Pretty classy taste in music for such youngsters...fuck the nay-sayers. Fine, so it wasnt spot on, but I dont think you need some asshole on the other side of a keyboard to point that out. Fuck em all, keep it-up! And who cares about pick vs. no pick and the length of your strap. Just play music and enjoy it.
My Goodness! I am thankful for such comments. But anyone is welcome to criticise us as long as it sets us thinking in the right direction and helps us improve. I do absolutely understand whatever you mentioned, though. In fact, the last point you made (about playing and enjoying music) sums up the basic idea behind our videos. We want to get that message across.
Thank-you for taking your time to view this footage and leave your feedback!
I am sorry. I didn't understand completely what you mentioned. All I could make out from what you mentioned was that you can play bass better than me and that I am serious?
Anyway, thank-you for taking your time to watch this video and leave a comment.
Most of Simon Gallup's bass work is rhythm so playing with a pick and hanging your bass low will help a lot if you desire that Cure bass sound. I think playing bass with fingers is a little harder than a pick. Just my opinion.
Thank-you for that opinion. Actually Simon's bass lines are usually both melodic and rhythmic. I can't play the bass properly with a pick. But, I must try and learn to play the bass by using one.
Yes, I figured that out quite some time ago and I posted a video with that change around 4-5 months ago. Also, I discovered that for this song, sliding movements work well. By the way, as of now, I can't play the bass properly with a pick though I wish to, one day.
not bad, you know... keep playing and practicing .. ive seen a tremendous improvement from your recent videos compared to the first ones. the important part is to love what you do.
Thank-you very much, Breezy! I feel happy to receive such comments because they motivate me a lot to improve even further. Yes, you are absolutely right that the most important part is to love what you do.
Yes, I discovered recently that by playing slides for this song, it works much easier. Also, over here I am playing on a higher octave than the one on the original record. So, I also found out that playing in the original lower octave is comparatively easier.
Thanks for viewing and leaving a useful comment. By the way, good observation!
I agree with your comments about the guitar playing. The guitarist could play more on this. However, as you rightly pointed out it is a difficult song to play with one guitar. Even with one guitar, you need to play the parts at the exact spot when the bass player plays a particular section. So, to play the guitar is much more difficult here. As far as bass playing is concerned, it is just the same four bars repeated throughout though it could be difficult to keep the tempo intact!
My friend is on the guitar and I am on the bass. Thank-you for the remark.
Actually, I always get disappointed with the way I play the bass on this track because I know I never play it perfectly in any sense. I remember telling my friend after recording this track that I wasn't happy because I love 'Fascination Street' so much and I was not able to do justice to it in terms of my playing.
Yes, I do agree with you about the guitar sound. I feel the same way when I listen to this recording. It is a pity that its sound is somewhat submerged in the bass sound because I think the guitar playing was quite good here. Whereas, on the other hand, this is one of those songs that I really love but can't play properly on my bass to this day.
ciao boys, can I have your guitar pactch? very good (from Lecce, italy)

I agree about pick being easier. I also like the cleaner sound though.

Agreed, especially this kind of massive rhythm. But keep practicing, you'll get a hang of it

Dude,
As much as I hate using Bass tabs..try this...All on bottom E string.
88-88-88-88/-11-11-11--88-88-88-88/101010--44-44-44-44/131313--33-33-33-33/666
An yes...use a pick for this song :)
Vypir1966 3 years ago
Two things;
1) The bass riff is C D#, C D, G# F, G A# and it'll sound better if you play the whole thing on the bottom E.
2) It'll sound better with a pick.

alexmejia26 3 years ago
Why? What's wrong with the bass player? Tell me, tell me... please tell me. Ha ha...
Yeah, the bass player is quite horrible over here. He makes numerous mistakes.
ajittffcure 3 years ago
ok, He sucks big time...anyway, that's not a crime. If he stays in school, he'll be fine.
alexmejia26 3 years ago
Ha ha... I love your comment. Lol!
By the way, I am that bass player.
ajittffcure 3 years ago
It would be easier for the bassplayer to do slides instead of what's he doing, beside the speed issue.
I know it's a song very hard for doing with one guitar only, but I think guitar player can do a lot more there.
