Some of these religious comments are a load of rubbish. You contradict yourself all the time.
One person saying god created us all and if you don't believe then you won't be looked after when you die. What a load of tosh! If god created me then why didn't he make me religious. Far too much scientific evidence these days to show where we come from. Leave your religious stuff for the right place and time.
Your getting away from the fact this song is BRILLIANT!!! Have a nice day
faithful, doesn't mean she gets to be free from being a human. it is a test of your belief in God, trying to live a decent life while we are in this human form. God gave everyone a choice, believe in me, follow my teachings and will, and when the end comes, you will be safe with him. that's a small part of it, that is my understanding of it, I am not a religious person, I am spiritual. I absolutely love TOOL and Maynard, but I can have a different look on things. I think thats what tool wants.
I don't like it. it doesn't fit. Christianity is not a religious, it is a philosophy. Catholics are Christians, Prodestents, are Christian based. I think Maynards misunderstanding is, God is not there to make life pain free, and unsufferable. we were made in the human form and put here as a test. If you believe in God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit and follow there will and worship, you won't be saved from the storm, you will be able to weather the storm better. Just because Judith was very faith
This song isn't about hating religion, its about how Maynard couldn't understand how his mother remained so strong in her faith even after she was paralysed in an accident, "It's not like you killed someone, its not like you drove a hateful spear into his side" refers to why is she so faithful despite her not doing anything to anyone.
dude.. stop bitchin about how this song affects your religion. they have every right to show their opinion as much as you. its called 1st and 5th ammendment so gtfo and get a life you trollish little martyr whores
@115Irreversal Okay, sir. I have some constructive criticism; spell-check your posts. Your grammar and punctuation are atrocious. Youtube does still colour a red line under misspellings. Also, your "L337"-speak is broken. Please spell out your English when you type, it hurts my eyes. Other than that, great song!
Hardly being a troll by expressing my opinion, sir. I was nothing but polite to you in all I said. Perhaps it is a form of social interaction hitherto unknown to you, but it is generally accepted that "manners" are proper; please watch your mouth. Now, take your flames somewhere else whilst I enjoy the music. And please remember, sir, that yet again, I have been polite to you.
Religion was created for order through fear of consequence. Today most live through so much hell they're not scared of conscquence, the rest of the non-religious are too smart for bs. Although this song is about his mother, not religion. Great song!
He doesnt undersyand why his mothers faith in christ is strengthened after she had a paralysing stoke in his childhood, thinking thats the thanks she gets for being a devote christian.
everytime someone brings up the whole " let your servant die" thing, i tell them to examine their daily schedule. just think of the literally millions of ways you can die, like tripping in the shower, falling onto the sharp kitchen corner, a car crash etc. When someone dies, it's because it's God's declared time. end of.
@Jalanko13 the songs not about gods inability to save his mother. its not about god at all in my opinion. i feel like the song is more about the people who watched his mother die thinking that she had done something to deserve it. that these people would worship a god who would punish an innocent woman must have pissed him off. by fuck your god, he doesnt mean god god, just their god. theres a huge difference between judiths god and the god featured in this song.
i totally understand blaze and lavie. I just take it in for the art that it is. Don't let it influence my beliefs. I believe everyone one of us as been in a situation when we were angry and couldn't do anything about it. Think of Job and keep the faith.
Blaze, I know what you mean. I was raised in a Christian home and always held to those beliefs. But sometimes, I get sucked into songs like this one... lol
@Codysstar I'm religious but i do agree there is a time and a place. Also broadcasting your faith over youtube is a good way to get it laughed at or insulted.
@kamg07 And so is everything else we humans value...Love, hate, happiness, etc. So what's wrong with believing in something more than oneself? As a side note, im agnostic, but I love religious debates. Always searching for the answers....
I feel like Maynard had alot of anger built up about how his Mother suffered. And that needs to get out. Human beings get mad at God. It may not be right, but its our nature. And Maynard always said that he writes things so that he can move on. Look at his newer stuff, he obviously has let it go. look at 10,000 days and Wings for Marie. I think he just had to get it off his chest.
I'm going to be completely honest with all of you. I like Maynard a WHOLE lot... but Renholder and Maynard together is transcendental. There is no better collab in the world than these two. Both are musical geniuses... together, they are musical innovaters, bringing something to the table that none of us has ever experienced or even thought was possible... And for that I am eternally grateful. THIS is art!
"it's not like you killed someone." "it's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side". he wonders why she had to die like that. yes life happens, i said the samething, but you dont expect a disease to take someone you love. someone who was a beautiful person and incredible mother. For a person like myself who isn't deeply religious im going to be mad, and wonder; why her? why my mom? like the old saying goes why do bad things happen to good people? i guess thats how he felt too
I don't understand how people can think this way. He says right in the song "Fuck your God Your Lord and your Christ He did this Took all you had and Left you this way" In what way did Jesus "do this to her"? I love how easy it is for people to blame God for everything when things go wrong. "God" doesn't interfere with the lives of others, or the deaths of others for that matter. "Life" happens. There is no stopping it. You can try, but if it's your time to go, than it's your time to go.
I adore well done electronic remixes of songs. They are so beautifully chaotic which resonates well with a bi-polaree. Haha. So many dimensions and energies floating and crashing simultaneously. Amazing.
Even though the real lyrics are "Thank your God", I always like to think it's saying "Fake your God" in this remix. So many people put false hope in a religion to only be let down.
People seem to be raging about the "Thank your God/Fuck your God" part, the truth is that the song was repurposed, The Idea behind "Thank your God" lies in the movie, the idea is thank your god for all that's happened. Completely different meaning from what was the original, so they're essentially two different songs.
Now stop whining about religion and enjoy the music
To all the Christ Buddies listening to this song: um, why? I mean, don't get me wrong, Maynard's lyrics are awesome for any person of any faith or non-faith. I'm just curious as to why you like this song considering you believe in god. There is no god. Otherwise, the world would be perfect. There is just no proof.
@LovelessSounds If superman watches Lois Lane fall of a building, and he has the ability to save her and he doesn't, does that make him a hero or a monster? At any given time, God could help you/ save you assist you, yet he does not. Now I ask you, with all the suffering in the world, does that make him a savior or a monster?
01:12 to 01:27 and 02:15 and 02:45 were mixed together in one short song in the first "Underground" movie,. The part where Lucian bite Michael in a elevator, the music start right when Lucian taking out the bullets out of his own body after gunshot right after he bite Michael :)
This song gives me chills. And when he says "Thank your god" I think he's saying it as, you can thank your god for taking everything you had and left you praying to the end, so on and so forth. Just my guess.
Actually, Billy Howerdel wrote this song. When Maynard read the lyrics, it reminded him a lot of his mother, Judith, and so they called it Judith. Maynard tells this on a documentary over the music video on APC's dvd.
To clear up any confusion, this song is about his mother, Judith Marie, who, through many hardships and sickness, remained faithful to God until her last dying breath.
Maynard is singing about how it doesn't make sense to him that if there is a God it doesn't make sense that he "abandoned" a faithful servant and let her die painfully.
I feel bad listening to this song because I am a devout Christian, but it's just so awesome... haha
and for the epilogue, or the prelude if you may. you should check out Tool's Wings For Marie parts 1&2 (especially part 2 "10.000 days" takes you further down the same road.)
for those who don't necessarily listen to all of Keenans bands but feel an interest on the subject nevertheless. : )
@blaze00001 i know what you mean; most of my favorite artists are not Christian (NIN for example) but the vocals and the overall sound of them are so amazing that I listen to them anyway. They also express a range of emotions (self-loathing, despair, rage) that Christian music will not touch.
@blaze00001 yeah. It makes me pity Maynard. But at the same time I feel wrong just listening to it. That's why I went and made me an instrumental! How awesome is that?
@DarkestofTimes i don't pity him, i relate to him and feel the same when i listen to this song. my mom prayed and talked to god. read her bible and went to church when she was able, and in 2009 on december 29th i watched her die of cancer after going through terrible pain. she was the strongest and most loving person i knew, and i'll forever miss her, and wonder why she had to die at 53. 3 months after my son was born
@blaze00001 I had no idea that was the meaning of this song. Before, I thought it was amazing. But now it speaks a lot deeper to me then just some other song on my iPod.
@blaze00001 : it's not anti-Christian. He had even stated this in an interview. However it is about being abandoned by one's maker. Judith's, explicitly. He's questioning her beliefs in him considering the circumstances. How she can follow without question.
if you are an athiest i can show you what voodoo is. You will definately %$#@ your pants when you realize how this world really works. Go read the book of Enoch. The new movie the book of Eli is loosely based on what the book is capable of. It was removed from the bible and freemasons use it to cast spells. It is called "Enochian Magic". I now believe in God but I found God is more complex and greater than I once believed in. Also look up the "Watchers". I can assure you it is real.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no one cares if you are atheist. atheism is the most stupid thing ive ever heard haha if you think we are IT then you are clearly confused. i hate the words but the beat is sickk. praise the Lord Almighty
I love this song, for one cuz i call it the mindfuck effect with so much range of noise and so much goin on in harmony [specially the end] I used to fuckn rock out to this in my car cuz i have a nice stereo system and i would just lay back and enjoy. the original was a masterpiece in it self, but i dont think you could ask for a better remix
Ive heard both this and the original version like a billion times and even though i really like the original i love this version so much more and i agree with Aurelius27x
how is this not 5 stars? it's sick. wish people could appreciate a remix for what it is without seeing it as a threat to the original. who can say this remix is not flattering to APC?
well acually maynard helped with this album, and if u listen to some of the other songs on the album he sings some of the songs different soo he wanted it to be thank your god on this version
@humblenerd147 If superman watches Lois Lane fall of a building, and he has the ability to save her and he doesn't, does that make him a hero or a monster? At any given time, God could help you/ save you assist you, yet he does not. Now I ask you, with all the suffering in the world, does that make him a savior or a monster?
@Lonewolf22334 that really makes sense, but how i see things, which is limited of course, is that god cant just jump in and save everyone, sure he may be capable, but thats like saying we are all capable of also saving other humans, starving children and such, but we do not. I believe that does make humanity the monster and not god, just perspective i guess though
Disliked because edited. Regardless of religious standpoint art in any form should not be edited.

clavicle86 1 year ago
@blaze00001 yeah. It makes me pity Maynard. But at the same time I feel wrong just listening to it. That's why I went and made me an instrumental! How awesome is that?
DarkestofTimes 10 months ago
@DarkestofTimes i don't pity him, i relate to him and feel the same when i listen to this song. my mom prayed and talked to god. read her bible and went to church when she was able, and in 2009 on december 29th i watched her die of cancer after going through terrible pain. she was the strongest and most loving person i knew, and i'll forever miss her, and wonder why she had to die at 53. 3 months after my son was born
LostNbound 10 months ago
@LostNbound that's horrible man.
DarkestofTimes 10 months ago
@DarkestofTimes not really awesome at all, I actually pity you who doesn't have enough common sense to know its only a song.
deathdealer60546 3 months ago
@deathdealer60546 I pity you who doesn't have the common sense of knowing the song is based off of true events and feelings.
DarkestofTimes 3 months ago
@blaze00001 I had no idea that was the meaning of this song. Before, I thought it was amazing. But now it speaks a lot deeper to me then just some other song on my iPod.
AfraidOftheDark 9 months ago
@blaze00001 : it's not anti-Christian. He had even stated this in an interview. However it is about being abandoned by one's maker. Judith's, explicitly. He's questioning her beliefs in him considering the circumstances. How she can follow without question.
jordankriese 8 months ago
@blaze00001 I think 10,000 days is also about her struggle with cancer.
oocpromo 6 months ago
@blaze00001 But Judith didn't become spiritual until she was paralized... she wasntalways faithful...

Ins't this remix by Danny Lohner?
tmacomber 2 years ago
if you are an athiest i can show you what voodoo is. I can assure you it is real.
emettotter 2 years ago
I am a atheist because i have nothing to believe in.
So fuck you sheppydeppy
And yes this song is about god abandoning everyone.

I love this song, for one cuz i call it the mindfuck effect with so much range of noise and so much goin on in harmony [specially the end] I used to fuckn rock out to this in my car cuz i have a nice stereo system and i would just lay back and enjoy. the original was a masterpiece in it self, but i dont think you could ask for a better remix
shokubai 2 years ago 31
ALL their remixes are amazing...not so much for puscifer but they are COMPLETELY different so it doesnt matter
triggerman73 2 years ago
@shokubai
I mostly like the distortion (I've been familiar with the original for a while) but I like all the added electro touches.

Great Mix..does the original justice

Ive heard both this and the original version like a billion times and even though i really like the original i love this version so much more and i agree with Aurelius27x

original is better, but also this version is very good
bus18041981 2 years ago
I love the remix... the original is something special and mainstream acceptable, but this is some kind of amazing in itself.
Aurelius27x 2 years ago
how is this not 5 stars? it's sick. wish people could appreciate a remix for what it is without seeing it as a threat to the original. who can say this remix is not flattering to APC?

well you know music is a matter of opinion so not everyone is gonna feel the same way as you about it.

frackencool777 3 years ago 4

TheFNG556 3 years ago

@videoshizzle couldnt you think of it as irony? thank your god for fucking you over?
TheBuddha94 1 year ago 2
@TheBuddha94 your kidding yourself if you think God is fucking you over, its your fellow man whos doing that for you no doubt,
humblenerd147 1 year ago
@humblenerd147 If superman watches Lois Lane fall of a building, and he has the ability to save her and he doesn't, does that make him a hero or a monster? At any given time, God could help you/ save you assist you, yet he does not. Now I ask you, with all the suffering in the world, does that make him a savior or a monster?
Lonewolf22334 1 year ago
@Lonewolf22334 that really makes sense, but how i see things, which is limited of course, is that god cant just jump in and save everyone, sure he may be capable, but thats like saying we are all capable of also saving other humans, starving children and such, but we do not. I believe that does make humanity the monster and not god, just perspective i guess though
humblenerd147 1 year ago
I think you bring up a really good point. Because now that I think about it, weren't we according to the bible created in Gods image?
Trunksavalon 11 months ago
@videoshizzle 'HE' could care less about you. There is no GOD, if there was, we'd e best friends instead of the trolls than instigate our every move.

I thought that it was "Fake your god?"
Stinkfiist0 2 years ago
it's supposed to be Fuck your God...
version i had was Fake your God
withered962 2 years ago 3
Yeah.
The one on my Zune says "Fuck Your God" like the actual song.
Stinkfiist0 2 years ago 3
I believe he is saying "Thank your God" in this version. If you think about it, it makes a lot more sense in the context of the song.
Yes, I know that's not the original lyric.
Nirvash2010 2 years ago 4
@TheFNG556 It says FEK YOUR GOD on spoitify like in father ted lol. Still fucking good though
giptonsilly 1 year ago
@TheFNG556 He's telling his mother to thank her god in an ironic sense.
