Nujabes has music that takes you on a journey, but the journey is only accessible if you open your mind and heart, to feel the soul to soul. I have never hard any musician be able to reach my soul in a way that allows me to bring out the creativity when i listen to it
I can tell the difference in the album to the stuff that Uyama Hiroto helped finish to what Nujabes left behind. This is definitely one he left behind. Miss you Jun.
@kirbykidsmith I agree man, to me it still seems unfinished, no offence, Uyama and everyone who helped complete the album on behalf of Nujabes did an amazing job but i think we all know that the album as a whole is still yet to be filled with missing pieces
Came across Nujabes after getting hooked on the anime: Samurai Champloo, witch Nujabes had composed several soundtracks to. I fell in love with the beats mixed with jazz and other good stuff.
Yo after listening to this many times, I think it might be sampling some traditional Andean music. Like from Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador... that region. I feel like I can hear panflute, flute and charango/guitar in the song of an Andean style.
@SickLaughter originally it struck me as very Celtic but I can hear Andean as well. I need to do more listening to the latter though, I'm too underexposed to make that call.
@PKMao I recognize your name from the MS Forums I think. Whattup dude. And yeah I'm almost positive its got some andean samples in there. I'm half Peruvian, and I live in Peru now... the part that comes in at like 1:30 sounds sooo much like andean folk music. And also the plucked guitar or charango in the background... :)
@SickLaughter Okay I'll take your word for it, I'm pretty unknowledgeable in both styles though so it was just an educated guess. I think it was the flute and 6/8 time that made me think it was a celtic, but now it does sound more Andean to me. And do you mean the 5vemics forums? that's the only forum I think I've used this name on. RIP 5vemics.
This is a very heartfelt song indeed. As soon as I started playing this song, it lead me to feel very enthusiastic about life. Everything about the song is so powerful, with the laughter, the upbeat, the energy, and the spirit. It almost got me into tears because of the strength it has, and the fact that this is his last album. Overall, this is my favorite track in the album in front of Prayer. R.I.P Jun Seba
I love you, Jun Seba. We never met, and I didn't know about you until I stumbled upon your work on Youtube a while back, but you truly have changed my life with your music. Some people may say it's extreme, but there is no doubting that you had an amazing impact on my life, and I'm a better person because of your music.
I feel this song is so out of place considering Nujabes' death, but I can understand how it must've felt to make this song. The energy, the laughter, the upbeat glow this song gives off! It certainly brings about a certain happy lamentation, I suppose. By far, one of my favorite tracks from this album.
I hope Nujabes' tracks get released as in. Although I liked his work with Shing02, Substantial, etc before, I want all vanilla Nujabes since his death. Simple and beautiful like always.
I was friggin' pissed when Jun passed. He easily produced the dopest Hip-Hop instrumentals bar none. I'm enjoying Spiritual State mos definitely. Imma miss ole dude...*big sigh*
I've read somewhere, Nujabes had countless tracks stacked away somewhere when he died. I can imagine how the guys who have to compile the tracks feel. It must feel like being in a cave, knowing full well there's diamonds to unearth, everywhere, in the vicinity.
@MahamudSamatar Word.. I honestly think these songs on this Spiritual State album could be unfinished pieces for something greater he was trying to reach.. you know? but I Like the music how it is still.
This was also one of my favorites on the album. I miss this dude. Rest in Peace Jun

let's be real. There were some real gems on this album, but it was definitely not his greatest. Not even close.

@kirbykidsmith Nujabes, to me, was never a great album artist. His music shone more as individual pieces.
