out of curiousity, how do you feel about marineland antibes? You know that i am a pro-cp but there are some facilities that i do not have much information on. Seaworld parks i have spent time researching and i despise miami seaquarium for keeping lolita alone in a tank that is about according to cetcean cousins 5-10% the size of seaworld tanks. I would be interested to hear your opinions on the japanese parks that hold orcas as well as six flags and mundo marino park.
@Believe13at - I dislike Six Flags because they drill Shouka's teeth. I also oppose Mundo Marino because Kshamenk is alone and his tank is pitifully small.
Kamogawa Sea World is okay because they treated their orcas respectfully - they weren't bred too early, they spaced the births, the whole pod stayed together (up until recently). However the tank is too small for my liking.
Marineland Antibes... I don't know /much/ about them, but as of yet I have no qualms with their facility.
@FreedomForOrcas thank you for that information. I liked six flags but the only part of them i do not like is the drilling. also, marineland antibes is one of my favorite parks (besides seaworld butyou already know that) because their tank has almost 10 million gallons and it houses a well structered podof 6-7 orcas
awesome video! (: despise the place, just did a talk for TEDx in November and mentioned both their inventory from ZooCheck and Junior in it! :P Not to mention those annoying 'everyone loooves marineland' ads that are always on tv :/ Good job!!
Ok i have a question for you. I heard a rumor that Kiska was pregnant with twins. I didnt even think it was possible for an orca to have twins. What do you think?
@shamurocks111 - It IS possible for a killer whale to have twins, but it is very very rare. Almost non-existant in the wild.
In captivity, the chance of twins is higher, but still slim (AI increases the chance of twins).
Concerning Kiska though, I believe the rumour is false. Mostly because a) all her offspring didn't survive very long, and b) she's quite old and possibly menopausal (or reaching that stage).
So yes, it's possible, but in Kiska's case, I doubt it.
We should understand that these living creatures are not just a money making product. Any wild capture makes me sick these creatures belong in the wild!
There is nothing more I can say that is close to the topic. But I really like to say that it would be great if other marine mammals get some attention to from outsiders like you. Thanks for the links.
I find it really interesting and important that you talk about the beluga's as well because not only the orca's, but non of these marine mammals should be held in captivity. Plus the way they get here are all awful story's and like you all ready explained this is still happening today. All for human profit by means of entertainment.
They use detours to change their dirty work to good talk.
@TJMNabk - I agree, I think capturing any animal for captivity is wrong. Miami Seaquarium every now and then will go out and capture more fish for their exhibits. If they can't keep what they have alive, they shouldn't be allowed to go out and take what they want. It contradicts the whole "save the oceans" message most of these parks say anyway.
@FreedomforOrcas you will. Trust me.

I have been fighting Marineland Canada for 5 years now, mainly because of junior. I am going to shut it down, or die trying.
