 and in 06 was james breakout year, gettin like 25+ so of course there goin to make it in the playoffs with him doin so well and after that the front office just keep adding good players to help james and thats why the cavs did so well. The cavs had some really good players james, shaq, wallace, williams, west, big z, jamison, anderson... list goes on and on. and brown help with some stuff but i think hes just overrated
@RaymondvRaymond24 Okay, then give me an example of a coach that's not overrated in your opinion so I have some sort of frame of reference for what you're thinking. Phil Jackson, Greg Popovich, Pat Riley and Rudy Tomjonovich are overated by your logic since all four won multiple championships with stellar talent. I'd argue that compared to Brown, they had it easy. Also, did you really count injured on his way to retirement Shaq as a relevant player on the Cavs?--->
-->Jamison, Varejo, Williams, West, and even Big Z are all servicable to good players but nothing to really write home about. But besides that, you can have all the talent in the world yet if you're coached by an idiot, you're not going to go very far (read: Del Harris w/ 1995-98 Lakers, Mike Dunleavy with a loaded Portland team in 02), Rick Adelman with the Kings, etc.) Not to mention outside of Larry Brown in 04, what coach has won multiple titles with little to no talent?
@RaymondvRaymond24 1. Not my point. Shaq wasn't SHAQ.lol. Twilight of his career Shaq is a helluva lot different than Motivated Unstoppable Laker/Miami Shaq. But somehow I think you know this already. 2. I don't know. I surely wasn't saying Phil is overated (and you didn't answer my question about what coach you find favorable). 3. What does that even mean? 4. In reletion to teams that usually make it to the Finals? Yes. They were a good team, meaning all the various->
-> pieces combined for one solid unit but there was no breakout all-star on that team. That's what I mean (and saying that Pistons team had little to no talent was wrong, I admit that...I was trying to say that they didn't have a lot of all-stars or a big standout like a MJ/Lebron/Kobe/Shaq/Tim Duncan/etc). And I still say the Lakers gave away that series more than Detroit took it.

@alekesam 5. knicks, heat, okc, lakers one of those teams are goin to win it this year and you know why? no not cuz of there coach. because those teams have the BEST most TALENT basketball players in the world.
@RaymondvRaymond24 6. Yeah, we are done here. You don't think much of coaching, which if you had just said that in the first place, I wouldn't have even bothered.
I know this team i've been a fan for a while, two weeks into next season Kobe will be absolutely pissed off at this guy, talks a lot of garbage, has no authority at all. team wont play D, bench will suck ass big time. it's really hard to keep those fuckers motivated, they are out of focus most of the time. I dont think this guy can fill Phil's shoes
@NoMercyDB exactly what i have been saying... kobe is a great play no doubt but he does have a big ego that needs to be contained and phil was able to do it which got him 5 rings with the lakers... phil also happened to be a hard ass. never stood up in a game just sat and basically just made the players focus cause thats when there at there best.. but mike brown seems to nice(nothing and i mean absolutly nothing wrong with that)
I think he will do good i mean he had the best record in the nba with only 1 good player lebron but we have the whole starting 5 plus steve blake and shannon brown so yea u cant just hate on him just because ur mad that phil has retired he has won 5 championships as a coach he should do good with the lakers. Look mike brown up before u start hating.
@Crsal126 also the lakers has a very good bench and if they get rid of that no chance... lakers still got it just needs a coach that could make them fucking focus... and not just stand there when a player drives
@xk1llaseasonx yea but he was an assistant...but yea he might of pick up some pointers from Gregg Popovich...or maybe he"ll look at some films from phil jackson's coaching
@carlosjtown no but he lead a crappy team to the finals. srsly, you dont have to win a championship to be considered a great coach. look at jerry sloan. mike brown is a great coach, period
If the coach matters, lakers should not have been swept by Mavs. Phil Jackson is a great coach, but he couldn't win the series without the players. Likewise, players have to be coachable in order to win. Now, Coach brown had the best record in 2008/2009 - he went to the finals though he didn't win championship. Maybe, if given an opportunity, and if he has the right team, his opportunity to lead lakers to another championship is here. Welcome coach Brown to LA and good luck. Go lakers.
He coached lebron and 11 also-rans, 1 finals appearance, playoffs every year and they played damn good D under him...with the lakers getting COMPLETELY DESTROYED by 36 I think its a good hire..the triangle isn't the prob, it was no D
no surprise he's the new head coach as the lakers, he's a good head coach and will be a contender for the finals. and now they need to resign shaw as a assistant and need to refresh the bench
Lets see here....in 1981 the lakers fired Paul Westhead as coach....Who did they get??? A guy who never coached before, was a former Laker in the 70's and was working as a broadcaster after retirement..... His name was Pat Riley!!! If any of you were in LA at that time the same outrage came from Laker Nation....4 championchips later under Pat as head coach.....................Give Brown a chance.....He has better talent here in LA!!
exciting and curious on what he will do for the lakers next season!! i want to hear another talk about breaking news that dwight howard will go to the lakers or dwight howard and chris paul to the lakers!!
just stop hatin on mike brown guys..let's just wait and see if mike is really the man for the job..and of course, they didn't give him that much money since the buss family are anticipating a lockout..
Why did he got fire by Cleveland? Because he can't win with Lebron & Shaq. There was some questionable play calling from Brown in those previous playoff game lost, if anyone remember. Bad move by Jim Buss...
people keep complaining about him becoming coach. give the man a chance. theres nothing you can do about it, what are you gna do, stop watching the lakers because this guy's coaching? if so, good, we need more bandwagoners to hop off.
we need players, i can give a damn about coaching, i was watching game 7 vs boston right now, we had guys like sasha and farmar playing in the 4th, this year scrubs like barnes and blake were playing. The lakers were a lights out defensive team vs boston. did not even give up 80 points in game 6 or 7. This is a players league. Spolestra is not that good of a coach, he is corney. But he has players.
Im still asking myself this....WHY THE FUCK
