@RaymondvRaymond24 Mike Brown gets undeserved hate given what he did with the Cavaliers. Got Cleveland to a top 5 defensive team in three years. Best regular-season record in the league and close to it for three straight years. Got to the Eastern conference finals and the NBA finals with Lebron and a bag of chips. The only reason why the Cavs lost in the Finals was because they had the unfortunate fate of having to play against a veteran, well-oiled Spurs team.

So I very much think Mike Brown can do some damage here in LA given that he has an even better team to work with than he did in Cleveland. Who knows? Maybe if Dan Gilbert wasn't such an idiot, both him and LEbron would still be in Cleveland because he'd have put real pieces around Lebron and not a bunch of token effort players.

And saying the Cavs went nowhere after Lebron left doesn't really mean much since the entire team was built around him. That'd be like taking Jordan and/or Pippen off the Bulls or Magic and Kareem off the Lakers. It becomes a completely different team, not to mention we all know--->

@alekesam Lebron was the only A-level player on that Cavs team. So yeah, Lebron's talent made it work, but Mike's coaching maximized the team's collective talent. Otherwise, under a lesser coach, Lebron would've been like Jordan was pre-Phil, racking up stats and getting bounced in the first round or not making the playoffs at all. So I'm not neglecting Lebron's talent but I'm not neglecting Mike's hand in the team's successes either.

But regarding basketball and staying on topic, Lebron didn't even make the playoffs for two years until Mike became the coach in the 2005-06 season. After that, their regular season record was 50-32,45-37,66-16 and 61-21 (those last two years they were ranked at the top or near it defensively). Just out of curiosity, is it just Mike Brown or do you have little regard for-->

@alekesam lol james was still gettin use to the nba 03-05 and in 06 was james breakout year, gettin like 25+ so of course there goin to make it in the playoffs with him doin so well and after that the front office just keep adding good players to help james and thats why the cavs did so well. The cavs had some really good players james, shaq, wallace, williams, west, big z, jamison, anderson... list goes on and on. and brown help with some stuff but i think hes just overrated

I'd argue that compared to Brown, they had it easy. Also, did you really count injured on his way to retirement Shaq as a relevant player on the Cavs?--->

@NoMercyDB exactly what i have been saying... kobe is a great play no doubt but he does have a big ego that needs to be contained and phil was able to do it which got him 5 rings with the lakers... phil also happened to be a hard ass. never stood up in a game just sat and basically just made the players focus cause thats when there at there best.. but mike brown seems to nice(nothing and i mean absolutly nothing wrong with that)

If the coach matters, lakers should not have been swept by Mavs. Phil Jackson is a great coach, but he couldn't win the series without the players. Likewise, players have to be coachable in order to win. Now, Coach brown had the best record in 2008/2009 - he went to the finals though he didn't win championship. Maybe, if given an opportunity, and if he has the right team, his opportunity to lead lakers to another championship is here. Welcome coach Brown to LA and good luck. Go lakers.

we need players, i can give a damn about coaching, i was watching game 7 vs boston right now, we had guys like sasha and farmar playing in the 4th, this year scrubs like barnes and blake were playing. The lakers were a lights out defensive team vs boston. did not even give up 80 points in game 6 or 7. This is a players league. Spolestra is not that good of a coach, he is corney. But he has players.
