  • I think it's pronounced P T V

  • @kolopox No problem :) if you or anyone needs any help with ubuntu check out my tech support blog gnometechblog(dot)weebly(dot)com

  • can not wait to wait for the next release of Ubuntu 4.12 LTS: D

  • @kolopox - Ubuntu is totally free OS and its secured, every programs that it uses is free open source:) really really good for business purposes!!!

  • @marasming Thank you...

  • what screen recorder?

  • oo-bun-too? its actually oo-boon-too

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can I use Ubuntu for business purposes as a free software???

  • @kolopox Ubuntu is free.

  • @97SmithAgent And is open office free as well???Or do I have to buy some license for using it for my personal business???

Thank you very much for you previous answer:-))...cheers;-)

  • @kolopox OpenOffice is free. Google it.

  • @kolopox Ubuntu is free along with most of the software used on it.

  • @DH1234561 Thank you:-)

  • I got a quad boot with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Ubuntu 12.04, Windows 8, and Windows 7.

  • @HeadfirstLuke good luck with not messwing anything up :o

  • @Radifox What is that supposed to mean?

  • Comment removed

  • I use this on my old pentium 4, idles at only 100mb ram. Really efficient. On my AMD Phenom I use 11.10 Unity. But Lucid runs so much better. For now.

  • i'm using 10.04 since it's release in april -10 and will do so until support ends, OR maybe install the next 12.04 LTS version in april next year

Linux just runs.....sometimes for weeks, even without rebooting.....

  • @Nintrevor LOL, if you are using Windows Vista or 7 there are 20+ programs running in the background spying on you and sending your personal info to Microsoft and the NSA. Your logic is deeply flawed.

  • One of the best releases. :)

I'm using it without any problems. It's my favorite!

The newer ones just too slow for me.

Usually the LTS versions are the best.

  • @Zegrento7 12.04 will be LTS yay :P

  • @zikalify +5 years of support, very nice! As well, a much more mature version of Unity so definitely exciting.

I recall that Ubuntu 8.04 - 1.5 years after it's release - didn't look as visually appealing as 10.04 does today. Lucid doesn't look old at all.

  • @Zegrento7 Yep. I just downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS!

  • 11 people loves to pay for Windows.

  • @GlasKoudeCola Yup.

  • How did you get the fairly same boot up time in Windows 7 and Ubuntu in the same PC? My Windows 7 normally boot up 3 times slower than Ubuntu.

  • What's with the numbering scheme for Ubuntu? Why 10.04, 10.10, 11.04, 11.10, etcetera? What's with the decimal places and why 4 and 10? LoL are we gonna have crap like Ubuntu 567.10 generations into the future? Doesn't have a nice ring doesn't it.

  • @Nathan173AB it's based on the release date

    a new ubuntu is released every 6 months and the .04 and .10 represent the month it's released (04-March, 10=October); since a newe ubuntu is released every 6 months, the same months repeat every year so the numbers keep repeating too;

  • @demoniccurses9 Thanks, that makes a lot more sense now.

  • @Nathan173AB the release dates are always april (4) of the year, like 2010 (10), or october (10) in 2011 (11)

  • @3321ipod

    Damnit. :C

  • I just saw one or the computers running Ubuntu. It is Dell, I found it at computer store!

  • can you make ubuntu 11 video?

  • LOL...sharing your browsing habits with google? Here's a REALITY check..if you're trying to keep your privacy while online, IT DOESNT MAKE A FUCK WHAT BROWSER YOU USE. The government's hardware and software technologies at their disposal IS ALWAYS YEARS AHEAD OF US,THE TAX PAYER. ANYtime the government wants to know what you've looked at online..NO browser can stop that. Not even Open source browsers like chromium vs chrome. IE9's stability & performance vs chrome SUX on youtube. the end

  • @chronofusion isnt that invasion of privacy? if they DO search its to look for terrorists.

  • @mrpwnedish Do you actually BELIEVE the government searches for REAL terrorists? What the usa gov views as terrorist is anyone against their military industrial complex ideals, against their 4th reich regime-nwo rules that they created to replace everyone's religions with. want proof? simple. look up U.s. supreme court judge Stephen David in Indiana usa may 2011 concerning a ruling that cops are NO LONGER REQUIRD to have a judge-signed search warrant to enter a person's home AT ANY TIMe.(cont)

  • @mrpwnedish (concluded) that =AGAINST the 4th admendment to the usa constitution which deals with protecting the CITIZENS against unlawful searches and seizures. 1st amendment deals with freedom of speech. as far as online chatting goes it is a tricky way to judge it & decide whether or not a person is crossing the line of 1st amendment vs being hateful to the point of obviously provoking physical problems. the gov WILL ALWAYS have higher technology than the citizens they are supposed to serve

  • @yeAhz09 I dont blame you much for your frustration in learning/adapting to the Ubuntu o.s. * giving your "punched in the sack by a woman..stay #@$# away" comment. It DEFINITELY has a decent learning curve..for me 2 years ago it was more like a 10 foot tall learning CURB that i keep blowing out my tires from accidentally running into it.lol. I'm still experimenting with 10.04 x64 version. trying to get starcraft 2 to run at full graphical settings with Wine. not there yet.gtx580 also. cheers

  • @shazzbot007 and NO IE is not included with Ubuntu nor is it compatible. and that's a good thing..TRUST me. and yes..Firefox, chromium are both ferrari's on that o.s. of course there are more than 5 others that are pretty good to that if you've never tried nor read about Ubuntu you probably won't have heard of them. cheers.

  • @Nintrevor except shitty IE. :D and that's a great thing hell even IE9 has been crashing with youtube video viewing nonstop all last week on my custom built machine..I switched back to Chromium 12.0. no problems since.

  • @Worfox1 LOL..im sorry us REALISTIC and EXPERIENCED human beings can't understand your Pluto language " trollface" WOW WHAT A CUTDOWN! holly shitballs. I GOTTA PACK MY BAGS FOR THIS SHIT! lol. Kid i've custom build more than 40 gaming computers since 2001. i've used every IE since 4.0, Every firefox since 3.0, Every Safari since 3.0, Chrome since version 5.0, Chromium 12.0 * recent*. ie8 doesn't have shit on firefox, nor safari, and especially not chrome or chromium. wake up kid.

  • I want one :)

  • i have it installed right now, but i only gave it 4 gigs of space and didn't know exactly what that was, i need to give it more space, how do i do this? please respond

  • @IAMDISAPP0INT i would just delete the partition, and make a new one around 32gb. I messed up mine so I have like a 30gb ubuntu partition, then like four 1 gb random partitions, and I'm not sure which of the small ones are okay to delete lol. but just reinstall and you'll be fine.

  • I pushed "Try Ubuntu",

and it asked me to log in, with a user name and a password.

    What username and password?

  • @tigerlovesrupert im sorry incase someone has already answered your question about " what username and password in logging into ubuntu" but just making sure to try. The information you typed in during the install wizard when you first installed ubuntu. It REQUIRES * yes i agree that sucks* a user name AND password. (shruggs shoulders).

  • someone respond to this comment ive never doe this sorta thing i just got a few questions

1.Will this work with windows xp

2.im quite a gamer so if i install this will i still have all my programs

  • Epic Fail.

  • Ubuntu is kind of cool i m soon gona download it.

  • to the gaming people, if you are a hardcore windows gamer the full drive install is not for you, dual boot. if you like playing older games like dos, snes, nes, GBA, ect. then you can use this as your primary OS, trust me i switched all of my computers to linux, after i got pissed off at windows randomly shutting down and giving me basic app error messages. but Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is a great OS

  • i'm sold

  • if you have 2 OS are all your files linked between the 2 OS?

  • @MrLe0x yes. and if it can't play a game you can try to use wine (a program that lets you run windows apps on ubuntu) to play it if it is not a steam game. ubuntu can't play any steam games.

  • Hey! I have that version too.

  • Thank You!! Finally a man with a fine brain.

  • ubuntu is great.. i like it.

  • HEYY! Ubuntu looks like blackmac with button icons!

  • My laptop came preloaded with windows Vista Business, i first had Xubuntu, then i wiped the drive and installed Debian, after fouling up a working Debian (5.0) Lenny. system and the original equipment manufacturer 250gb hard drive with a after market 500gb sata hard drive. I than reinstalled Xubuntu with the kubuntu-desktop package,

  • windows 7 or ubuntu which is better

  • @ajazaad ok:) thx

  • Hey PCWizKid,

if i use Ubuntu, how to format the Local Disk without losing Ubuntu OS?

  • @CrossFireStarsMoon Yeah, answer that PCWizkid. On the meantime I can tell you that you can use the great stand-alone Gparted CD, it is a very light utility that makes wonders. It is very boring to wait for the whole Ubuntu live CD to load every time. Gparted makes it easy for you.

  • @VictorHugo289mex you can tell me what is that software?

  • Are you shure that the system requerments are does couse in the site ses it hase to be atleast 1 gb of ram

  • Is Ubuntu faster than The Flash?

  • Qustion: If you save a file in OpenOffice, can you open/read/change it in Microsoft Word (vice versa)

  • @any5dollarfootlong I have several OpenOffice files that Microsft Word 2007 hasn't been able to open yet, even with all the updates and everything. Updates were supposed to give improved support for Open Office files, but I don't see that yet.

  • 8 of Bill Gate's employees watched the video... and disliked it

  • i love this OS and i'm never going back to windows ever! :D

  • If you have office installed on windows will i be able to get it for ubuntu?(i am duel booting). do i have to reinstall or buy another copy

  • @cakelover33 Microsoft Office will not work, but it has a free alternative built in called "OpenOffice." Basically like Office 2003

  • I installed Ubuntu 10.04 can some one give me instructions How to set up my cable internet on here?

  • Can ubuntu run itunes?

  • @alf0004 No, but you can download Songbird, in which you can sync your ipod.

  • Ubuntu 10.04 or Fedora 13? Plz suggest!

  • @crosswordpark Ubuntu 10.04

  • Pirate! Windows 7 Loader! xD

  • nice screen recorder lol ;)

  • UBUNTU ROCKS!!!!

  • can you give me the link to this?

  • is it just me or is Ubuntu starting to look more and more like OSX? Not that that is bad, just Linux used to always look so boring and plain. Now atleast Ubuntu is getting there.

  • can .exe working with ubuntu ??

  • @evdekisesegel Yes, the most works fine with the last version of wine for free.

Then for a better quality and compatibility (+ professional support) you can buy another software for using your windows applications.

  • Can you make a video how to uninstall Ubuntu from windows if you dont have your windows cd?

  • wow what a name for site ... but thanks for info !!!

  • Thanks for reviewing/installation process of the newest release of Ubuntu. I've always been interested in Ubuntu on how they work etc. Thanks ;)

  • 10.04 is awesome! what an improvement over 9.10. it is really fast. IMO one thing i dislike is how themes are basically a pain to install. oh well, Ubuntu FTW!

  • you didnt have ubuntu already on your pc???

  • Couldn't you have just went into the update manager and clicked the upgrade button rather than replacing?

  • this doesn't look as nice as Windows or Mac. looks plain and dull.

  • will ubuntu allow me to run my winmugen? cuz i dnt want linuxmugen

  • did you download the desktop version?

  • The Menu-bar looks really like the one on Mac...

  • i just got ubuntu linux 10.04 really cool better than windows and more FUN

  • Ok, so all I have to do in order to have both windows and ubuntu installed is install ubuntu from a CD, and choose the feature "Install them side by side"?

Because Ubuntu looks awesome, but I want to keep XP as well, please respond!

  • @Numb3rNinee Yep

  • @Numb3rNinee Yes! Google Dual Boot Windows Ubuntu for detailed instructions, the ones from the ubuntu official sites are the best.

  • the purple reminds me of another os.... Mac OS X Leopard maybe?

  • Great video men, thanks for the tips!!!!!!!

  • I have never had luck installing Ubuntu alongside Windows XP. Over time one of them becomes corrupted and will not boot. Is this version correcting that?

  • Ubuntu is great! I installed 8.04 on a family computer a couple years ago and everyone in the house loves it :)

  • Nice review

  • I'm actually watching this vid on Ubuntu 10.04 ....I'm running it within windows. It's really good. No issues with music and videos , unlike older versions which were notoriously flakey.

  • thank u... but im having truble intalling ubuntu.. 1. burned it into a cd, booted from it cd, and clicked install. but its not detecting my windows 7 already on the hard disk. so i cant install it along side my win 7. so i tried wubi. it did half the stuff. rebooted, booted into ubuntu n continued installation. then it stopped saying no root file in partition or something. !!! help me ... i just googled this.. lot of ppl r hvng same issues, but nobody has answers...

  • @jonze55 Humm, looks like you are going to need the GParted CD to boot up with and correct the partition problems you have. A wubi install of Ubuntu creates a small hidden area for Ubuntu, this area seems to be the issue with your install.

  • @PCWizKid do i loose my files or programs if i get ubuntu ?

  • @nollz69 not if you dual boot- with WUBI installer (for windows) or separate partition

  • @nollz69 if you run it via "WUBI" - installing it "within" windows and can be removed anytime - you wont lose any file.

  • @tjvistan85waver I wanna replace windows with it

  • @nollz69 Just insert the CD, restart your computer, it'll show up, and you could either delete windows and use this instead, or you could put it alongside with windows.

  • @PCWizKid hey pcwizkid can you review linuxmint 10 please

  • Comment removed

  • @jonze55

I used the USB installer, did the step by step from their web site and it worked.

  • I was wondering if the only way to "try" ubuntu (without installing) is with the cd version?

  • @jjchucho Yes, when you boot from the Ubuntu CD you have an option to TRY Ubuntu without installing it. Also you can install Ubuntu as an application within windows using the CD, there is an option called WUBI

  • @jjchucho You can setup a LiveUSB so you can boot up Ubuntu from your USB flash drive :)

  • Did you make this video in Ubuntu?

  • @meekoman25 I recorded and did screen captures in Ubuntu, but not edit the video.

  • @PCWizKid What software did you use ?

  • hey i have a question..........

if I install it parallel with xp service pack 2 do I need to install drivers I already have in xp sp2, for exapmle printer driver or other drivers, or it will work witout installing them????!!!!!!!!!!

  • @16Sabon it should work, ubuntu is pretty good at finding your driver's, and I have alot of hardware driver's on my Desktop PC....ie Wireless Network card, Card Reader's, dual Hard Drives, HDDVD, HP Printer, I didn't have to configure anything....but I did have to activate the driver for my Nvidia card....that's about it....my laptop was a little more difficult I had to configure the wireless.....

  • Can you install Microsoft Office into Ubuntu? Or does it not allow you to do that and you are required to use Open Office?

  • @PikachuownPichu I'm pretty much sure that OpenOffice is really the alternative for MicrosoftOffice ;)

  • @PikachuownPichu You can run Microsoft Office via WINE if you wish, but at the moment there is version of MS Office that will run native on Linux distributions.

  • i hav been using ubuntu for 10days i know all the compiz functions but the problem is ubuntu doesnt recognize my Intel 950 GMA graphics card !!!! plz help

  • is there a way to install msn messenger on ubuntu?

  • i liked it, but i'm gonna wait till 10.10 to update

  • Cool video. Thanks.

  • Windows is Better!

  • @Joseph9536 Why Windows is Better?

  • @tedbanana17 Well, its called OpenOffice , it has compatibility to open MS Office files but its slightly different and of course free.
